When your children isnt interested in God.
Fidei Defensor replied to creativemechanic's topic in General Discussion
If that picture bothers him, he should see all New Age, Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist, and other stuff in video games, shows, movies, and etc. these days. The Eastern Religions are hard at work, Yoga their most popular evangelistic tool. (Yoga is major practice in Jainism, Buddhism, and Hinduism, look it up) The man protesting in the text isn’t wrong. So the parents are ok with their offspring getting exposed to eastern stuff, but not presenting the gospel to their eighteen year old? How will their Anna learn of Christ if she does not hear?: “[13] For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”[14] How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? [15] And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” (Romans 10:13-15). I mean kids these days have liturgies of eastern thought in their shows, but oh do not force them to hear about Jesus on Sunday! That’s coercion! Pres. Obama was right, this is Post-Christian America. -
Right, but my point is James is not talking about eternal salvation, his focus is good works that testify you are saved, not that save you. My point was Luther like many misinterpret James to be preaching a penance/works based gospel. He is not. The Greek makes it clear he is frustrated with Christians who arn’t any different than the world, who’s love fot others “has gone cold.”

Ah but save (salvo) can mean eternal salvation or save your life from death, misery, and consequences; as in “he saved me from that trouble.” I believe James means Salvo in that tense. I am not debating the good The Roman Church has done in terms of hospitals, and etc; we are discussing the Reformation, which is theological, soterological, doxological, and spiritual,

Gospel of Mary -Source of Catholicism?
Fidei Defensor replied to Fidei Defensor's topic in General Discussion
There was incetive to make her a prostitute, to sell her sainthood as a woman “of loose morals” who became disciple of Christ; to inspire comverts to Catholicism and increase their coffers with donations. I have no doubt repentant-prostitutes did become followers of Jesus, He did say, “Then Jesus explained his meaning: “I tell you the truth, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do.” (Matthew 21:31). But Mary Magadalene was not a harlot. -
Thank you all for helping. This wigged me out today.

I’ll have to check this info out. What benefit would the Masons derive from influneving the KJV?
-
Recently heard someone say The KJV Bible is Masonic because Sir Francis Bacon, one of the editors was Free Mason. King James Bible published in 1611 A.D. Free Masonry’s First Lodge is in 1717 A.D. But the first Masonic Texts date 1390-1425 A.D. Which means the Free Masons already existed as far back as then. Anyone else heard this statement the KJV is masonic? Anyone have data its a lie or if its possible? Kinda freaked me out.

Gospel of Mary -Source of Catholicism?
Fidei Defensor replied to Fidei Defensor's topic in General Discussion
Yeah they confused Mary Magadalene who had Seven Demons with the prostitute Mary. Mother Mary’s sinfulness is confirmed by her own mouth, “and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!” (Luke 1:47) She is confessing she needs a savior, and is not sinless like RCC teaches. -

Forgeries to be sure, meant to support dogmas not in the canon of Scripture. -
Gospel of Mary -Source of Catholicism?
Fidei Defensor replied to Fidei Defensor's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, the Marian Intercessor thing is not Scriptural. Worse her title “Queen of Heaven,” is the same title as the goddess Ashereroth/Artemis (Jeremiah Chapter 44) -
Luther had a bad translation of James. James means “faith without works is dead,” in that is speaking of witness (our faith being seen by the world), that your witness is dead because no one can tell you are saved because your works (actions) are not there. RCC and EO use the Book of James to defend works-based-merit-salvation. But James is focused on fruit bearing, he is criticizing that the Grace crowd isn’t bothering to live like Christians, James is not advocating we can save ourselves with works, he is focused on fruit bearing. So his epistle should not be used in Soteriology. Here is an analogy. There is Charitas Love and Agape Love. Charitas is where we get charity, which doesn’t mean money, but yo show love through action. Agape love in contrast is only known by the person and who is loved alone. James is focused on Charitas: “James 2:15-17 [15] If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, [16] and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? [17] So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

Gospel of Mary -Source of Catholicism?
Fidei Defensor replied to Fidei Defensor's topic in General Discussion
Once more The Gospel pf Mary is not the Gospel of Mary Magadelene or Mary & Martha, or Mary Clopas (Mary The Mother’s sister). I also do not believe these lost books are God Breathed (2 Timothy 3:16) -
Gospel of Mary -Source of Catholicism?

I just find it bizarre that the Ever-Virgin stuff and most details about Mary are in this non-canonical book. Perhaps it was compiled to add legitimacy, but then they realized the canon was already closed. -
Gospel of Mary -Source of Catholicism?
Fidei Defensor replied to Fidei Defensor's topic in General Discussion
The Book of Mary Magdalene is a different book. This One is the Lost gospel of Mary The Mother. I found it in The Lost Books of the Bible, William Hone. I find it perplexing that the Roman Church considers this not canon and perhaps heresy, and yet all their prayers and ideas about Mary Queen of Heaven are in it. I mean the Hail Mary Prayer is in there! Which makes me wonder, is the RCC gnostic? That they incorporated prayers and beliefs from a gnostic book? -
It seems evident Roman Catholic tradition about Mary stem from a non-canonical book they reject called The Gospel of Mary, which even contains the “Hail Mary Prayer”:“Hail, Mary! Virgin of the Lord most acceptable! O Virgin full of Grace! The Lord is with you, you are blessed above all women, you are blessed above all men, that. have been hitherto born.” (Gospel of Mary, Chapter VII, Verse 3) The Gospel also contains the perpetual virginity of Mary, “THE blessed and ever glorious Virgin Mary, sprung from the royal race and family of David, was born in the city of Nazareth, and educated at Jerusalem, in the temple of the Lord.” (Gospel of Mary, Chapter I) It also contains Anna and Joachim, and Mary being visited by angels, dedicated at the tenple and so forth that Roman Catholics believe. The Gospel of Mary dates 5th Century, and is on Papyrus. But the 5th Century The Roman Catholic Church has already formed, with the Bishop of Rome (Pope) gaining favor. In contrast The New Testament dates 50-100 A.D. Our Lord Jesus died and rose in 33 A.D. So the New Testament is in lifetime of eyewitnesses, when the gospel of Mary is 400yrs after Christ. So it appears the “Hail Mary” and other Marian traditions are from this Gnostic gospel, that even Roman Catholic Church does not consider canon! What in the Olive Oil?!

There is no evidence the earth is flat, rather it is written that it is a sphere: “And Him (God) who sits [enthroned] on the sphere of The Earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretched out the Heavens like a vaulted bowl, and stretched them out as a tent for a dwelling.” (Isaiah 40:22, Aramaic Bible) Christopher Columbus pointer to this scripture to make the case that the earth was not flat.

Ecumenism: "Why Can't We Be Friends?"
Fidei Defensor replied to Fidei Defensor's topic in General Discussion
I think rhe best natural ecumenism I’ve seen is in Jerusalem. Everyone arrives as pilgrims, excited to see where our Lord Jesus and his apostles were. No one introduces themselves as “Lutheran,” “Baptist,” “and etc,” we all treat one another as One in Christ. It’s refreshing. -

Jesus tempted by Satan in the wilderness
Fidei Defensor replied to Mike Mclees's topic in General Discussion
There is actually a history here, it was The Lord Jesus Son of Man who caste Satan out of heaven (Ezekiel 28:11-19), not The Archangel Michael as RCC believe. Yes Michael and his angels fought the devil and his angels (Revelation 12:7-9), but Michael was unable to defeat the devil over the body of Moses until He called on the Lord, “But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”(Jude 1:9) So we then see Jesus Son of Man and Lord caste Satan out (Ezekiel 28:11-18). Now when Jesus took on human flesh and became like us, He limited himself: “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:5-11) Thus I believe Satan in his hubris thought he could make The Son fall, be caste down as He was. This is absurd to us because God is Good and there is no evil in him, nor can He sin. But the devil is blinded by the pride that blinded him in heaven, “Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground.” (Ezekiel 28:17), and “How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God, I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.” (Isaiah 14:12-15) -
“[24] When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?” [25] He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?” [26] And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are exempt.” (Matthew 17:24-26) “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26)

Church Attendance Has Taken a Huge Hit (Across the Board)
Fidei Defensor replied to TJGospels's topic in General Discussion
Yeah who knew The Seeker Friendly Movement would lead to closures? (Sarcasm). If one builds a Church on trends and what’s popular, then no one should be surprised when that church founded in the sand sinks when the waves come. -
The Hubble Telescope Took an image of the core of a nearby spiral galaxy and it is in the shape of a cross. I wondered is this the Sign of the Son of Man?, “And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:30) The Heavens can be space. the implications are fascinating, because it means only with the technology of our times is it visible. I am not saying its for sure the Sign, but it does intrigue me. Jesus is the Son of Man and his sign is the cross. And this is a cross in the heavens.

The Battle is Real. The Battle is Spiritual. What to do?
Fidei Defensor replied to Jayne's topic in General Discussion
He’s actually quoting St. Paul from Colossians, Galatians, Ephesians, Romans, and especially Philippians: “Philippians 3:4-11 [4] though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: [5] circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; [6] as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. [7] But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. [8] Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ [9] and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—[10] that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, [11] that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” If Jesus as Lord and Son of God is not your focus (Hebrews 12:2), and enough, then you arn’t Christian but are falling back into the law which is obsolete now (Hebrews 8;13) and fulfilled by Christ on our behalf, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. [3] For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1-4) The Cross is a divider, you either believe “It is Finished,” and Jesus saved you, or your don’t and hold to the traditions of men Of trying to save yourself and do all this law keeping. “For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.” (Philippians 3:18) “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” (Galatians 6:14) -
This passage always amazes me, “Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.” (1 Peter 4:1)
