Anyone else feel "black-listed"?
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Yeah I just always somehow knew that the modern Internet way of finding jobs or finding employees was really just going to end up benefiting only about the top 10% or so, while the rest of those such as myself would just get lost in the mix. But it is what it is and all one can do is keep praying, trusting in God and waiting for a minor miracle, which a job nowadays often ends up being!! -
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep." (Psalms 127:2)
-
"Then the king shall do according to his will; and shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods..." (Daniel 11:36-NKJV) Its been said that there are millions of gods in Hinduism but isn't really agreed upon, but there are 6 major deities. Other religions worship very many as well and obviously Antichrist will take it seriously enough to exalt himself above them all.

Anyone else feel "black-listed"?
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well with me personally I can see nothing wrong with my appearance or the way I express myself and answer questions. Maybe many employers nowadays are simply looking for a certain "type" that would fit well in there company or establishment, even if it's only some local no name restaurant or menial labor job? Of course age could have a lot to do with it but why even bother to call someone in if that was going to be an issue? -
Well even after all the times I've read it I am still somewhat surprised by Christ's reaction to the servant who hid his "talent" in the ground. It sounds like God was really angry at him and not at all hesitant to have him cast into the outer darkness! Now that is a SCARY thought if you are one who tends to make light of works and puts all your stock into Faith ALONE! Or maybe I'm just missing the main message from this parable?

I was basically just wondering if anyone else was having the same great difficulties as I have had in finding employment of any kind?? It just seems like I am either getting no responses or when I do they end up rejecting me without saying specifically why. Not that employers are obligated in any way to explain why they didn't pick you for the job, but it just seems like once they meet and see me in person they suddenly no longer like me. Now I know I could easily be assuming way too much as far as someone's reaction goes, but it's just been so long and hard in trying to find any job at all, and seems like if you don't have a near spotless past then you will most likely not be well received or at least not trusted enough to be offered any kind of job.

All I know is from hearing some preachers/teachers questioning or even ignoring the book of James, but praising Paul for r his Epistles of GRACE...which are essential of course, but at the same time if you do have faith then you will or should have some WORKS also to back up what you believe in.

The coming Messiah..... True or False Messiah?...... or both?
CaptWalker replied to JoeCanada's topic in Prophecy
As a young Christian I always believed in the notion that Antichrist would be much more of a world leader or tyrant since that was all I ever heard. But then I began to notice that this was mostly taught by those who believed in the pre trib rapture. I guess because if he came as a Messiah figure and was all about love and world peace then there would be no real reason for a rapture. But as far as him claiming to be THE Messiah is open to debate. But I believe at the very least he will claim to have the same authority as Christ which would explain how he could put an end to the daily sacrifices. But since they are no longer being practiced maybe it is referring to the daily prayers the Jews are engaging in at the wailing wall? And since he claims to be God/YHVH then the only prayers should be directed towards him, but can't say for sure. One thing I do know is that if the Jews wanted a new temple so bad then surely they would have already started to build one? Unless of course they are hoping to take possession of the Temple Mount? And maybe the Antichrist will even help to bring that to pass, but how long they keep itt could be depending on whether they will take the Mark of the beast. And maybe the fact that they won't is the reason he brings the sacrifices to an end, but am only speculating? -
Maybe that is when Christ will return, not this year of course! Actually I feel that season has more to do with Antichrist such as in Revelation 11:10...🕎🎁🎄🤔

"Why is light given to him who is in misery, and life to the bitter in soul, "Who long for death but it comes not, and dig for more than for hidden treasures. "Who rejoice exceedly and are glad when they can find the grave. "Why is light given to a man who's way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?" (Job 3:20-23)

"The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, Light has dawned." (Matthew 4:16)

You're right, I should have also said whether they had a strong belief/faith... but then why would they have committed suicide if that were true is the real question, or how would that even be possible? But I believe that a "momentary lapse of reason" is a real condition associated with a mental illness that could cause someone to do something very horrible on the spur of the moment. Whether this could happen to a true Christian is just something we can't say beyond any doubt. All I know is that many believers suffer from all kinds of mental issues. Another forum I used to participate in had several sub categories dealing with all these conditions of which there were MANY discussions about things people were currently dealing with and I was actually shocked that it was that bad. But how God will judge such people is just something I don't even try to presume since it's just none of my business, and will leave it at that.
-
One more thing, why is there no scripture that condemns killing oneself??;That alone tells me that the individual does not go straight to hell, but it's up to God to judge their actions and whether or not they were truly sorry for what they had done at the moment they had done it. Of course whether they believed in Christ as Savior plays a MAJOR role in that!

"For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and the trees of the field shall clap their hands." (Isaiah 55:12-ESV)

I would agree with most everything said regarding suicide whether it involves a Vet or just someone from any walk of life. I would however point out that even those who are physically disabled may very well be suffering from mental illness as well. And as far as homeless Vets go, they may never actually ask for help but if they are broke and hungry I would bet they show up at food banks or for other social services. Ive even seen a few in full fatigues with signs saying "need help" or something along those lines. But of course it could just be someone impersonating one. So if one ever asks me for a handout I guess I should probably just assume they are not a real Vet and ignore them, or I could just ask why they have forgotten there "training"...?
-
Well I really wouldn't consider trying to help a Vet suffering from severe PTSD and suicidal tendencies to be a simple matter. But I know what you mean by assuming that it's all about the VA and what they could be doing more of to help. But at the same time if they were "trained" to not seek help, that on the other hand does seem like a clear and simple reason why they wouldn't. But I also was just curious how organizations such as Wounded Warrior Project are using funds to help Vets. And when you watch those commercials is sure sounds to me like they are seeking help and are very grateful for all the donations that people send.
-
Well just who are you to judge me by saying I'm not wanting to help, and just how pray tell would you presume to know what I'm trying to accomplish here...?! Either way it doesn't matter since obviously I accomplished very little. But any time you bring up the subject of Veterans someone is usually going to find something offensive about it. just a touchy subject that I suppose is not really even worth discussing?
-
Well the only thing is that I have mostly heard from those who say God does not and cannot create Evil...so obviously there must be another interpretation of this verse from the Hebrew manuscripts, which unfortunately most people would never have access to...? So maybe someone else could better explain or enlighten us all regarding Strongs Hebrew #7451 as defining the word "evil"... but I really cant even confirm that is the correct word from an online Bible concordance? And i am not really in the mood to get into some kind of debate about this or anything else. But I do appreciate the replies to my original question.

Why did Jesus say this?
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well I've never even heard it explained that way so thanks for that! Actually all I've ever heard is that it was all about Jesus and really nothing about Peter, and then nothing further is really said about it, at least not about Peter. But I always just knew there was more to it than that. And not sure if it applies to this or is even a good analogy, but if I ever came across one of those Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol I would quote this verse to them. -
Matthew 26:52- .. for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword." Is this referring to self defense in general or just that you shouldn't use any kind of weapon against someone who is only threatening you just as those who had come to take Jesus?

"The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea even the wicked for the day of evil." Was just wondering how others interpreted this even though I lean more towards it saying what it means literally. Now maybe you could interpret it as He chose to USE the wicked for that specific time period only after they chose to go bad, which He would have foreknown even before they were born. And Jeremiah 1:5 says..."Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."

"For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth." (JOB 19:25)
-
Well I guess that would explain why there are so many suicides among Veterans. I really cant blame them for not seeking help when even many so-called "counselors" that you would pay $$$ to see are really not very good. So I can only imagine what some of the free services that the VA offers would be like? But then again maybe it's just simple pride and feeling like you should be able to deal with any mental problems from having been in combat, since after all they did a hell of a good job just to make it through all that, but i never served so am really only guessing.
-
Also i just thought i would mention that according to our National statistics there are over 8000 Veterans who commit suicide every year, and over 5000 of them are over 50 years old, meaning it had been a lingering issue that they finally just couldn't deal with anymore, which makes it that much more tragic, and you would think the V.A. would have been able to do something for them as far as counseling,medication/treatment,etc., but apparently not?!
