I have put together all the scriptures in the NT that contain the two words body and spirit--as you can see the term 'spirit body' is nowhere mentioned. A spirit and a body are very distinct things. This is a very common misunderstanding. Is Christ's body a 'spiritual body' that question becomes difficult. He has a body as evidenced by many things that happened after His resurrection and interaction with many people. God is a Spirit--which relates as I see things to a Nature of Life--but I don't feel comfortable trying to understand that. What we are addressing is the new bodies we will have after the change. We will not be 'disembodied spirits'. This corruption will become incorruptible. Only substance can be corrupted in the context of what Paul wrote. Death will be swallowed up and eliminated from any possibility for us after Christ Returns. ----1John 3:2 (NAS20S) Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.---- Acts 19:12 (NAS20S) so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out. Rom. 8:10 (NAS20S) If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Rom. 8:13 (NAS20S) for if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Rom. 8:23 (NAS20S) And not only that, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons and daughters, the redemption of our body. 1Cor. 5:3 (NAS20S) For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present. 1Cor. 5:5 (NAS20S) I have decided to turn such a person over to Satan for the destruction of his body, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. 1Cor. 6:19 (NAS20S) Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 1Cor. 7:34 (NAS20S) and his interests are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 1Cor. 12:13 (NAS20S) For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Eph. 4:4 (NAS20S) There is one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one hope of your calling; Col. 2:5 (NAS20S) For even though I am absent in body, I am nevertheless with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your orderly manner and the stability of your faith in Christ. 1Th. 5:23 (NAS20S) Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. James 2:26 (NAS20S) For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Honestly--when I see him talking, I feel like I need to take a bath.

Exactly--this is a problem that yet persists under this administration. The bad guys run deep.

I disagree on one point--or perhaps to further clarify by commenting. I think it is a mistake so refer to a 'spirit body'. Spirit is breath and in this case is the breath of Life. A specific Life--Christ. Christ's resurrection body was flesh and bone. No need any longer for the blood. In a natural man the life is in the blood. In the resurrected bodies our Life is Christ--which becomes the completion of what we are sealed for. It is also clear that we will have additional capabilities although scripture (that I am aware of) only mentions one. Christ could walk through walls--somehow. Corruption will put on incorruption. An incorruptible body. I do not think this hermeneutic is simply splitting hairs. Consider it.

Not knowing how many read the daily devotions that George posts, but I wanted to draw some attention to today's. This is truly a word of encouragement to all and more so to all for us into the future. David's loss and struggles were complete during this time in his life and yet he knew God was his protection and comfort. God was his vindication.

I must admit that I am concerned. There are forces that think a weakened Russia is the goal here, but I think a weakened Russia is a dangerous Russia.

I woke in the wee hours with this old hymn on my mind. On a hill far away, stood an old rugged Cross The emblem of suff'ring and shame And I love that old Cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross Till my trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the old rugged Cross And exchange it some day for a crown Oh, that old rugged Cross so despised by the world Has a wondrous attraction for me For the dear Lamb of God, left his Glory above To bear it to dark Calvary So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross Till my trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the old rugged Cross And exchange it some day for a crown In the old rugged Cross, stain'd with blood so divine A wondrous beauty I see For the dear Lamb of God, left his Glory above To pardon and sanctify me So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross Till my trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the old rugged Cross And exchange it some day for a crown To the old rugged Cross, I will ever be true Its shame and reproach gladly bear Then He'll call me some day to my home far away Where his glory forever I'll share So I'll cherish the old rugged Cross Till my trophies at last I lay down I will cling to the old rugged Cross And exchange it some day for a crown

What does the Old Testament teach about Hell?
Alive replied to Marston's topic in General Discussion
Just to add to the conversation hell in the KJV is a wrong translation and should not be so rendered. -
Christ's kingdom will never be physically on this earth

What kind of weapons can be used as farming tools? Or are the verses symbolic and if so, of what? -
The Apostle Paul - why some want to dismiss him

I think the notion is foolishness and that is mild. Its plain that God made sure the Church has exactly what we need in the canon. -

I suggest a good study to make is regarding the two ages. This current age and the age to come. Read through the scriptures and list the characteristics of each. Start with what Jesus said here: Luke 20:34 (NAS20S) Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and the women are given in marriage, 35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; -

A good example of how to tell whether something is of His Spirit...the Holy Spirit's two primary functions for us are to convict of sin and point to Christ. In any assembly Christ must be the Head, the focus and reason for gathering. -

This is scary! To think there could be many more under your feet. -
Or… The Hebrew transliteration of the Latin spelling of “Nero Caesar” totals 616, just as the Hebrew transliteration of the Greek, which includes an additional letter (Greek: “n”=50, English transliteration: “n”=50), renders 666. Thus, two seemingly unrelated numbers lead you to the same doorstep—that of a beast named Nero Caesar.

I am sorry I was not more clear. What I mean is that I have never met anyone with whom I agree 100%. This isn't a criticism, it is what it is. -

50 plus years ago when Christ revealed Himself to me He led me to Watchman Nee and the Lord used his writings to lay a solid foundation in me before ever joining a congregation. After some time the pastor where I found myself asked me to teach a study based on what I had consumed. I very much to this day thank the Lord for WN. Much time has passed and the core of that remains and has been strengthened...Christ is my Life. I died and yet I live. I don't think I agree with anybody in total. Witness Lee is a very, very different fella. I never read his stuff--but I recall the little I did many years ago--caused me to run. Along with the Normal Christian Life I suggest Sit, Walk and Stand and Changed into His Likeness and What Shall This Man Do. T. Austin Sparks can be very helpful as well. -
I think you are correct. Many years ago a fellowship I was part of practiced washing our feet as a way of remembering what I think is the meaning. The feet is a metaphor, so to speak for that which picks up dust from the earth as we walk and live in this fallen world that needs cleaning up. We can accomplish this by ministering to one another in fellowship. We know that we are 'clean' as Christ said and have His imputed 'Righteousness' and yet we are subject to worldly dust. There is much more that can be said about this.

I think seeing that sanctify is basically a setting aside for a Purpose--and in this context His Purpose--our sanctification begins when we are Born again into His Kingdom. We are set apart for Him and His Purpose. Our ongoing sanctification is evidenced by His working in us--"we are changed into His likeness from one degree of glory to another" We who are in Christ of the Father have been set aside from the rest of humanity--indeed from the old man Adam into the New Man--Christ. His Eternal Purpose is to have a People--but much more a Family after Kind. His Kind. This is an immutable principle established at Creation's beginning.

Stay there for while and see how it goes. Try to go to an after church get together and get to know folks.
