My sister has cancer and will be having 5 weeks of chemo and radiation. She is also the caregiver for my father who has Alzheimers. I will be caregiving them both. I was wondering if anyone has any tips for me to help my sister be as comfortable as possible during this difficult time? Prayers for me would be greatly appreciated.

What are some practical things you do when you are feeling overwhelmed?

So I see that chronic, unconfessed sin can cause us to be handed over to Satan. I do not believe that this is the case for me. But interesting and got me looking deeper in my life.

Which leads me back to my question. Job led a righteous life, yet Satan was allowed to attack him physically. Also, Jesus, when asked (regarding the man blind since birth) who sinned he or his parents said neither sinned. Satan has no reason to attack people who are not living a righteous life. So does he physically attack us? Yet there is truth in your statement that he does tempt us to adopt unhealthy lifestyles. If I shun doctors for my physical ailments I may be contributing to their continuation.

Lets say the person does their best to be healthy. They don’t smoke, drink alcohol, take drugs or eat fast foods. They exercise, and try to eat well. They love God, meditate on His word and are pursuing His purpose for their life.

Do you think satan attacks us physically as he did Job?

Is anyone out there struggling with an illness or just does not feel well but still able to work and maintain a normal lifestyle? I could use some encouragement.

I believe that is how the expression goes. Anyway I contacted an acquaintance to get together but she had things going on. We finally decided to get together a week after my initial invitation. That morning she cancelled, saying she pulled a muscle in her back and was going to the chiropractor. I told her I was concerned and was there anything I could do but heard nothing. I contacted another acquaintance wanted to get together with her and another girl. They all say they are very busy, no time but we finally decided on Monday. Received a text today “Let’s take a rain check”. How did it get so hard to have a friendly get together? I don’t feel that bad about it but it’s sad that this is the way things seem to be now.

Hi Triover, I too was bullied at my job but not nearly as bad as you. I was yelled at, called names, it was horrible. The company I worked for sold but the person who bullied me is seemingly doing well, while I have no job. The only way I found peace was to forgive my perpetrator and as Tezphanyahu said they may seem to have it all in this world but we have Jesus for eternity.

I also have been reading an article called “When do you need dental deep cleaning”. This article was on Angie’s List and they say you do not have to have a full deep clean that the area that has a problem can be deep cleaned. This article was pretty negative about it. They said that it is an expensive up sell.

I heard that once you have a deep clean you always have to have a deep clean. This may be rumor, it’s just what I heard. They will only do one side at a time, maybe even broken into four quadrants, upper right, lower right, etc. They numb that side of the mouth as it is invasive. Dentists are pushing more and more for these deep cleans. I believe it is just a way for them to make money. Insurance most often will not cover this procedure, why I ask? They deem it unnecessary. My irritation is that they are my teeth and if I want a normal clean I should be able to get one. Dentists are keeping more people away with this ploy then would normally happen. That’s my two cents.

I recently went through a lot of anxiety over stuff like this and one day God said I want to deliver you of that spirit of offense.....hmmmm....I shared this with a coworker and she shared her testimony about how she would be hurt and offended by others all the time until God took that away from her....she prayed with me and I haven't suffered anxiety anymore nor suffered hurt by others remarks insensitive remarks towards me....seeing things in a whole new perspective these days and I have great joy and peace over it. Thank you and if you could pray for me that would be most appreciated.

So I wanted to let you know how things were going. So I took what you said to heart and decided that the next time the ridicule and yelling happened at work I would show her mercy, kindness and forgiveness as the Lord has done for me. I almost smiled the next time it happened. I did not get angry, I felt somewhat at peace. I did want to say that when she yells something happens in my brain and I have a hard time thinking clearly for a moment. I hope this gets better with continued help from the Holy Spirit.

I am surprised that you do not feel that you have any friends here. We love each other because we have a mutual love for Christ. I believe that makes us friends. We may not know each other intimately but that comes with time.

I believe that we will be offended in this life, we will feel anger, but then we must overlook the offense. We need to give grace and empathy to the offender and remember that we have our security in Christ not in what others think or do. It is in those situations that we are to ask the Holy Spirit for help to extend that grace and empathy and He will do it. (I am really not good at this but I am learning)

Hi, I want you to know that we have all been where you are. Don’t feel hopeless, you are on the winning team. One of my favorite verses when I am feeling uncertain is Isaiah 41:10 “Do not be afraid for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Really dig into His word, it will bring you peace. Praying for you.
