Ozzy needs Jesus. All the years of hard rock'in and unwittingly serving the wrong master have taken their toll on his spirit soul mind and body. It has profited him nothing to gain the world because like the proverb says, it has cost him his soul. He's tried to cram every sort of thing under the sun in that void that only Jesus can fill. I pray that one day before it's too late he will get a taste of the Lord. What an awesome testimony that could be.

I appreciate everything you guys have contributed, and i'm glad alot of you seem to like A.W. Tozer. I can get plenty more of Him. I think when you post a topic having to do with anything prophetic you feel that you'll probably have to spend a little time defending it. Prophecy is probably the most misunderstood gifting/office in christianity. It has certainly been one of the most abused. I could never bring myself to throw the baby out with the bathwater, I believe it is a valid office for this age and I know how at times God has operated in my own life. I believe there are some genuinely prophetic people here on this forum, I can see the heart of God in the things you say. That being said, thanks guys for peaceful dialog...I appreciate it. Thanks Jackie and Sue for the encourgment you give, probably without knowing it!

Thanks CFA(sue)..I like Tozer too. I thought that was a timely message even though it's an old one. Thats how 'prophetic insight' is I guess...for all the ages. Ps. Yod, I didn't mean to sound so snippy, I didn't realize that I came across that way until I re-read what I said to you. Forgive me. Maybe one day i'll feel like a good debate again, lately it just hasn't been in me.

Thanks OC. And thanks for being kind

"depends upon her moral and spiritual condition." If you had to stop there, you are straining at knats, Yod. I'm sure this forum probably wasn't the best place to post anthing prophetic...bad choice. I don't plan to spend any time defending the article, you either recieve it or you don't.

The Gift of Prophetic Insight A.W. Tozer Excerpted from Of God and Men A prophet is one who knows his times and what God is trying to say to the people of his times. What God says to His church at any given period depends altogether upon her moral and spiritual condition and upon the spiritual need of the hour. Religious leaders who continue mechanically to expound the Scriptures without regard to the current religious situation are no better than the scribes and lawyers of Jesus' day who faithfully parroted the Law without the remotest notion of what was going on around them spiritually. They fed the same diet to all and seemed wholly unaware that there was such a thing as meat in due season. The prophets never made that mistake nor wasted their efforts in that manner. They invariably spoke to the condition of the people of their times. Today we need prophetic preachers; not preachers of prophecy merely, but preachers with a gift of prophecy. The word of wisdom is missing. We need the gift of discernment again in our pulpits. It is not ability to predict that we need, but the anointed eye, the power of spiritual penetration and interpretation, the ability to appraise the religious scene as viewed from God's position, and to tell us what is actually going on. There has probably never been another time in the history of the world when so many people knew so much about religious happenings as they do today. The newspapers are eager to print religious news; the secular news magazines devote several pages of each issue to the doings of the church and the synagogue; a number of press associations gather church news and make it available to the religious journals at a small cost. Even the hiring of professional publicity men to plug one or another preacher or religious movement is no longer uncommon; the mails are stuffed with circulars and "releases," while radio and television join to tell the listening public what religious people are doing throughout the world. Greater publicity for religion may be well and I have no fault to find with it. Surely religion should be the most newsworthy thing on earth, and there may be some small encouragement in the thought that vast numbers of persons want to read about it. What disturbs me is that amidst all the religious hubbub hardly a voice is raised to tell us what God thinks about the whole thing. Where is the man who can see through the ticker tape and confetti to discover which way the parade is headed, why it started in the first place and, particularly, who is riding up front in the seat of honor? Not the fact that the churches are unusually active these days, not what religious people are doing, should engage our attention, but why these things are so. The big question is Why? And no one seems to have an answer for it. Not only is there no answer, but scarcely is there anyone to ask the question. It just never occurs to us that such a question remains to be asked. Christian people continue to gossip religious shoptalk with scarcely as much as a puzzled look. The soundness of current Christianity is assumed by the religious masses as was the soundness of Judaism when Christ appeared. People know they are seeing certain activity, but just what it means they do not know, nor have they the faintest idea of where God is or what relation He has toward the whole thing. What is needed desperately today is prophetic insight. Scholars can interpret the past; it takes prophets to interpret the present. Learning will enable a man to pass judgment on our yesterdays, but it requires a gift of clear seeing to pass sentence on our own day. One hundred years from now historians will know what was taking place religiously in this year of our Lord; but that will be too late for us. We should know right now. If Christianity is to receive a rejuvenation it must be by other means than any now being used. If the church in the second half of this century is to recover from the injuries she suffered in the first half, there must appear a new type of preacher. The proper, ruler-of-the-synagogue type will never do. Neither will the priestly type of man who carries out his duties, takes his pay and asks no questions, nor the smooth-talking pastoral type who knows how to make the Christian religion acceptable to everyone. All these have been tried and found wanting. Another kind of religious leader must arise among us. He must be of the old prophet type, a man who has seen visions of God and has heard a voice from the Throne. When he comes (and I pray God there will be not one but many) he will stand in flat contradiction to everything our smirking, smooth civilization holds dear. He will contradict, denounce and protest in the name of God and will earn the hatred and opposition of a large segment of Christendom. Such a man is likely to be lean, rugged, blunt-spoken and a little bit angry with the world. He will love Christ and the souls of men to the point of willingness to die for the glory of the one and the salvation of the other. But he will fear nothing that breathes with mortal breath. We need to have the gifts of the Spirit restored again to the church, and it is my belief that the one gift we need most now is the gift of prophecy. Jamie adds...IE the gift of (authentic) prophecy.

I agree Marnie. I just saw an old tree that fell over in a storm, it happens. Move on. I"m more concerned about the traitor known as Cindy Sheehan calling our troops, rapeist's, murders and calling the president names I won't even repete. Now we have people out there changing the words to God Bless America, making us the bad guys. Let's stay focused on what is really important. We have people trying to kill us and men and women fighting to keep us safe. That is what is really important don't you think? Thanks again Marnie. I think people are different and God gives each of us diverse gifts. What is important to some isn't necessarily going to be as important to others. We have different passions. We shouldn't try to censor those we don't understand or agree with, so long as they are behaving decently. We all have the right to avoid topics that bother us.

The reality of disaster is upon us, it's time to humble ourselves and interceed for this nation. These people aren't playing and they have full intentions of trying again. If not for the mercy of God, they will eventually succeed. Was God showing us how easy it would be? We need to seek God in humility and ferverent intercession. -
My husbands ex wife was the biggest challenge that I had to face concerning my natural children. She would make my step kids take all of their clothes off when they would get home so that she could see if my kids had left any kind of mark on them. It was constant acusation and jealousy, she still tries to control my household. Thankfully, my step kids knew that she was looking to make trouble and they never had anything bad to say about being at dad's house. I haven't had to go through what you and your husband are going through, my advice would be to pray and believe. Faith will move the hand of God faster than anything that I know of. The Lord bless you guys.

Hi 2BNHisGlory, When we were first married we were very blessed to be in a church body that gave us such a firm foundation in the word and in Christ. They did a study program for a few weeks, one for the men and one for the woman. Our study books were different. His was geared toward what the woman needs from the man, and mine was geared toward what the man needs from the woman. I forgot the name of those books!! We would here fantastic lessons that seemed to address exactly what we needed to hear. Looking back, it was the grace love and mercy of God operating in our lives. The kids are a little older and we have outgrown a lot of our strife, insecurities, and jealousy. We have a son together, I have a son from a priveous marriage, and he has a son and daughter from a privieous marriage. My husbands youngest child was only three months old when he and his ex divorced, we met 3 years later. Can you imagine all that?? I recommend just a general book on marriage called "the five love languages" by: Gary Chapman. It doesn't address the step family issues but it will help you understand and relate to your husband much better. And vise versa if you can get him to read it too. Go to a christian book store and look until you find something that you can relate to, they have a lot of great selections on marriage. You might even check the internet for an even broader selection, maybe you can find a good one addressing step family issues specifically. May the Lord bless your efforts and your marriage, because he can do it if you yeild your life over to Him.

[2 Timothy 3:1-5] But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God

Thanks for clearing that up KayD. I thought I had found a loophole as an excuse for my score.

That might have played into it, i'm definitely not pre-trib!

I'm a stepmom, and it is a very tough role. My advice would be to get family counseling from a godly perspective. I didn't get formal counseling but Jesus played the key role in holding my marriage together, plus a lot of books and teachings on the subject of marriage. Make sure you get as much counsel as you can from whatever avenues are available to you, but always make sure it's centered in Christ. Thats so important.

8- "Not so bad, but you need to venture to other prophetic books besides Revelation"
-
Thats pretty similar to the way we do it, except I have an aunt who is a widow who struggles financially that we try to help out as much as possible. It's so much more of a blessing to put the money directly into someones hand yourself.

A person must repent of their sins and be born again to inherit the Kingdom. "Getting saved" is about a changed life through repentance...Making a u turn. One dosn't inherit the kingdom of God in a backslidden condition. That is false doctrine and deception. It could cause a new believer to stumble because it tells them..."make a confession, but if you go and live in sin again don't worry about it you'll still be saved". Thats bogus. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." -2nd Corinthians 5:17 Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit." Matthew 5:20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Thats wisom, felix! Thanks

I doubt anyone who was skeptical could ever admit that Pat just might be right ....But I say he could very possibly be right! The earth is doing strange things in these last days, as the word of God said it would.
-
Respectfully, I disagree with you on this. It may be your experience that people left church because of other Christians, but have you seen any of us here pointing fingers at the people? I think the Lordship leaderships(nicolaitans) use the old "can't get along with others", and the old and tired "can't come under submission" lines as a form of keeping their members under (control) in a lot of the churches out there. Also a common one is "you don't want to become a church hopper". All these phrases can possibly be a form of manipulation to keep people under authoritarian control.
-
We also have to be careful because the pharisees thought that they could never persecute the prophets....Yet Jesus had a few words begging to differ. They lived by the letter, yet when God moved they never recognized it.
