  1. These are the times foretold by Joel the prophet and confirmed by Peter on the day of Pentecost, when God would pour out His spirit upon all flesh. Meaning not just on "the wheat" (God's children), but also on "the tares" (the children of Satan). The result is bound to be quite volatile, and explains the great divide between the church and the rest of the world, but also the crazy radical behavior of children crazed by the power of God, but who lack understanding.
  2. Absolutely, which simply underlines the fact that the scriptures must be discerned spiritually, and tested.
  3. It is not my theology, but the written word. Interestingly though, many of the translations of God "confounding" all language, use the word "confused." So, your perception is correct, just as it was meant to be.
  4. These are the symptoms of God pouring out His spirit upon all flesh, on the good and the evil, and what happens when the world infiltrates the church.
  5. According to Him (not me) He "confounded all language" which would include the scriptures, because men began to do evil in His sight. It is then explained later that "all things come in parables" and the "My words are spirit", and therefore, the scriptures "must be discerned spiritually" because the word has gone out to all, both "the wheat and the tares."
  6. No, just that we not fall into the same error of following the letter of the scriptures, rather than the spirit in which they were inspired. As for a rating system, No, the bible itself and certainly Paul is a good example, preaches and teaches on multiple levels without a problem. On the contrary, the problem occurs when a preacher or teacher, singles out their own level of understanding and calls it the only truth and everything else heresy.
  7. I would laugh, but would not wish blindness on any. But since you mention it...let's not forget that Jesus did not tell all to His disciples, but withheld what they could not then bear, and that they were found sleeping and suffered temptation right up to then end and that very evening Jesus was taken, even after spending all that time with Him. And then, when things were left in their care, Jesus found fault in six out to the seven churches during that same time of their epistles, for which Paul foretold strong delusion.
  8. If do care, and I am in the word constantly and recommend it to all. But this discussion is not to show favor to my cautions or to yours, but to all, and would not be complete without mentioning the very things that have occurred already in history which the Lord spoke harshly about. So, let us be complete in our cautions to those who might fall into the same mistakes of the past.
  9. Now we are squabbling... But you too are forgetting several parts of the truth, that God Himself "confounded all language at the tower of Babel" and also declared that "all things come in parables" and therefore "the scriptures must be discerned spiritually." Nonetheless, His "word will not return void."
  10. Reverence toward God is fine, but let us not forget Christ's condemnation of the lawyers ( who were so technically into the written word that they didn't understand the spirit of it).
  11. The quote from the Lord's prayer is not about the tribulation whether pre or post, but about temptation. The context of the Lord's prayer can benefit all followers of Christ, but will be misunderstood if not first viewed as specific to the immediate context of Jesus speaking only to His disciples of that time. In that proper context, He is referring to [their] temptation which was about to come: Matthew 26:36-46 36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” 39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” 40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless[a] I drink it, Your will be done.” 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.” ...This temptation is specific to their part in the Lord's hour of great tribulation and the taking on of all sin upon Himself. Moreover, it indicates by what means He shall come again.
  12. It doesn't matter: Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. ...So, whether we read one translation or another it does not change where the Lord directs our steps. The difference in translations then, is only the result of God Himself confounding all language at the tower of Babel, which confounding is of no consequence to those who are His, for He directs them regardless. His strength is made perfect in spite of our imperfections in conveying His word. Providence of His word is His, not the folly of men.
  13. As I said, it doesn't matter: Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. ...So, whether he reads one translation or another it does not change where the Lord directs his steps. The difference then, is only the result of God confounding all language at the tower of Babel, which confounding is of no consequence to those who are His, for He directs them regardless.
  14. Pick one. How about: Revelation 3:11 Behold, I am coming quickly!
  15. If didn't open any links, but yes, I read all that you posted. I too prefer the KJV or the NKJV, but my comment is based on the fact that God's word is under His own providence alone, and not subject to the folly of men. Regardless...it "shall not return unto Him void."
  16. Not true. But that is the common take on it.
  17. That is like saying, "I think I am going to go over the cliff, because I am head straight for it." What do you think you ought to do about it? What do you want to do about it?
  18. During those times and the times before Christ, people were moved by the Holy Spirit, but could not receive Him, for He was not sent until Christ died and rose again and sent Him. As for baptism, baptism is not the receiving of the Holy Spirit, but simply a showing of ones dedication to receive Him. Nor is it required, but is rather a commandment to do so, just as spreading the good news o Christ is. Which we ought to do. But because we cannot possible do all that is commanded and are in need of Christ to fulfill all that is required, we attain all through coming to Christ and believing that He is able to save... And then, at a time of His choosing, He will send the Holy Spirit, just as He promised.
  19. From the movie, The Abyss: "When you are hanging on by your fingernails, don't go waving your arms!" By all accounts you should be in a type of Christian intensive care...baby food, and a wheelchair, then short walks in the Son, and milk. Solid foods and frontal assaults come later, much later. For now, prayer (as you say) is quite enough. And read the bible. I read the bible through seven times before I even stepped into a church of would-be friendlies, let alone any hostile encounters like you are talking about. Let someone else do the heavy lifting for a while. God's got this.
  20. It might help if you loose the word the world uses ("Paranormal") and use something more descriptive of the miracles of God...like, supernatural. In which case, be careful what you wish for. Science will tell you that we are whirling through space within a precise set of natural laws that give the appearance that we are standing still, a mere speck in the greater unknown parts of the universe. In reality, none of it is actually real, but all of this is rather a manifestation, and a mere "created" "image" that exists within the mind of God. Did you know that the word "real" is not used even once in the KJV bible? But do be careful, in this realm of "let there be light" magic, the characters do bleed and suffer and cry real-to-life tears. As for the supernatural - nothing beats the truth! I myself, rare as it my be, after a series of downward spiraling events and coming to the end of myself, I called out to God in what I considered to be a last resort - and He answer! I was immediately taken up in the spirit above the earth and shown visions of all that I had asked of Him, and my place in His great master plan for all the ages, all more real than anything I have ever experience in this world. Then as quickly as I had been taken up, I was returned, burning up with a cold sweat and in awe, but with a sense of peace the likes of which I had never known. Life was already upside down, but then within a matter of days everything changed, my job, my relationship - and more importantly, me. He then lead me on a path of change that began with a temporary stay with my brother and his family, and in the room where I stayed was a bible. I was drawn to it, and began reading it and could not put it down, except to eat and sleep, and I read it through from cover to cover like a novel. To my further surprise, that book was without a doubt authored by the same Author as my experience - its words confirmed my experience, and my experience confirmed it: It is the word of God, and that is my witness!
  21. It is there in my comment in quotes already. Well, except what cannot be quoted: Do you know that the word "real" is not in the KJV bible? Would you prefer that I quote that all this is a mere "created" "image?" It's all there - I told you the truth.
  22. No. Nothing manifest in the world is "literal." Christ told us that "all things come in parables", and "My words are spirit." Nonetheless, Christ is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
