  1. I generally stay away from long threads as it is difficult to jump into something when there have been so many rabbit trails. Also, as others have pointed out, when people start a thread on a soap box and are not looking for any kind of discourse that is "iron sharpening iron" there really is no point in participating. I will try to engage in threads where the comments are edifying.
  2. Acts 10:9-16 "And on the next day, as they were on their way an approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray. But he became hungry and was desiring to eat. And while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance and saw heaven open up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground, and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the sky. And a voice came to him, 'Rise up, Peter, slaughter and eat!' But Peter said, 'By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything defiled and unclean.' Again a voice came to him a second time, 'What God has cleansed, no longer consider defiled.' And this happened three times and immediately the object was taken up into heaven."
  3. The dietary restrictions were lifted in the New Testament. Disobedience is evidence of the state of the heart.
  4. The topic is really related to defilement. That is what the ceremonial laws were all about in the Old Testament, handling how to become clean once someone has become defiled. Jesus, in the New Testament, is pointing out that it is not external things that are what defiles, or corrupts, a person but what comes from inside. This speaks to our fundamental nature without Him.
  5. Here are a couple verses to consider in this discussion: "And He was saying, 'That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man.'" Mark 7:20 "It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." Matthew 15:11
  6. It is shaping up to be a land-slide in Trump's favor. The thing we need to do, other than actually vote, is to check the ballot before it is submitted. There have been reports in areas that are doing early voting is that the machines are flipping the votes. Voter fraud is a thing, and the Dems will certainly try to pull off another election steal.
  7. This would make sense if there are no passing lanes available and the lead car is going below the posted speed limit.
  8. I am somewhat assertive and defensive. Where I live it is nerve-wracking at times when you try to leave a good amount of space between you and the vehicle in front of you and other people think it is there for them to merge into. Most people around here tailgate, so leaving a good cushion of space is paramount in the eventual case where someone gets rear-ended in front of me and I don't want to become a part of the pile-up.
  9. No worries. Just giving credit where credit is due.
  10. Sorry, but that is a Bill Engval bit, not Jeff Foxworthy. Jeff does the "You might be a redneck if..."
  11. Some would call that their "prayer language." I have only come to see it, or hear it, as nonsense.
  12. This also has roots going back as far as the Second Great Awakening and has found a home among Pentecostal and Assembly of God churches. One problem I have seen while attending one of these types of churches is they put emphasis on speaking in tongues which really has no place in our modern world where the bible has been translated into almost every language that is currently in use.
  13. I found it interesting that she mentioned legislation that was proposed during the early part of the Biden administration, but nothing ever came of it. They had 4 years to devise a viable solution for the border crisis but did nothing. Or more importantly, did not want to do anything. Now they have even more illegals that will vote. However, what they don't realize is that anyone who came over the border who is not a criminal will most likely either not vote, or vote for Trump after they see how the Democrats treat the working class, which is the exact sector of the population these people are coming into.
  14. It would depend on what type of computer you are using and your browser. Basically, there should be a way to clear your browsing history.
  15. Just because you haven't heard of it does not mean it hasn't happened before. With the advent of social media, we are hearing things we never would have otherwise even through the news. There has always been a gay community, it has just become more out in the open within the last couple/few decades. Inflation has always been a thing. I remember growing up having to line up for government cheese among other things.
  16. It can be argued that we have been experiencing all of that for over 2000 years.
  17. Have you tried clearing your cache?
  18. The only reason anyone would be ashamed of their humanness (sin nature) is that they have been saved and are being sanctified.
  19. So do people who were brought into the country by the Democrats, at least until they find out what that actually means. I have been seeing reports that immigrants who went through the right process to come into this country will vote against Democratic candidates.
  20. Yes, but we should all be wary of the possibly impending corruption that will ultimately hand Harris the presidency regardless of how many people will actually vote for her. This election is shaping up to be astronomically worse than the last one.
  21. Huh, if only there were a way to prevent people from crossing borders in such a fashion. Honestly, this administration is reminiscent of a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest.
  22. There is no such thing as free will, therefore, it has no effect on faith. God saves by grace through faith. It is not faith that we manifest somehow by ourselves, it is something that is a gift from God when salvation is imparted to us through the work of Christ on the cross.
  23. So, Biden picked Kamala Harris as his VP running mate. Completely predictable and an amazing example of hypocrisy at the same time. Someone whose ancestors owned slaves in Jamaica and doesn't feel any responsibility for that fact, while at the same time suggesting white people whose ancestors owned slaves here in America are completely responsible. Maybe we should start a war against Egypt because of how they had Hebrew slaves thousands of years ago, even though, at the time, they were sufficiently dealt with by God.
  24. How does that hold any water to the fact that scientists have found living organisms in some of the most inhospitable places on this planet? The assumptions made with evolution is that the building blocks of life were spread all over this universe by the big bang. So, it would stand to reason that if there is water, which means the environment is warm enough it is not frozen, and cool enough for it not vaporize, there is a chance life would develop. And, if the suggested age of the universe is anything to go by, and how scientists assume a certain timeframe to become sentient has already passed, then it would stand to reason there is actually intelligent life under the surface of ice planets/moons. Of course I subscribe to the young earth theory, that being that the universe and everything in it is only a little over 6000 years old. So, with that in mind it is less likely that there is life of any kind anywhere but on this planet, as God designed it.
  25. Bible alone means to use the Bible as the core source for all doctrine and theology. It is possible to employ confessions, catechisms, and creeds, but if there is any portion of those that is not supported by, or is in contradiction of, the bible it must be dismissed and/or corrected to support biblical Truth.
