Why radioactive decay dates beyond around 4300 years are invalid
SavedOnebyGrace replied to dad2's topic in Science and Faith
1. There's no denying there was an "Ice Age" around 10,000 - 13,000 years ago (Younger - Dryas). The Bible does not mention it when animals were flash frozen while eating. I give the example of the woolly mammoth as an example since it is so well documented. The meat was not particularly tasty. 2. Noah's Flood was not connected to any Ice Age. There appears to be at least two mass extinctions of mammals, one around the time after of Lucifer's Flood and one around the time of Noah's Flood. There's about 8000 - 9000 years between the events. There were other global floods but why they were necessary, the bible is silent on. If you wish to continue to spout your false beliefs of YEC, go ahead without my involvement. Out. -

There's ample scientific evidence to suggest Noah's Flood was real. There's also evidence to suggest that the major climate event, aka Younger-Dryas, around 10,000 - 13,000 years ago before the last ice age, may have caused global floods too. No one has ever satisfactorily explained how the Beresovka, Siberian mammoth and other animals found frozen in the subarctic could have been frozen with buttercups between its teeth and undigested in its stomach before being consumed by predators of the time. To date, no connection between mass extinctions of mammals and global floods has been established. My contention is that Lucifer's Flood occurred around this time. There is also no connection between magnetic pole shifts and mass extinctions. -

You're using a website that is based on a Ken Ham's interpretation of Genesis and working backwards to manipulate science for support. The battle of the websites is not science. The Beginning of the Universe -

Scientists also use ice cores to determine how the atmosphere has changed over time. How the Earth's magnetic field has changed. The shifting of continents, the rearranging lands and seas - Noah's Flood, Lucifer's Flood and the other global floods - can be seen in the ice cores AND dated. -

I have covered everything you have said here and don't want to repeat myself. Since you don't understand science and how it applies to God's Word this conversation is at an end. -

Genesis is NOT a science textbook. To try and make it one is recreating God to what you can understand and dismissing biblical text that don't fit your understanding. We know from the OT writings there were more than just Noah's Flood. Scientists that study flood geology have estimated Noah's Flood was around 6500 - 7000 years ago. The flood some of us refer to as Lucifer's Flood was about 12,500 -14,000 years ago. Now the Earth has gone through numerous global floods as the geological layers show. None of these resulted in mass extinctions. Magnetic pole shifts, geological movements, etc. seem to coincide with these continental shifts and major floods. A study of the continental shifts align with the biblical account of the floods I've mentioned. -
So I smoked 4 puffs from a cigarette when I was 11, 4 cigars when I was 21, and less than 2 cigarette packs over the last 50 years. What box do I check? But I'm currently being tested for lung cancer. Go figure!

I am sorry I've left this topic rust, but it seems like you've all done excellent without me. -

I like what you've done here. But how do you see God separates breathing creatures, human beings from animals? -

I was presenting background for questions that are rarely discussed. That's certainly worthy of serious discussion. I don't believe in soul sleep, but some Christians do. I'd like to understand how they justify their beliefs. -

Accepting all interpretations can lead one away from essential truths of the Christian faith. -
I read through the KJV when I first became a born-again Christian some forth plus years. I was helped by several commentaries while trying to make sense of the text. I quickly found the NASB and NIV better, more readable translations worthy of serious study. More modern translations like the CSB and ESV are also worthy of serious study.

(Psalms 122:1) A Song of Ascents. Of David. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD!” (Psalms 122:2) Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! (Psalms 122:3) Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together, (Psalms 122:4) to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. (Psalms 122:5) There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David. (Psalms 122:6) Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! (Psalms 122:7) Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” (Psalms 122:8) For my brothers and companions' sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” (Psalms 122:9) For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. The United Nations Human Rights Council on Monday held a moment of silence in memory of the "innocent lives" lost in the "occupied Palestinian territory and elsewhere," while failing to honor those who died in Israel from attacks by Hamas. Ambassador Zaman Mehdi, the deputy permanent representative of Pakistan to the U.N. in Geneva was seen in a post by the U.N. on X, formerly known as Twitter, speaking to members of the Human Rights Council just before a moment of silence. "On behalf of the IOC member states, we express our deep concerns over the loss of innocent lives in the occupied Palestinian territory and elsewhere," Mehdi said. "Regrettably, this huge loss of lives and unabated violence is a sad reminder of more than seven decades of illegal foreign occupation, aggression and disrespect for the international law, including UNESCO resolutions." DOZENS OF NY LAW ENFORCEMENT LEADERS STRANDED IN ISRAEL DURING COUNTERTERRORISM TRAINING He went on to say the 16 years of what he termed illegal blockage of Gaza continued to raise questions over the applicability of international law and fundamental freedoms of the innocent civilian population. As a result, efforts to normalize the area is "breeding violence," Mehdi said. "In this context, the so-called declaration of war and attacks on civilian population and their properties is deeply distressing," he said. "We remain concerned about the human cost of the escalating situation." (UN Human Rights Council X Post) A video of the moment of silence showed all members of the Human Rights Council standing, despite omitting the innocent lives of those lost in Israel. U.S. Permanent Representative to the Human Rights Council Michèle Taylor also requested a moment of silence on Monday, asking to commemorate the lives of people killed in the Hamas attack on Israel. Taylor said, with a "heavy heart," that the calamity on Oct. 7, 2023, and the days since resulted in the deaths of "hundreds and hundreds of innocent civilian lives lost," and the count continues to go up. "The United States unequivocally condemns these heinous acts of terrorism. We extend our deepest condolences to the families affected and express our solidarity with the people and government of Israel in these trying times," Taylor said before requesting a moment of silence from the council. "As we stand in silence, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to promoting peace, justice, and human rights across the globe, and let our silence resound as a united stand against terrorism and violence." Matter in Motion: Gravity Fluctuations
SavedOnebyGrace replied to SavedOnebyGrace's topic in Science and Faith
From the source quoted above: Even glaciers that melted long ago affect sea level today. For instance, a large mass of ice covered the Hudson Bay area during the last Ice Age, which ended around 15,000 years ago. Now, without the weight of glaciers, the land beneath that area is slowly rebounding at a rate of about 1 centimeter (0.3 inch) per year. Over time, this postglacial rebound affects regional coastlines, complicating tide gauge readings and making it harder to monitor changes in global sea level. GRACE data will allow scientists to measure the change that can be attributed to postglacial rebound, making it easier to determine how much other factors -- such as global warming -- contribute to rising sea levels. In my own words, the sea levels today are being affected by gravity changes that may have happened 15,000 years ago. Man-made global warming is a simplification of more complex scientific processes that are not fully understood.
