OK, then this means that one can be a “Christian” and ignore God’s Word, right? On that note... are Mormons welcome? Jehovah's witnesses, those that follow the cosmic “christ”? New agers? Muzlims? Hundues? Where does it end? Is this an ecumenical forum where all religions are welcome like some of the other boards? Or, is this a Christian form meaning for those that follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Apostles? It sounds like cover is being given for catholic doctrine which it is! The catholics don’t following the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Apostles. It’s simply not in God’s Word. I didn’t see that in the board rules that catholic teachings are off the table and nobody is allowed to compare catholic teachings to God’s Word. Is that in the rules? I’ve seen other posters talk about catholic teachings being false...

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. God’s Word teaches Christians to correct false doctrine.... so we’re not supposed to mention “catholic” as to protect their doctrine which is very obviously not biblical and is not found in the scriptures? Is this discussion forum a catholic forum? Just curious how this works as not calling out their false doctrine is to affirm it as being the truth and as being valid!

Exactly! That would be an extreme situation and as such it would not be a sin before to use deadly force in self defense. Yep, if all they are doing is slapping you... I could let that go. Now, if they want to escalate from there and start beating me, I'd have to escalate my efforts to put a stop to that. And, I'd rather not test the things about "most people who are shot don't die" Simply make the decision before hand... if it's a good shoot, then take it. If you haven't made up your mind, then when the time comes you'll probably hesitate would could be a lethal mistake. It's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6 as they say. And, in some states now, if you have legitimate fear for your life, you will not be charged and you cannot be sued in civil court for defending yourself with deadly force. It's not a nice subject, but in today's world its a every real possibility to have to shoot someone considering the lawless times in which we live. I like to pray and ask the Lord to lead me and guide me and alert me as to whether I should not go someplace... or maybe pick a different time as to steer clear of potential trouble. The best defense is the leading of the Lord as He will deliver us from the traps (snares) of the devil and He promised in Psalms 91... IF we believe His Word!

So, you believe the Holy Spirit is going to FORCE people to repent of their sin and come back to the Lord? If the Lord had not sovereignly decided to create man in His Image... which is how mankind has free will.... then He would simply FORCE everyone to get born again. What your baptist friend is teaching is false doctrine that comes from calvinism and is not biblical. If someone’s heart was right before the Lord... they would be living for Him and not out living in sin. Jesus said we would know them by their fruit and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit.... so a person living in sin is producing bad fruit because they are a bad tree... according to Jesus. Sorry.... you misquoted Romans 1 and you aren’t even reading down further where we are told that is we live after the flesh we shall die... which is separation from God! That's what the devil told Adam and Eve that is they sinned, the would not die.... so, did Jesus come to make the lies of the devil true? No, Jesus did not.... since the wages of sin is separation from God (you could just repent and quit doing the sin, right?) Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (this second part is in the original greek but modern translations take it out as to be sin friendly ya know!) No condemnation is ONLY applicable to those that walk after the Spirit.... read down further: Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. So your take on Galatians 5:1 gives Christians the right, a free pass to go back to their sinful lifestyle and get in bondage to sin again? That’s not only Weird, but it’s false doctrine as well. John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? And yes, Jesus will not turn away from us.... but since He sovereignly decided to give man free will, if man decides to turn away from the Lord, the Lord allows man to walk away... and if man stays away man will go to hell. It's always odd to me when people argue for being able to be in a sinful lifestyle and they claim you can be in right standing before the Lord while doing sin! Sorry, but I've been around the block so to speak and I'm not buying it, but you can... you do you as they say! There’s all kinds of warnings about this through out God’s Word... but hey, if you want to argue in favor of being able to go do sin you can if you’d like... but the end of that is not what you have been taught.

Well, can't speak for everyone else.... God told me in my Bible that I was created in His Image and God’s Word says that God IS a Spirit.... so I’m also a spirit. My spirit is inside my soul and is what causes my soul to be eternal... and I posses a body. God’s Word tells us to walk after the Spirit, not the body so obviously the Spirit is before the body and thru the power of the Holy Ghost dwelling in our reborn Spirit we are to keep our body under subjection (self control which is a fruit of the Spirit).... so it’s obvious that there is a “pecking order” Those that put the body or mind first may not be born again and if they are they are likely still babes in Christ and don’t understand what it means to be a new creature in Christ Jesus.

Speaking truth from God's Word... would not be speaking foolishness at all.. Going by how Jesus and the Apostles spoke very rudely to the religious people following false doctrine.... apparently being rude has it's place. Obviously, the Holy Spirit was leading them to do that. Otherwise, this would mean Jesus and the Apostles engaged in sinful activity! In other words, we are going to have to confront people in their sin and tell them straight up they they are in sin! Now, if you'd like to do that while smiling and speaking in a very soft tone of voice where they can barely hear you while holding their hand.... you could go that route if you think that will work for you. You do you as they say!

None the less, the warnings and instructions Jesus gave to the 7 churches in Revelation.... would have disqualified the catholics from being considered righteous by the Lord. Such as leaving your first love.... Jesus comes before all, so this disqualifies catholics from being in right standing before the Lord. The doctrines they espouse certainly do not put Jesus first and foremost in importance.... They have Jesus behind mary and the pope, and their local parrish priest.

The question becomes... would the love of God leave them in their sin and not care if they perish and go to hell? OR, would the Love of God confront false doctrine like Jesus and His Apostles did and tell them straight up this is false teaching not accepted by the Lord and you must repent and forsake these false teachings and get right with the Lord in order to truly be saved? Ezekiel 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

And, if what we get in any of these ways doesn't agree with what He says in His Word.... it is to be discarded as being not from the Lord.

He's no respector of persons.... so since he told them to buy a weapon then we can as well. It'ss not a commandment, but a permission. And, you know He actually used a whip and hit people with it when He was running the money changers out of the temple... so we know He's not opposed to using weapons for self defense.

God's Word is very clear about His instructions. The catholics don't go by the Lord's instructions so it's very obvious they are in opposition to the Lord and are not actually Christians. I have family members who have converted to catholic (we were not raised religious) and they think mankind should put the traditions and teachings of the cathoics BEFORE what God says in His Word. It mazes me how anybody could think catholics are Christians!

Yep, and Christians should not get overly political.... some have forgotten that we are not instructed to save or change the world. We are called to get folks born again to come out of the world.

I know I've heard quite a few Christians claim we should not engage in self defense which I assume for them they would allow a criminal to have their way once they break in. But, try as they may, they cannot explain the Word of Jesus away! Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. The Lord is instructing them to buy a weapon and this shows that He is not opposed to having weapons for self defense. Of course this does not mean weapons are our go to thing... it should be a very last resort in extreme circumstances. Nobody should be happy or joyful over the prospects of having to kill someone in self defense. But, if one is in grave danger of lose of life, limb, or property... it's not a in to shoot. Yes, we should turn the other cheek if all they are doing is slapping you... but the Lord never instructs us to let people murder us either! Just my 2 cents from down south... where most everyone is packing!

I think there are much more qualified people for POTUS than Trump... DeSantis for one is a far better choice. He doesn't come with all the baggage that Trump does, and he not headed to prison either so he could actually serve as POTUS! LoL!

It's hard to see how Christians can support Trump due to his very public support of the LGBBQ peoples (sexual perversion) He's even hosted the Log Cabin Republickens (LGBBQ group that claims to be conservative) annual meeting at his resort in Florida. In his speech to them, he said nobody has done more then he has to support the LGBBQ community! We've seen and heard evidence of Trump being a sexual pervert himself, so apparently these folks support one another in each other's perversion and the worst part is the brainwashing of little children to become perverts! It's hard for a Christian to support someone that embraces perversion like this!

And some are adverse to catholics for teaching another gospel and a different jesus! They certainly do embrace extra biblical teachings so for one to be a good catholic, they'll need to throw their Bible in the teach and just take the catholic church's word on what God is saying.

As opposed to what the catholics believe that it's the actual flesh of Jesus and it's His actual blood after their priest guy waves his hand over the elements of communion and does his majic trick.
