Personal testimonies to the truth of Pentecostal faith https://www.therevivalfellowship.com/changed-lives-testimonies https://www.therevivalfellowship.com/changed-lives-testimonies/2022/god-proved-himself-to-daniel Daniel's testimony My conviction in Jesus Christ started in 1987. Prior to that date I always considered myself a Christian. I attended Sunday school when young. My belief was shaken though in 1985 during an English class debate at high school. The topic was "God vs Evolution". I was on the side of God and our team was comprehensively beaten. This was the start of my search for answers. Is there a God? Were we evolved? How did the universe come into being? I poured into books on religion, mysticism, spiritualism and science. I wanted proof. I wanted answers. One night February 1987 I prayed to God and asked if he could send me two angels to show me a miracle. I made a point that night if I do not get an answer I would be a non-believer. The next morning two men approached me in the mall and started telling me about their personal experience with God. They told me how they received the Holy Spirit and their lives changed. I was invited to their church and saw the people were full of joy and conviction in their belief. I got down on my knees and started praying, "God if you are real prove it to me". Immediately I was speaking another language, a language I do not understand. I was shown in the bible in the book of Acts chapter 2 how the disciples of Jesus all spoke in "tongues" when they received the Holy Spirit. I knew at that time God is real. That was the start of my conviction and true belief. I did not hesitate to get baptised by full immersion just as Jesus was baptised. Since then I have seen numerous miracles in my life. My two sons are miracles babies because we were told my wife would not be able to conceive. They are now 10 and 8 years old.

1Cor 14:18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. Yes I do I really do.
-
Is speaking in tongues the norm ? Yes it is for Pentecostal Christians.
-
I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. As for my Pentecostal church I rejoice greatly still these 26 years from when I was converted from being Roman Catholic to being born from above with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues.

Beware The Pseudo-Rapture Doctrine
Waggles replied to Walter and Deborah's topic in General Discussion
Luke 21:25 “And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, 21:26 people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 21:27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 21:28 Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Luke 21:34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. 21:35 For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 21:36 But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” -

Sure have done many times and have received the same many times gift of faith, gift of healings, gift of working miracles all alive and well in Pentecostal churches.

The gospel of salvation is about Christ crucified and his resurrection - his atonement for believers and disciples BUT those who believed in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Saviour were commanded to be born from above by water and Spirit. Not by any other means. John 3:5 Jesus answered, Amen, Amen, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. There was one way - and Acts and the epistles to the Pentecostal elect of the NT teach that there was one way - one gospel - one baptism - one faith. Remember in the NT there are no alternatives - no Roman Catholics; no Orthodox; no Lutherans and Protestants; no prosperity gospel; just Pentecostal doctrine. As for the nonsense claim that these signs were for the apostles is to deny Acts and the epistles to the Spirit-filled Pentecostal saints who all enjoyed these signs and the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit - just like Pentecostal disciples do so today.
-
Because Mark 16 - signs shall follow - is not the same as 1Corinthians 12 - gifts of the Spirit distributed in the body of Christ different words Read Acts which clearly specifies the growth of the Christian church and the conversion of people to disciples of Christ Jesus - born from above by water baptism and Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the sign [evidence] of speaking in a new tongue. As for quoting Paul in respect to his question "do all speak in tongues?" (1Cor 12:30) that is in the chapter explaining the distribution of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit that actively work in the Spirit-filled ekklesia. Mark 16 these signs shall ... G4592 sēmeion 1) a sign, mark, token 1a) that by which a person or a thing is distinguished from others and is known 1Cor 12 gift(s) of ... G5486 charisma 1) a favour with which one receives without any merit of his own 2) the gift of divine grace 3) the gift of faith, knowledge, holiness, virtue As you can read these two words 'signs' and 'gifts' are different from each other.

Given that the original gospel is Pentecostal - stands to reason YES.
-
Depends in what you mean by hearing his voice ? God told me ... ... There are two witnesses to God and the gospel of salvation - his written word and his Spirit. John 14:25 These things have I spoken to you, while abiding with you. 26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 27 I leave you peace; my peace I give to you: not as the world giveth, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither be it fearful.

Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Romans 8:12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

That is unscriptural and wrong doctrine. This is what it means to be born from above John 3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, Nicodemus his name, a ruler of the Jews: 2 the same came unto him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs which thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said to him, Amen, Amen, I say unto thee, Except one be born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of *God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born being an old man? can he enter a second time into the womb of his mother, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Amen, Amen, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 What is born of the flesh is flesh; and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said to thee, Ye must be born from above. 8 The Spirit breatheth where he willeth, and thou hearest his voice, but knowest not whence he cometh, and whither he goeth: so is everyone born of the Spirit. And the word of God [Jesus] confirms his own teaching on this Acts 2:38 And Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized each of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all that heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision that believed were amazed, who came with Peter, because that on the nations also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can anyone forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we? Acts 19:4 And Paul said, John baptized a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe unto him that should come after him, that is, unto Jesus. 5 And when they heard this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel other than what we preached to you, let him be anathema.

Paul as in all the epistles is writing to the Pentecostal ekklesia of whom all have been baptized in water and in the Holy Spirit with the sign of speaking in tongues - a Spirit-filled church that in addition also enjoyed the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as healings and miracles. Galatians 1:2 and all the brethren with me, to the churches of Galatia: 3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins, that he deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of God and our Father: 5 to whom the glory unto the ages of the ages. Amen. 6 I marvel that ye are so quickly removing from him that called you in Christ’s grace unto a different gospel; 7 which is not another: only there are some that trouble you, and wish to pervert the gospel of the Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel other than what we preached to you, let him be anathema. 9 As we have said before, so say I now again, If any preacheth to you a gospel other than what ye received, let him be anathema. 10 For am I now seeking men’s favour, or God’s? or am I seeking to please men? if I were still pleasing men, I should not be Christ’s bondman. Gal 3:5 Who therefore supplieth you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, is it from works of law, or from the hearing of faith?

Mark 16:15 And he said to them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Who hath believed and is baptized shall be saved; but who hath disbelieved shall be condemned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that have believed: in my name shall they cast out demons, speak with tongues; 18 and in their hands they shall take up serpents, and if they drink aught deadly, it shall in now wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And THEY went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, [Men] Brethren, what shall we do? 38 And Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized each of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him. 40 And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this crooked generation. 41 They then that received his word were baptized: and in that day were added about three thousand souls. Acts 10:33 Forthwith therefore I sent unto thee; and THOU hast done well to come. Now therefore WE are all here present before God, to hear all things commanded thee of the Lord. 10:43 To him [Jesus] all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth unto him receiveth remission of sins. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all that heard the word. 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then asked they him to tarry certain days.

That is because the majority of Christians are loyal to their historic denominations and pastor based faiths - the church of Rome has done her work well. Matthew 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate, because broad is the gate and spacious is the road that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it, 14 because narrow is the gate and constricted is the road that leads to life, and there are few who find it! The full gospel is never going to be a majority religion.

1Cor 14:2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. 1Cor 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful. 15 What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also. Jude 1:17 But YE beloved, remember the words spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18 that they said to you, In the last time mockers shall be, walking after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These are they who make separations, having only soul, not having Spirit. 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Mark 3:28 Amen I say unto you, [that] All things shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, the sins and the blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 but whoso shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath not forgiveness unto the age, but is guilty of an eternal sin: 30 because they were saying, He hath an unclean spirit.

Yes Jesus is saying this is for everyone. There are no exemptions to Jesus' statement that these signs shall follow them that believe ... that is inclusive. People who do not believe the Pentecostal gospel of salvation do not have these signs following them. Speaking in tongues is the sign or evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit which shall follow believers; while gifts of the Spirit are distributed to saints individually as the Spirit wills. Three of these voice gifts are used exclusively in worship meetings and to be done decently and in order in accordance with the instructions written out in 1Cor 14; Note: the gift of tongues is properly - 'to another various kinds of tongues' - 'to another varieties of the gift of tongues' - 'to another, diverse kinds of tongues' - this more accurately describes what is going on with the operation of this gift: that is a person who already can and does pray in tongues is able to speak aloud in a different sounding unknown tongue in a meeting. In our Pentecostal church everybody, young and old, baptized in the Holy Spirit can pray in tongues, but not all operate the gift of diverse tongues, or the gift of interpretation or the gift of prophecy.

1Cor 14:12 So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church. 14:13 Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret. 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful. 14:15 What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.

The manifestations of the Holy Spirit in the Pentecostal ekklesia are best described as follows 1Cor 12:1 Now concerning the spirituals, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 2 Ye know that as nations ye were led away unto those dumb idols, howsoever ye might be led. 3 Wherefore I make known to you, that no one speaking by God’s Spirit saith, Jesus is anathema; and no one can say, Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit. 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of workings, but the same God, who worketh all the things in all. 7 But to each is given the manifestation of the Spirit to profit. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit a word of wisdom; and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit: 9 to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit; 10 and to another workings of powers; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits: to another kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues; 11 but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each severally even as he willeth. I have used some of these gifts as necessary over the years. Wonderful power.

In addition to the above the most immediate manifestations of the indwelling Holy Spirit of God in a Pentecostal disciple are speaking in tongues - the Bible evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit miracles and healings along with laying hands on the sick understanding the word of God - being enlightened knowing that God is alive and enjoying the power of God in one's walk Mark 16:15 And [Jesus] said to them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. Mar 16:16 Who hath believed and is baptized shall be saved; but who hath disbelieved shall be condemned. Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that have believed: in my name shall they cast out demons, speak with tongues; Mar 16:18 and in their hands they shall take up serpents, and if they drink aught deadly, it shall in now wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Acts 2:4 And all were filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision that believed were amazed, who came with Peter, because that on the nations also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Acts 19:5 And when they heard this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 19:6 And when Paul had laid hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. James 5:13 Is any among you suffering? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise. 14 Is any among you sick? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, having anointed him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 and the prayer of faith shall save the weary one, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.

That is why there are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit generously dispersed within a Pentecostal congregation - the body of Christ - for the edifying and teaching of the saints. One of them being - discerning of spirits. 1Cor 12:7 But to each is given the manifestation of the Spirit to profit. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit a word of wisdom; and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit: 9 to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit; 10 and to another workings of powers; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits: to another kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues; 11 but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each severally even as he willeth. discerning and testing the spirits is vital - but unfortunately like the Corinthians there are those who are out out of order and dysfunctional. Charismatics versus Pentecostals.
