  1. Perhaps I made an insignificant error. ¿Quien sabe? Please reply with your opinion AFTER you read this book: What Demons Can Do to Saints By: Merrill F. Unger MOODY PUBLISHERS / 1991 / PAPERBACK With his trademark candor and insight, Merrill Unger attempts to answer a common question (perhaps the most common one) pertaining to demons: "Can a Christian be indwelt by a demon? Can a child of God be demon possessed?" The answers to this question run the gamut from a definitive no! (with an implied statement of the inability of demons to afflict Christians) to an equally definitive yes! (with the implication that a Christian can be totally controlled by demonic forces). Unger favors an answer that lies somewhere in the middle, and accepts that even Christians can be afflicted by demons, if they, through sin, allow the devil a foothold. Unger recognizes the nature of the battle we find ourselves in, and this book, published in 1977, functions as a prophetic look at our own culture. Though Unger died in 1980, his understanding of satanic and demonic activities then paints a vivid picture of what has happened now through the occult and the rise of ritual satanism. Here is one site from where you can buy it. https://www.christianbook.com/what-demons-can-do-to-saints/merrill-unger/9780802494184/pd/94188#CBD-PD-Description
  2. This is not meant to be mean or nasty. Your post demonstrates the primary reason why I strongly object to superficial, not found in Scriptures answers that too many post here. No, there is NOTHING I dislike about your post, and the fact that you correctly state that the primary factor in mental illness is a chemical imbalance in the brain is a big plus. Simply put, in mental illness, the brain, an organ in the body does not work as it should. And while I never doubt any of the gifts of Holy Spirit, I do not find any evidence in the Scriptures where people speaking in tongues can cause an alteration of brain chemistry whereby the mentally ill person is suddenly free of mental health problems. Having been a case manager for seriously mentally ill people, and including my own abuse from which I developed rage sufficient to commit murder, and having the hyper vigilantism of PTSD I can state without equivocation that the genesis of the disease is multi faceted. As a pastor, I have seen it caused by demonetization. (Once they asked me if I wanted to be mentally ill) I told them where to go., and they left me.. Therefore, I commend you for your honesty, and I also ask you if you are in a Christian support group such as Celebrate Recovery. they follow the 12 step AA model, but they begin each meeting with a full hour of worship, and have no qualms about saying that Jesus Christ is the ONLY "higher power" To get more data on them. do a web search on "Celebrate Recovery" adding your zip code.continue doing the Good Work knowing that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
  3. I am glad that you are now open to getting new ideas.. According to the current law regarding medicare/medicade (not the same things) there is a 5 year exclusion period that if your mom should need one of them, the state can take her house for payment of final expenses. If she does something like a "quick deed" and gives her home to you, or your brothers jointly or separately, she can avoid the state taking over her residence when she does go to live in a nursing home. I was talking to a lawyer this morning about this thing. My wife is in a skilled nursing home. She will never be able to live with me as we once were. and I have ALS. My death will come when I can no longer breathe on a ventilator. Therefore I need to find a way to avoid paying taxes in this state, and let my son and his children benefit from this real estate.. Of course if you are wealthy and a socialist, then you may wish to pay all the taxes that the government wants you to pay (roll eyes) you are free to do that, and not worry about future consequences of poor financial management. But if your mom believes in the stewardship of her assets, it is always good to look at options. For sure, doing that can save money. Indeed, there is a cost to hiring a legal professional, but the cost of NOT hiring an attorney will be greater, and emotionally draining; it can take a toll on the survivors. Make sense?
  4. Congrats on your continuing recovery. There is nothing that "annoys me off" more than a practitioner of "psycho-babble" Therefore, I created this true, honest and accurate response. After posting it 99% of the abuse stops immediately. You are free to use it.. "You are not licensed in any state to practice your psycho babble. Even if you were a licensed professional, you would know that it is malpractice to do as you are doing over the internet. Should it continue, I shall not hesitate to seek legal action to stop you." Hope this helps because it draws the line, it is not a direct threat, and it invites moderator action on the offender..
  5. O how I want to go snarky! We will all die, And because I have a permanent, progressive service-connected disability, I am acutely aware of how I shall die. I pray for grace for my son who as my health care proxy will eventually authorize someone to turn off the ventilator. While I see this as an opportunity to tell others about the hope that lies within me., there is no stopping this downward spiral, short of a miracle, no matter if I am cured, or not it is certain that I WILL DIE. Therefore, I will not play "ostrich" and bury my head in the sand. Since I love my son, and my wife requires skilled nursing, thus rationally preparing for the inevitable is an act of my love to them. To not do that is simply selfish irresponsibility. It is also important to understand that the "family dance" of the OP writer and her mother is "wish away the inevitable" pretending that unpleasant things will magically go away. That that is simply irrational, and it causes many more problems that are utterly unnecessary. That is why pre-planning is so vital. Planning ahead makes it easier to do the work of grieving because the "tick-tock" of funeral expenses division of assets and legal issues have been already settled. From the "in-your-face response I had previously from the OP writer, I believe than another "scolding" shall come, and that really is OK because I expect it, and I shall not get personally involved. The adage "Once burned, twice burned" is appropriate. My response, and yours of compassionately expressing the need for reasonable forethought may not be able to derail the dysfunctional dance denying reality in their family, but I commend you for following up .
  6. Well no we don't. As we are not going through with this. So as of now I see no need for any legal advice. Edited 11 hours ago by LadyKay I wrote what I wrote about a half day before you posted your snarky, scolding comment. Therefore, I had on indication that you both changed your mind.. If this is how you treat another poster who gave correct answer based upon personal experiences, then please refrain from asking anyone on any forum to assist your decision-making :-(
  7. BOTH of you need legal advice. Making an appointment and setting up something like a "Quick Claim Deed" will save you more money than the charge for legal services. Actually, it is a way to "buy peace of mind" Get a recommendation from your local Bar Association, or an organization like the nearest Agency on Aging. My intuition tells me that there may be more to this than she is letting on.
  8. Seriously? How can a "trip down Charasmania Lane" with the Gifts of Holy Spirit be a cure for mental illness? There is no direct support for that statement anywhere in the Bible, nor does Paul mention self healing as any spiritual gift. Even James, half brother of Jesus in chapter 5 of his Epistle does not go that far. Therefore, my caution is justified.. BTW just for the sake of clarification, I am one believing that the Gifts of Holy Spirit have not ceased, but we need to have Scripture, not wishful thinking be our guide when seeking the truth of spiritual matters.
  9. That is very important. Knowing your body, and how it reacts is a great way to help your mental health professionals and/or medical practitioners to manage your care. You are really your own best advocate with those in those professions. Sometimes there is a spiritual component to mental illness. That can be the case if one is abused in any fashion. There can be physical abuse, or emotional abuse or even self abuse such as in having down suicide lane , and each requires different treatments. <SNIP>. I am not knocking you here, but I am wondering how you believe that any of the Gifts from Holy Spirit (and I am assuming that you are including tongues) can be a cure for depression because there is nothing in Scripture that supports that. I would argue that since the gifts are still available, and working that one who has depression has to be more cautious than others because glossalalia can be used to have demons curse God, and the fact that one's mind is weakened (as proved by the ways that SSNRIs work ) that there is a chemical imbalance in the brains of some (many?) having mental illness. Indeed, you are blessed, but be cautious in how and what you share.
  10. As the philosopher Yogi Berra once sagely stated, "That is déjà vu all over again.
  11. Some posters like to use irrational logical fallacies, such as ignoring plainly simple definitions by world-class dictionaries to hide the fact that they are unable to prove their thesis in the light of the FACTS.
  12. You REALLY need to get the definition of something before you attempt to tell anyone that what you made in highlights constitutes a pattern. National Pie day is March 14. We all celebrate with a slice of a pie (ice cream is extra)
  13. You need to consult with a good dictionary before attempting to tell anyone that what you cited constitutes anything similar to the definition of a pattern: any regularly repeated arrangement, especially a design made from repeated lines, shapes, or colors on a surface: Look, the frost has made a beautiful pattern on the window. The curtains had a floral pattern. a particular way in which something is done, is organized, or happens: The pattern of family life has been changing over recent years. A pattern is beginning to emerge from our analysis of the accident data. In this type of mental illness, the usual pattern is bouts of depression alternating with elation. Many behavior(al) patterns have been identified in the chimp colony. from https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/pattern Read this one: 1: a form or model proposed for imitation : EXEMPLAR 2: something designed or used as a model for making thingsa dressmaker's pattern 3: an artistic, musical, literary, or mechanical design or formthe geometrical pattern of the carpetthe strict pattern of rhythm and rhyme for a sonnet— Gigi Marino 4: a natural or chance configurationfrost patternsthe pattern of events 5dated : a length of fabric sufficient for an article (as of clothing) 6a: the distribution of shrapnel, bombs on a target, or shot from a shotgun b: the grouping made on a target by bullets 7: a reliable sample of traits, acts, tendencies, or other observable characteristics of a person, group, or institutiona behavior pattern spending patterns the prevailing pattern of speech 8a: the flight path prescribed for an airplane that is coming in for a landing b: a prescribed route to be followed by a pass receiver in football 9: TEST PATTERN 10: a discernible coherent system based on the intended interrelationship of component partsforeign policy patterns 11: frequent or widespread incidencea pattern of dissenta pattern of violence from https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pattern IOW there is an easily discerned repetition of numbers or shape such as in the herringbone design above. What you have done is prove my point, and demonstrated a confrontational bias which redefines randomized repetitions as a pattern. That as far from a pattern as you can get. Honestly, I thought that your variously color coded drawing would prevent you from making the silly claim that you were actually demonstrating a pattern Here are several examples of "fictional Pi" which all conform to the definition of "pattern": 3.1415926535 1415926535 1415926535 3.14159265 5356291514 1415926535 5356291514 3.1415926535 11415926535 21415926535 3415926535 41415926535 51415926535 (I just made an 11 number sequence, and added 1,2,3,4,5 as the first number in the pattern Numbers like 111 and 99999 and 6606 are RANDOM meaning "irregular" but in the "fictional PI" the first 10 places repeat themselves, and in the second example, the first 10 places repeat themselves in a REVERSE arrangement followed by a repetition of the first 10 places, followed by another REVERSE arrangement. As a favor to you, be aware that on other forums not knowing the definition of a term, and creating your own definition is an open invitation for ridicule. I am NOT doing that here, but in the case such as you submitted as a definition for a simple word like "pattern" may be used to make you look foolish, or other things.
  14. If you guys are looking for patterns, then why in the very important π Pi is an irrational number, which means that it is a real number that cannot be expressed by a simple fraction? Why are there no patterns after the decimal point? It should be a simple task, divide the circumference of a circle by its diameter C/d Doesn't that put a hole in the hull of your little row boat? First 1000 decimal places 3.1415926535 8979323846 2643383279 5028841971 6939937510 5820974944 5923078164 0628620899 8628034825 3421170679 8214808651 3282306647 0938446095 5058223172 5359408128 4811174502 8410270193 8521105559 6446229489 5493038196 4428810975 6659334461 2847564823 3786783165 2712019091 4564856692 3460348610 4543266482 1339360726 0249141273 7245870066 0631558817 4881520920 9628292540 9171536436 7892590360 0113305305 4882046652 1384146951 9415116094 3305727036 5759591953 0921861173 8193261179 3105118548 0744623799 6274956735 1885752724 8912279381 8301194912 9833673362 4406566430 8602139494 6395224737 1907021798 6094370277 0539217176 2931767523 8467481846 7669405132 0005681271 4526356082 7785771342 7577896091 7363717872 1468440901 2249534301 4654958537 1050792279 6892589235 4201995611 2129021960 8640344181 5981362977 4771309960 5187072113 4999999837 2978049951 0597317328 1609631859 5024459455 3469083026 4252230825 3344685035 2619311881 7101000313 7838752886 5875332083 8142061717 7669147303 5982534904 2875546873 1159562863 8823537875 9375195778 1857780532 1712268066 1300192787 6611195909 2164201989
