I have heard that interpretation, but I think messenger of Satan sounds more specific than his eye malady. There is a movie that depicts The Thorn well, “Paul Apostle of Christ,” starring Peter Faulkner and Jim Caveziel. Paul keeps seeing the Christian’s he put to death when he was Saul and is tormented by the visions till the end when he is greeted in heaven by them and Jesus.

Reconciling 6 Days with 13.7 Billion Years
Solus Christus replied to SavedOnebyGrace's topic in Science and Faith
I am in camp it’s seven days literally myself because I believe God Almighty is powerful enough to accomplish all that in seven days. -
Actually there was The Holy Leagues who fought at The Battle of Lepanto (1571 A.D.) and won against The Ottomans, Martin Luther praised the outcome of the battle. The Knights of St. John, originally the Knights Hospitallers who were rivals of the Templars and a surviving crusading order defeated The Ottoman Turk Muslims at Malta and Rhodes on in 1565. There was plans for more crusades then, so @JimmyBpoint stands in that the Protestants did not join in the crusade like Leagues. In fact, The Reformation I argue had a hand in the decline of crusading, as people become more literate and read the Bible and adopted reformed theology, the errors of Papal Bulls (Luther having burned one) and crusading to save your soul in pennitential warfare like Muslim Jihad Akbar become apparent to people. One could argue the nailing the 95 Thesis on Castle Church Door in Wittenberg was the death nail to Cluny and Pope Gregory’s faulty crucinatius plans to save warriors.

I find the five offices, really gifts illustrative that The Lord calls people to certain aspects of ministry: “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:10-13). Does seem to support types of ecclesiastical leadership. I need to study this verse.

I have read editor of The KJV was Sir Francis Bacon, was a Free Mason, which is a secret society that makes vows to other gods like Osiris and the spirit of light: which masons at 43rd degeee discover is Satan, “And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14) Sir Francis Bacon KJV and the masons & Rosicrucians: “The 1611 King James Bible is ornamented with Bacon’s symbols and in my own special copy of the record edition, also dated 1611, these symbols are Rosicrucianly marked to call the attention of the initiated to them and to tell them that the 1611 Bible is without possibility of doubt, one of Bacon’s books…..When Bacon was born, English as a literary language did not exist, but once he died he had succeeded in making the English language the noblest vehicle of thought ever possessed by mankind. This he accomplished merely by his Bible and his Shakespeare.” –Edwin D. Lawrence, author of Bacon is Shakespeare and The Shakespeare Myth from a lecture October 9, 1912 “…The Bible which all of us read and admire from a literary point of view because of it’s peculiar and beautiful English was written in that form by Bacon who invented and perfected that style of English expression. The first editions of this Bible were printed under the same guidance and in the same manner as were the Shakespeare plays, and the ornaments for the various pages were drawn in pen and ink and on wood by artists engaged by Bacon who worked under his supervision. Everyone of the ornaments concealed some Rosicrucian emblem and occasionally a Masonic emblem or some initials that would reveal Bacon’s name or the name of the Rosicrucians. Such ornaments were put not only in the Christian Bible that Bacon had rewritten but in the Shakespeare plays, and in some of Bacon’s own books, and a few other books that were typically Rosicrucinan in spirit.”– Dr. H Spencer Lewis Imperator of the Rosicrucian Order during the 1920-30’s, from the Rosicrucian Digest, April 1930 “The first edition of the King James Bible, which was edited by Francis Bacon and prepared under Masonic supervision, bears more Mason’s marks than the Cathedral of Strasburg.”-Manly P. Hall, from a lecture Rosicrucian and Masonic Origins 1929 “Bacon edited the Authorised Version of the Bible printed in 1611. Dr. Lancelot Andrewes, Bishop of Winchester, one of the chief translators, was Bacon’s close friend. The MSS are missing. That Bacon revised the manuscripts before publication is certain. Neither Bilston nor Miles, to whom the MSS were entrusted for final revision, could have given the world such a literary masterpiece. We have their writings. They are mediocre, barren of style, lacking the creative touch.” -Alfred Dodd, Francis Bacon’s Life-Story 1986 Bacon did meet with Masons & Rosicrucians: “On 22 January 1621, in honour of Sir Francis Bacon's sixtieth birthday, a select group of men assembled in the large banquet hall in York House without fanfare for what has been described as a Masonic banquet.[6] This banquet was to pay tribute to Sir Francis Bacon. Only those of the Rosicrosse (Rosicrucians) and the Masons who were already aware of Bacon's leadership role were invited.” -Alfred Dodd, Francis Bacon's Personal Life Story', Volume 2 - The Age of James, England: Rider & Co., 1949, 1986. pages 157 - 158, 425, 502 - 503, 518 - 532, provided by Wikipedia

A major difference is the following verse: KJV: “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one,” (1 John 5:7-8). NASB: “For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement,” (1 John 5:7-8). It is believed the additions to KIV text here is left overs from Latin, “The problem is that there is no Greek manuscript evidence for this longer reading prior to around the 16th century. It seems to be a carryover from the Latin, where it was perhaps added as an interpolation. At any rate, whatever the origin of the reading, it is not by any stretch of the imagination a part of the Majority Text. This is a good example of a stark and significant difference between the TR and M-text.”(https://carm.org/king-james-onlyism/differences-between-the-majority-text-and-the-textus-receptus/) That said, I must admit I like The Trinity there in the text of KJV.

So bringing up the dark history of Rome Catholic Church is bashing? The Fourth Crusade Spanish Inquisition St Bartholomew Day Massacre Thirty Years War Antipope Scandal Conquests by Cortez Invasion of England By Catholic Spain & It’s Aramada Native Americans Used For Labor Sex Scandals (Current 2020-2023) I brought up the realities of their sins that have left a black mark on history. You tried to bring up Protestant ones, but have little evidence and the Protestants have atoned for slavery by abolishing it in UK and USA. Right now the Romans are having World Youth Day because the numbers of Rome are dwindling, and for good reason, they have not addressed the sex scandals that are rampant satisfactorily. As one caller on The Busted Halo, Catholic Channel who had been molested said, “the whole church needs to be torn down and start over,” Pope Francis even echoed this that a new beginning may be necessary, check out “In The Closet of The Vatican” where the author Frédéric Martel interviewed bishops, priests and etc and they confessed to abusing altar boys, and priests are committing homosexual acts with each other even though they took vows of celibacy. Now I admit The Southern Baptists were guilty of the same crimes against children and deserve the same wrath as the Roman leadership from God: “Jesus said, But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6)

I was establishing that Scripture supports forgiveness for sins after salvation, lest the Romanite error of losing grace. By the way asking people for detailed if they sinned after salvation is rather intrusive to ask, people do not tend to want to share their faults with strangers. We are suppose to “confess our sins to one another,” that is in context of people you trust. Your words confirm I have no intent of sharing my faults among strangers.

We all go through a style Tribulation before Jesus sends angels to gather us at His Coming: “Matthew 24:29-31 The Coming of the Son of Man [29] “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. [30] Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. [31] And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

Acts 19 shows multiple baptisms. “Acts 19:1-7 Paul in Ephesus [1] And it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the inland country and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples. [2] And he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” [3] And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.” [4] And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” [5] On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. [6] And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. [7] There were about twelve men in all.” The Same Paul who wrote Ephesians is here mentioning different baptisms.

“But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.“ (1 John 2:1-2)

Paul’s thorn being a messenger of Satan was a thorn in the teaching of exorcists I knew who say “you must be delivered from all demonic influences.” I’d bring up Paul’s Thorn. God decided that it was better Paul have buffeter than he become conceited, “So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.” (2 Corinthians 12:7). For God twists and hates the proud, “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6)

Is Horror Bad for Christians?
Solus Christus replied to Solus Christus's topic in General Discussion
I have always felt something Satanic about the destruction of man for entertainment, it’s distorting, mutilating, and crushing the Image of God (Genesis 1:27-28), which I imagine delights the evil one since he hates God. There is also a tinge of nihilism to make horror work (in certain films anyway) since for you to be terrified by what is happening to people you aren’t focused on The LORD coming to the rescue or to intervene. -
Its sad how the events that lead to our Lord’s Return has had capacity to divide people and make them severe ties over timelines & interpretations.

Slavery is blight (sin) on many religions, not just Catholicism and Protestantism. I recall a famous slave situation in Ancient Egypt.. there even was an Exodus.. Or Pagan Rome which traded in human souls more than horses. And lest we forget William Wilberforce a devout Protestant brought about the abolition of slavery in England, and Christian Republicans in Congress brought about the end of slavery in America, as well as a Protestant Abraham Lincoln who wanted slavery to end and started a war over it.

“We Should Expect Frustration Reading The Bible”

If frustration is a problematic world, perhaps substitute befuddled, exasperated, or left in a state of perplexity of how to do application of said verse. -
Is Horror Bad for Christians?

Interesting, that “spirit of fear,” verse and “why would you play with it” is profound. I have much to ruminate on. -
Is Horror Bad for Christians?

Well I meant unseen forces that supernatural do not appeal to me, save Bird Box (The Original), the sequel Bird Box Barcelona was horrid, it violated the lore and even used rapture Christianity in a negative light. I suppose I go by Shin Godzilla when I think of it as horror. And the Original Gojira was meant to be horror playing on atomic fears. -
Slavery was done under Catholicism too. Calvin burned a heretic? The Catholic Church burned so many more. Anti Semitism? Have you read of the Catholic massacres of Jews?
