Yeah I struggled with that scripture as well (Mat 2:23). I spent much time trying to figure out where in the OT scriptures this was stated that he would be called a Nazarene and searched both the Masoretic and Septuagint text. The closest I found was Is 9:1-9 which referenced Messiah would come from a Galilean city near the sea of Galilee. He grew up living in Nazareth after they returned from Egypt. Nazareth was considered a gentile (Samaritan) village and why many of the Jews rejected him. Jews would have nothing to do with Samaritans and rejected the idea that Messiah could come from such a place. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali-- to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah: "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles-- the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." - Mat 4:13-16 But there will be no [more] gloom for her who was in anguish. In earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He will make [it] glorious, by the way of the sea, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them. You will multiply the nation, You will increase their joy; They will rejoice in Your presence As with the joy of harvest, As [people] rejoice when they divide the spoils. For You will break the yoke of their burden and the staff on their shoulders, The rod of their oppressor, as at the battle of Midian. For every boot of the marching warrior in the roar [of battle,] And cloak rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire. For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of [His] government or of peace On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of armies will accomplish this. - Isa 9:1-7 Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good be from Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see." - Jhn 1:46 In fact early Jewish believers were labeled the "Nazarene sect" in a derogatory way. "We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene sect - Act 24:5 I am not a huge fan of the Masoretic text I found many places where OT scriptures quoted in the NT do not line up with OT Masoretic text but in most cases line up directly with the Septuagint.

My Musical Interpretation of Revelation 5:9-10 - The New Song
Jedi4Yahweh replied to anastasis888's topic in Christian Music
I like this Revelation Song: -
Well heavenly Jerusalem/Mount Zion is coming to this earth, God will dwell as King on this earth. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God. ... And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, ... And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is] the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither [whatsoever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. - Rev 21:2-3, 10, 22-27 KJV And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. - Isa 2:2-4 KJV But in the last days it shall come to pass, [that] the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. - Mic 4:1-3 KJV Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury. Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age. And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness. - Zec 8:2-8 KJV And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. - Dan 2:44 KJV

No, his Kingdom was not established here on earth yet, but will at his 2nd coming. You have a very gnostic view of scriptures, God is literally going to rule the nations as King of Kings here on earth. And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. - Isa 2:2-4 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, [one] like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed. ... But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. ... And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom [is] an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. - Dan 7:13-14, 18, 27 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which [is] before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, [and there shall be] a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee [to] the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, [and] all the saints with thee. And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the light shall not be clear, [nor] dark: But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, [that] at evening time it shall be light. And it shall be in that day, [that] living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. - Zec 14:1-9 And it shall come to pass, [that] every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, [that] whoso will not come up of [all] the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. - Zec 14:16-17 KJV

I don't understand how you can overlook prophetic scriptures spoken by all the prophets about the regathering and restoration of Israel in that last days. Even the disciples of Y'shua asked him before he ascended to heaven: Will you now restore the Kingdom of Israel??? Y'shua did not correct them but told them that date is not for you to know only the Father. This is to say there is a future date when Israel will be restored. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. - Act 1:6-7 KJV -------------- Here are just few prophetic scriptures about the regathing/restoration of Israel that found all over the book of the prophets. But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me." "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. ... "Surely your waste and your desolate places and your devastated land-- surely now you will be too narrow for your inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up will be far away. ... Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and raise my signal to the peoples; and they shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders. - Isa 49:14-16, 19, 22 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence. And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. - Eze 11:17-20 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, [even] I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep [that are] scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. ... I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up [that which was] broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment. - Eze 34:11-13, 16

Dispensationalism and Zionism should be separate thread so I will keep this short. I am not a dispensationalist, I don't believe God has two separate bodies of people. We are all called to the same Gospel both Jew and Gentile. If you are in Messiah we are all of the same family. God doesn't play favorites, but shows mercy to all that fear him and obey him. Jewish people don't get free pass because they are born Jewish neither do Gentiles. We are all called to repentance, obedience, and faith in his Son. With that said, I also support Zionism. I do believe part of God's end time plan is to restore Israel to its rightful standing and return them to the Land promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. All the prophets speak of this regathering of Israel. So, I do support the right for Israel to return to the land (some never left). I do recognize that unbelieving Jews are in a fallen state and are not saved are outside the covenant of God. Scriptures says they are enemies of the Gospel but for the sake of the theirs fathers (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) they are beloved of God.

Sounds like you hold to the full Preterist view that believed all prophecy has already been fulfilled by 70 AD. You believe there is no literal second coming of Messiah, no literal resurrection for the dead (physical), and that we are currently living in the "millennium" of Messiah in spiritual sense. This is a gnostic view of scriptures which has been rejected by some of the same church fathers you quoted in your OP. You seem to be doing the same thing that many premillenist do in that they try to lump temple desolation with the 2nd coming. You are doing the same thing but at 70AD.

Not sure if this is directed at me, but Dan 9.24 specifically is referring to Israel more specifically Judean's. Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to: Finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. God ordered the destruction of the first temple because of Israel's paganism and idolatry worship and ordered them to go into captivity for 70 years. The 490 years was God giving Israel a second chance to get their act together and bring an end to their past transgressions, to welcome in everlasting righteousness and to anoint the most holy King and Messiah. This did not happen for Israel, but quite the opposite. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me. And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate. For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, 'Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD!'" - Mat 23:37-39 One could argue that this did not come true for Israel but came true for others (Gentiles), but I would strongly argue none of these will be completely fulfilled until the 2nd Coming of Messiah when he will rule and reign as King of Kings here on earth out of Zion (Jerusalem). The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. - Mat 13:41
-
And what does any this have to do with topic of the OP???

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. - Dan 9:24 None of Dan 9:24 was not fulfilled due to Judea's rejection and execution of the Messiah. The did not stop sinning, they did not make reconciliation for their iniquity, they did not accept the everlasting righteous one, they did not anoint the most Holy one but rather killed him. The whole point of the 490 years was a time set for Jews to get their act together and repent from their past transgression and to usher in their Messiah as everlasting King, but this did not happen and this was the reason for Jerusalem and the Temple's desolation and destruction. This was the admonition that caused desolation. "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! See, your house is left to you desolate. - Mat 23:37-38
-
Correct and Yeshua also stated the following just before he spoke about Jerusalem's destruction and desolation followed in Mat 24. Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! See, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'" - Mat 23:36-39 The abomination that caused desolation was Judea's rejection and crucifixion of Messiah as stated above. The covenant that was made was speaking of the New Covenant. Jesus ministry lasted 3 1/2 years and was cut off in the middle of last week.

Question: Was the Temple and Jerusalem destroyed/desolated in 70 AD? The answer is obviously clear. Daniels prophecy of 70 weeks (490 years) was regarding the building of the second temple and the restoration of Jerusalem until its destruction and desolation. This happened in 70 AD approximately 490 years from the decree to rebuild the Temple and Jerusalem, depending what calculations you use. Jesus told his disciples not one stone will be left upon another regarding the temple. This all came true in when Titus (the Syrian) destroyed the Temple and Jerusalem and made it desolate. It is absurd to say the Daniel's prophecy was not actually 490 years but included a huge time gap that exceeds over 2022+ years. Also, no mention in scriptures of a 3rd earthly temple being rebuilt. God said that 490 years had been determined upon your people (Jews), not 483yrs + [2022 plus yrs] + 7 years. People that use this gap theory are literally stretching the truth.
-
I agree it has already been fulfilled just as Daniel and Jesus prophesied. Too many people want to lump the destruction/desolation of the temple and the second coming together as the same event, but not so. The destruction/desolation of the temple and Jerusalem has already been fulfilled, the second coming is a separate event yet to come.

Is it possible that homosexuality is a birth defect?
Jedi4Yahweh replied to Not of the World's topic in General Discussion
Yes, it was labeled as a mental illness for many years and called Gender Dysphoria but its been normalized as acceptable behavior today. The scriptures forbids men to dress and act like women and vise versa and just because it is acceptable by many today does not override God's word that forbids it. This is not even addressing homosexual acts committed by those with Gender Dysphoria engage in, which is also forbidden in scriptures. -
Call it what you want but the bible is clear that faith with out works is not real faith and faith without works can not save you. Messiah said we are to strive (work fervently) to enter his kingdom because many [majority] will seek to enter and will not be able. What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? ... Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. - Jas 2:14, 24 Then one said to Him, "Lord, are there few who are saved?" And He said to them, "Strive [work fervently] to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. "When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open for us,' and He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know you, where you are from,' "then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.' "But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.' - Luk 13:23-27 NKJV

No, I do not continue to live in sin anymore. This is not to say I have not sinned in the past and will not sin in the future, but if I do I confess and repent. The difference is that I do not make excuses for sin and continue to live in habitual sin, and think God is going to over look my unrepentant sin. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. - Heb 10:26-27 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. - 2Pe 3:9
-
Correct lawlessness refers to people who reject God's law. He was not talking about Roman Law or Culture law but the Law God.
-
Please define what Lawlessness is? "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' - Mat 7:21-23 "The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, - Mat 13:41
-
Read the next verse...John says the following: My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: - 1Jo 2:1 KJV Yes, we were all born in sin and by default we sin according to the old nature, but when we are born again we are set free from that old nature/power of sin and we no longer have to continue to sin any longer. Sin should be the exception not the norm for a born again believer. John says that we are not to continue in sin, but IF we do sin we have an advocate. In fact John says you can Identify those who know God from those who falsely say they know God, see below: And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. - 1Jo 2:1, 3-6 KJV John says those who say they know God but continue to disobey God's commandments are liars and the Truth does not live in them. Those who know God obey him, keep his commandments and walk just as Yeshua walked.

Is the U.S. the "Great Whore of Babylon"?
Jedi4Yahweh replied to Not of the World's topic in Bible Study
I believe Mystery Babylon spoken of in Rev 18 is NYC. Rev 18 says MB is a 'great' merchant CITY that has seaports and does business with the entire world and reigns over the kings of the earth. The word 'great city' refers to 'mega city' in greek. NYC is the world's largest mega city and is the wealthiest exporter and importer of goods of all cities in the world. NYC has been dubbed the "Captial of the World" due to trade alliances and diplomacy with the world. NYC also is the home of United Nations HQ which reigns over the kings of the earth. MB is said to be responsible for the blood of the prophets and saints, therefore people assume this is referring to Jews and therefore Jerusalem, but did you know the NYC has more Jews living there than any other city in the world. Jerusalem is not a merchant city much less a "mega" city and also has no seaports. Also says MB will be destroyed and will never shine a light in her again nor the voice of the bridegroom be ever heard in her again. No light nor bridegroom. If this is referring to Jerusalem being destroyed this poses a huge problem if Messiah is coming back to rule from Jerusalem when He is the Light of the Nations and He is also called the Bridegroom. MB is described as a proud Queen (Statue of Liberty) who sits upon the waters, who says I will never see sorrow, and represents many people and nationalities. NYC is the melting pot of the world, with the world's largest mix of nationalities and ethnicities. Jerusalem has been conquered many times and has seen many sorrows and does sit upon the waters and does not represent many nationalities. This MB was a mystery city, meaning a city that had not been revealed to John...Jerusalem or Rome was no mystery to John during his day. -
I thought you meant the Nephilim, survived the flood. No they all died in wars over period of 500 years according to the Book of Enoch and and Jasher. This was the judgement God placed on the Nephilim that they would kill each other off. We do see descendants of Nephilim bloodline post flood but there are many theories on this, which I will not go into. The angels that fell on Mt Herman are not roaming around on earth, but are chained in darkness until Judgement day. One of the books, I think Jasher says they are released after 70 generations, but if you do the calculations 70 generations comes out to 7000 years which is the end of age and the judgement.
