This is part of something I wrote awhile back on legalism in the church. A key point is that legalism actually accelerates sin! 'Legalism' is an abuse of the law and is quite the opposite of sanctification and grace that empowers one to incidentally fulfill what moral laws required without being under the law. The law is not bad because it simply defines what sin is, however the law 'in itself' has no power to save from sin. While the church should not be legalistic, is should in no way be part of 'liberalism' either. Legalism and liberalism are like two ditches on the sides of the road! Legalism Kills but The Grace-based Church Sets Free He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (2 Corinthians 3:6 NIV) The legalistic church is bent (even subtly) on the letter of the law that actually accelerates sin in people’s lives! Romans 7:8 KJV - But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. Romans 7:8 AMP - But sin, finding opportunity in the commandment [to express itself], got a hold on me and aroused and stimulated all kinds of forbidden desires (lust, covetousness). For without the Law sin is dead [the sense of it is inactive and a lifeless thing]. Jesus took the laws that accelerate sin and its passions out of the way! Colossians 2:13-14 WEB - You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, (14) wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us; and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross; Through Jesus people are taken out from under the law and put solely under ‘grace’. Romans 6:14 KJV - For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. A chief motivation of Satan for tempting a believer is to get them under self-condemnation. He will even get other Christians and sometimes pastors to join in with his legalistic condemnation approach. Romans 8:1 KJV - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. It is God's extreme mercy and transforming Word that perfects purity, self-control, and perseverance. It is God's goodness that births and completes real change by sanctification and grace. It is not an act of shear willpower. Romans 2:4 WEB - Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? Legalism is a device that self-centered pastors use to control the flocks. The after-trib rapture is a done deal. Scripture is very clear that the resurrection/rapture is AFTER the Tribulation . . . When doing a study always look for a descriptor to determine a locale or a time period etc. This one shows you that the flood was global . . . In the beginning everything perfectly existed because of Word of God Truth. "And God said, Let there be..." Adam and Eve lived in an exclusive atmosphere of only God's Word until it was breached. The devil introduced an alternative to obeying God and His Word and it produced a curse on the earth. I believe we are starting to see this accelerated today because of those who live under a 'refuge of lies' and a 'different cover'. Jesus as the "Word of God" and "The Truth" restores a person to an "every Word of God" life and walk with God. Here is a newer writing concerning the the old 'drunk in the spirit' teaching from years ago... Is the ‘drunk in the spirit’ manifestation of God? Does the “drunk in the spirit” manifestation by “holy ghost bartenders” come from God? No! This manmade teaching is based on the word of mockers in Acts chapter 2. Act 2:13 KJV - Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. Act 2:13 AMP - But others made a joke of it and derisively said, They are simply drunk and full of sweet [intoxicating] wine. The word ‘derisively’ means irreverently, contemptuously, cynically, mockingly. The Bible never says they were acting drunk on the day of Pentecost, it says they were being mocked (by cynical accusers). The “drunk in the spirit” teaching is based on what 'mockers' said. The word of mockers is not truth that stems from God! You can’t base doctrine on it. Scripturally, spiritual drunkenness is actually part of the curse. Isaiah 29:9-10 KJV - they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. (10) For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. Job 12:24-25 WEB - He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way. (25) They grope in the dark without light. He makes them stagger like a drunken man. In the Garden of Eden Satan presented a twist of God’s Word and it produced a curse. In like manner “drunk in the spirit” is a twist of scripture and a curse. It’s amazing how Satan packaged a curse to look like doctrine to deceive and gain advantage in the church. Furthermore, scripture repeatedly commands believers to be sober and sober minded. The Holy Spirit who is the origin of scripture will never contradict Himself from scripture to scripture. In addition, 1Corinthians 6:9 tells us that drunkards do not inherit the kingdom of God.As part of this study, scripture refers to a self-induced wearied state resulting from distress and sorrow (not from of the Holy Spirit) that’s compared to drunkenness. It is God who brings one ‘out of’ this state. 1Sa 1:13-15 KJV Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. I have always questioned why Hebrews 6:4-6 did not fit the context of other scripture. This is where my study led... Backsliding & Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit First of all, backsliding and blasphemy of the Holy Spirit are two different situations. Hebrews 6:4-6 is many times misinterpreted. It speaks about ‘falling away’ and not blasphemy of the Holy Spirit as some teach. Hebrews 6:4-6 KJV - For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, (5) And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, (6) If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. If the wording of the above Bible ‘translation’ was truly accurate, then no backslider could ever return from a falling away. There would be no prodigal sons coming back home! The Complete Jewish Bible reads this way… Hebrews 6:4-6 CJB - For when people have once been enlightened, tasted the heavenly gift, become sharers in the Ruach HaKodesh, (5) and tasted the goodness of God's Word and the powers of the `olam haba -- (6) and then have fallen away -- it is impossible to renew them so that they turn from their sin, as long as for themselves they keep executing the Son of God on the stake all over again and keep holding him up to public contempt. The CJB says: “as long as for themselves they keep executing the Son of God on the stake all over again and keep holding him up to public contempt”. It means that while still in a state of denial one cannot be restored. However, just like the prodigal son a person can genuinely repent and come home to Father’s house! Jeremiah 3:22 KJV - Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God. People can have a hard time returning even after they have genuinely repented because of churches not properly understanding the above scripture lesson and God’s compassion. Some pastors stand with a drawn sword rather than a feast of fatted calf for returnees. Worship should be 'worship' and Christian entertainment should be 'entertainment'. God gave us 6 days to be blessed with Christian entertainment, but the sabbath day is to be holy. Exodus 20:8 KJV Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Jesus (and His disciples) were always raising the dead--such as Lazarus. When Jesus rose from the dead, He resurrected many in like manner.
