  1. Some people act as though they can carry God around in a guided cage to release him out into the world to support their own ideals, when necessary. The word of God is not to be scavenged through for the gold to justify themselves, but to find the gold that God placed there for everybody to find.
  2. compassion is also for the living. The truth will set you free means much more than it's biblical references. If we are to love our brothers, we are not to allow them to not be hurt for their own benefit and sometimes that hurt is the realization that they have been kept in the dark about that which they believe is true and to have had those they trust keep them inn the dark because of a false sense of morality. If we allow people to think kindly of those who were anything but unkind, then we allow them to seem to others to sympathize with the actions the remembered person is known for. To do this is to lookout for our own person satisfaction at the expense of others.
  3. That is an opinion based on opinion and as such is irrelevant to my belief system.
  4. There are people out there who deserve the hate and their comments are not smears, but truths that some assume are better off not said. There is a fine line between acting respectfully of the dead and acting in all honesty to the way the person lived their lives before their deaths and the impact they had on the lives of others. Serial killers, terrorist, child molesters, ect. Remembering who we are talking about and relating truthfully that information is not a thing of taking vengeance out on the persons legacy. Revenge is the Lords, but covering up the truth in order to possibly think better of oneself is not being honest with yourself and others.
  5. How many times has God used people who were thought incapable of being what was needed in the eyes of man, to bring glory upon himself. Look at David and Goliath. This is military might against overwhelming odds, against an opponent that works against us. It is not a conduit in which god guides the community in spiritual needs. If I'm not mistaken Moses set up the judges to interpret the laws that were already on the books in a case by case basis. It didn't have anything to do with running the church or being apart of the priesthood.
  6. He's having a discussion with God right now. That's all I know. What I have heard about him is what others wish others to hear and that isn't always kind or true. I pray for those he left behind, because they are the ones hurting. He is beyond that and hopefully going to a better place than he left.
  7. I would suggest you show me which post you are trying to insinuate something from instead of just posting words.
  8. When has a father ever smiled at his children disrespecting one another?
  9. Is it appropriate to use the secular imagery of keeping women barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen to mook those who are merely backing up their understanding of Gods will.? This place is loosing it's luster as far as a place for serious contemplation of God's design and turning into a theater for thumbing of the nose.
  10. Sarcasm is a biting weapon that is used to diminish the ideals of others. In this case it is those who have presented their case, some using scripture to back up their claims. God is not smiling at what is happening here because it has to do with understanding his will.
  11. I believe God cares about everything and has set up everything, from the beginning for Christianity to flourish. The roles of men and women were set at he time of Adam and Eve, as Eve was taken from man and formed to be his helper. Down through the pages of the Bible, there is not one reference in which women have ever had a leadership role on spiritual matters, except when the Judges ruled Israel. I have no way of telling how much power was given them, but as a judge I would think that they would be much the same as a prophet. I have never seen any instance where the Bible includes women in a leadership position in spiritual services and I have never heard that in practice anywhere in the world except in the recent past My point of veiw is that God directs the attention and focus of the leaders of the different churches as to the direction they need to take to best equip their congregation for what is to come. Not everyone in every congregation is the same and each and every one who attends that church has different needs that need to be attended to. If the pastor of that church is not favorable to God, in any way the parishioners will not get God's best through that pastor. People talk all the time about, It's about time for this and that, but they are talking about what they think is appropriate and not what god thinks is appropriate. If God wanted women to be the head of a church, there would already be a long history of that. Please don't tell me it is cultural, because culture is a thing of man and to date God's will has never been checked, under any circumstances by the will of men.
  12. I thank you for that removal. I've had to do too many of those withdrawals myself. We are all subject to be passionate about what we believe. just remember that there are some people that frequent these forums who are only here to egg someone on and see how many buttons they can push. I would hate to see one of those types push you into pushing your own self right out the front door. Take care and God bless and keep you.
  13. I very rarely get upset and when I do, I try to walk away from the keyboard. What I am is tired of the tactic of using imagery over substance. It's the same thing as using the name of Hitler, as it brings up the spectre of evil and as it is always utilized to seemingly equate the oppositions viewpoint. I think it is more to get the opposition off their game than to support any viewpoint that user has. I really think most people use such things when they are frustrated and should really step away from the keyboard themselves and collect their thoughts. I say that because I have had my fair share of going after others. The one thing is that these threads are not specifically for those carrying on the conversation. They are for those people who come here to read what is being discussed here. I don't think that too many of these threads have changed the minds of those who debate here. They are for those who might just be influenced by what they read here and if they see these emotional outbursts as what they are. Emotional outbursts and those reading will attribute the outbursts to those who use them. As far as history is concerned. History is just that. If those slaveowners were to have been born 200 years earlier or 200 years later they would have the mindset of the times they were in and they would justify their actions accordingly by the authority figures in their lives. What gets me is the fact that people try to judge people from other time periods according to the previlant attitudes that they live under and that Is not fair, no matter how you look at things. I addressed what I thought reliant, which is as much as anyone can do. As far as taking the Lords name in vain I've have heard two lines of thought on this. One is that taking in vain means not using God's name for making profit and the other is not turning it into a curse word or one that is used thoughtlessly. What I find odd is that most people seem to think Gods name is God. It Is not. God is a reference to a state of being, as he is God. His name is one of many I've heard over the years. Jehovah, I am, Yah-weh. As far as you personally doing whatever you want , that is up to you. We all are responsible to the one who made us to act according to his designs, If we wish to have a relationship with him. It is not up to me to stand in your way. It is up to me, though to point out things which I think will be helpful to you and to make my understanding of Gods will known as it is, to me his message and I would not be following his instructions to me, as I see it, if I kept quiet here. I owe it to him and all who are here, to do nothing less and a whole bunch more.
  14. What we need to do is stop the scavenger hunt through scripture for anything to wrap ones own personal idealism around as it is not there for our ideals, but Gods. He was the one who inspired all f this and as from the beginning of time up until the present day, there is not one instance where any women ever had any authority to preach the word of God. The only times which I've ever heard anywhere close to this is when the Judges ruled over Israel and I don't specifically know how much influence they had, but I would guess they acted much like prophets. There is no indication that any female held any priesthood in the old testament or the new. Jesus did not have any female apostles and there is no indication that there has ever been even thought of a woman in the position of preacher down through the ages and even into the 20th century and I think if God had it in mind that such a thing was permissible than no one, no matter who could stand in his way. The idea of putting forth the imagery of the Southern slave masters is just another attempt to elicit emotional responses and I don't think anyone here deserves to have their take on the Bible reduced to a prank. I say that for everybody including you and if I find out someone has done this to you, I will speak against that as well. I have no dog in this hunt and I'm not idealistically attached to any ideal. If you can show me where I am wrong and in a specific way I will be open to changing my mind. To date, I haven't seen anything to support anything other than what supports the views I have. You ask me how many Christians erased this and that. I say none of them have, if anyone has sidestepped anything in the Bible they are not Christian, but people who are in love with calling themselves Christian and not following through with God's plan. What I have heard is that there are some of the laws that were ceremonial in nature and only were applied to making the Israelite's stand out apart from those people that were around them. I would like to, one day look into that and see which of those laws apply, but I'm fairly sure that it would have been along the same line as not wearing clothing of linen and wool together. I don't think any of these things can be refereed to the acceptance of women as preachers, because of the fact that we are his direct creations and are under his authority to conduct ourselves according to his wishes because how we do this is determined on how he sees us. That is the entire crux of the topic here. God grants through his holy spirit what these preachers say and he knows what is needed in the church itself. If he is displeased in any way with the person who is in charge there I hardly think he will influence that persons words. This is not about making political or social points as there have been many civilizations that have risen up and died out in the long history of man, but God has a longer history and his history with us began in the Garden of Edan and he set the roles of men and women at that time. I haven't heard of any updates to this, but my eyes are open and my ears are ready for anything different that he has in store for us. Thank you and God bless.
  15. If this is what I think it is and is a dishonest use of imagery against those who people disagree with their views. What part of what has been spoken about here can in any way be on any level be equated to misuse of scripture? Why is it that anyone would think that there were any great majority of people used scripture to justify slavery, especially since it concentrates on the South as if there were no slave owners in the North. Those who wrote the constitution owned slaves. How many people in the South as a percentage even owned slaves? This whole entire post seems to reek of prejudisim and spite and I have no idea why it was even posted the way it was. Is this a tactic that needs to be embraced here?
  16. It was a joke dude. I more about the dilapidated condition of those who know him. Why else would I set it up talking about peoples bladders?
  17. Um, I don't know what you are relating to with this.
  18. Yeah, that and Jersey Shore and the like. I wonder if Tim could get on Netflix? I'm seeing some advertisement about some shows that they run. Might be an option.
  19. I have no idea why anyone is surprised at this. TV is never been about anything other than entertainment and with the rise of reality shows taking over those channels who used to have programing that actually stirred the mind instead of the Libido, this should not a shock.
  20. Those, young enough to have the bladder control to wait 2 hours in line to use the restroom and patience enough to search through 1000 cars to find theirs have no idea who this guy is. He needs a gimmick to get them interested enough in a geriatric to see what he's all about.
  21. What speaks for itself is God and he does it in the Bible. The rest of us are just referring to that as a guideline to what is expected of us as those who follow him. Many things have been said to be open to interpretation by those who feel a need to read into scripture to find things they assume should be there, but those who Christ left to guide his church has never not been men. Since it is his word and it has stood the test of time, i think there is a good reason for that and it's not bigotry or having a bias.
  22. Gender bias? As a whole your statement here is what is refereed to as special pleading as if any argument wish includes Gods designs needs such a thing. God's designs are well documented all the way through the Bible and the rolls of men and women are not subject to the times or the age we are in.
  23. There is no arrogance when refuting the personal assumptions of someone who can not prove their statement. All we can go upon is what Jesus put foreword in the Bible as to how the church was set up and the history that has been set in stone, by God as to who has always been in positions of authority in the church and that was men.
  24. Agreed. There are also people who have a chip on their shoulder with something to prove the world and Christianity as well. Those people are more into proving they can stand behind a podium and recite scripture, but that doesn't mean the Holy Spirit did anything at all. I once went to a church with a female pastor, if that's what you want to call it. The building was less than 1/2 full and it felt more like someone reading out of technical manual than having church services. The person, also a female who was running the sound machine for the hymns had to come down and try to stir up the congregation to sing above a wispier and the pastor there had to try and shame the people there into volunteer to help out at some future church function. I had to leave, I was so upset at the way that place was ran. I'll never go back.
  25. Your use of emotionaly charged words is quite good. (1) problem with emotions (2) hard line approach. You should go into adverting. Sorry, but I'm not into the Special Pleading logical fallacy. Unsubstantiated claims are just that . It is not denying anything it is a good does of skepticism. What you haven't addressed is the fact that you are concentrating on the head as if God looks at that. God looks at the heart and that is not effected by anyone's mental health because he knew them before they were born. He knew you and he did what he did to save you, wither you place that on medication or the work of science, that is up to you. To me, God intervened in your half and saved you from those things that other people hearts were not set up to acknowledge.
