Most guitar shops have guitar techs some may have a luthier. A guitar tech does basic guitar adjustments such as neck adjustments, refret, saddle and neck adjustments, replace tuners, strings, pickups, etc. Where as a Luthier does major guitar body repairs, such as replacing a neck or resetting a neck, replacing damage wood, fixing cracks, etc... Luthier can build a guitar from the ground up. A luthier by nature is much more expensive to have your guitar worked on than a guitar tech. For example: I take my guitar to a guitar store to have my guitar adjusted and setup by a guitar tech. In the process they find a crack in my neck but a guitar tech will not touch a structural issue but will send it off to a Luthier to have the neck repaired and that is where it gets expensive.
-
In addition, I would avoid using an Luthier unless your guitar need major repairs.
-
A good guitar setup is not expensive compared to buying a new guitar. You can get a good setup for around 40-50 dollars and that usually includes new strings. It is a better option then telling a beginner you need to go buy an expensive guitar that can range from $800 to thousands of dollars, where in most cases beginner guitarist end up up ditching guitar playing in their first year. Plus, taking your guitar to a guitar tech can help advise him on any issues with the guitar and help him make decisions if his guitar is worth using or to upgrade.
-
Yes, having a good guitar does help, but if you are a beginner I would not rush out to buy an expensive guitar. I would start by taking your guitar to a guitar pro that can adjust and set up your guitar so that it is optimal for playing. If the guitar tech tells you he can not get your guitar within limits with out doing major work, then consider upgrading. Even expensive guitars have to be adjusted for time to time.

Yes, it takes practice. When you bar the open A you got to arch and angle your finger in away that it does not touch, mute or buzz the other strings, but with a little practice it becomes natural.
-
I often bar the open A major chord with one finger like one of the examples in your link.
-
I am not trying to be rude, but it sounds like your basing much of this on suspicions and not factual evidence. Just as others have said, you are not going to find a perfect church nor will you find a church where you agree with everything the pastor says or teaches. If there are major overly glaring doctrinal issues then maybe you should consider finding another church or maybe God wants you there for a reason. From personal experience, I have never found a church where I agree 100% on what they teach, but this should not stop me or you from fellowshipping with other believers even if we disagree with them on certain topics.
-
All these things you mentioned are all natural challenges when starting out. The more you practice the easier it will get. I recommend setting aside at least 30mins each day devoted to practice. Justinguitar is good source for beginners. If you are working on D and A chords I recommend finding songs that utilize those chords (Key of D). Here is a good song in the Key of D. Don't let the Asus4 scare you its an A chord with one less finger and explained at the bottom or you can just play a regular A major. Sanctuary [Chorus] D Asus4 Lord prepare me, to be a sanctuary G D Asus4 Pure and holy, tried and true D Asus4 With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living G D Asus4 Sanctuary, for You [Verse 1] D Asus4 It is You Lord, who gave the Savior G D Asus4 heart and soul Lord, to every man D Asus4 It is You Lord, who knows my weakness G D Asus4 you refine me, with thine own hand [Chrous] [Verse 2] D Asus4 Lead me o Lord, & through temptation G D Asus4 You refine me from within D Asus4 Fill our hearts with, Your holy spirit G D Asus4 Take all our sins away [Chorus] x2 Asus4 = x02200

"poor in spirit" > how does this work for relationships?
Jedi4Yahweh replied to com7fy8's topic in Bible Study
May I add, blessed does not mean Happy. Although being blessed in can lead to happiness. Being blessed of God means God is working on your behalf to protect, save, deliver, and prosper you. It is the opposite of being cursed of God. There are many wicked people that are happy but they are not blessed by God. Israel was blessed of God as long as they lived according to the covenant but when they became prideful and turned their backs on God they became cursed. Read Deut 28 about what it means to be blessed and cursed. I agree being "poor in spirit" means being humble, contrite, and seeing their need for God's help. -
The New Covenant was made to Israel (Jer. 31:31). In order to take part in this new covenant you must belong to Israel. No where in scripture did God make a covenant with gentiles. If you are in Messiah you are grafted into the covenants of Israel. Israel is considered the natural olive tree and gentiles belong to the wild olive tree. Paul says that some branches of the natural olive tree (Israel) were broken off that you (gentile branches) could be grafted into natural olive tree (Israel). (Rom 11) Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called "the uncircumcision" by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands-- remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. ... So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, - Eph 2:11-13, 19 ESV

I gave you scriptures...reread what I posted And if ye [be] Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. - Gal 3:29 KJV Paul specifically says that you are no longer aliens but fellows citizens with Israel through the blood of Christ. Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called "the uncircumcision" by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands-- remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. ... Yes, the New Covenant belongs to the Kingdom of Israel and Kingdom of Judah according to Jeremiah. It was because of their rejection of this covenant that it was extended to all nations. This covenant still belongs to Israel. This is why we must be grafted into Israel to partake of this covenant. Once you are grafted in, you are no long a gentile "uncircumcised" but a fellow citizen of Israel and partakers of their covenant. @TheBlade It was not talking about every time you eat food. It says every time you eat THIS bread and drink THIS cup. This is talking about special bread and wine during a special time (Passover). During the Passover it is commanded to eat unleavened bread and Jews also used special wine reserved just for their Passover meal. It was during the Passover that a special lamb was to be slaughtered. I think this is clear that this is referring to the Passover meal which is to be remembered each year and we are to do this in remembrance of the Lamb of God that was slain. And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide [it] among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake [it], and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. - Luk 22:14-19 KJV Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the Passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there. - Deu 16:1-2 KJV

The Lord Supper (aka Communion) is actually done in connection to the Passover Feast that is commanded by God that we celebrate each year.

In todays world, it seems best that people are better off not getting married being that over 60% of marriages will end in divorce. If you married today there is a good chance you will be divorced in a few years. It seems people treat marriage like a pair shoes, once they get old time to get another pair. Either way, God hates divorce because of what it does to families and children.

1) Define Hebrew Roots and what makes it different from mainstream Christianity? Hebrew Roots is an attempt to get us back to the roots of 1st Century Christianity that obeys Jesus and God's Commandments. True Christianity is birthed and rooted in the Hebrew faith not Rome. IMO mainstream Christianity has been corrupted by Roman Catholic teachings down through the ages. For instance all the Feast of God (Passover, Pentecost, Tabernacles, Atonement, Trumpets) have been replaced by Catholic Pagan holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc.. Corrupt teachings such as the Commandants are only for Jews, We don't have to obey Jesus only Paul applies to us, Dispensationalism, 3 persons = 1 God, God's commandments are abolished, etc.. The key differences between HR and mainstream Christianity are listed under question 2. 2) What are the main tenants of HR teachings and beliefs? Yahshua is Messiah and through him we have eternal redemption though faith and obedience in him the Word of God The Commandments of God are still required for us just as Yahshua taught us to keep them; obedience is not optional Keeping the Sabbath Holy (7th Day) just as Jesus and all the other Apostles did. Keeping the Feast of God are still vitally important just as Jesus and Paul kept the Feast; obviously we keep the feast a little different under the New Covenant being that Yahshua is our sacrificial lamb and our eternal high priest. We keep the dietary laws of eating only biblically clean foods. 3) Is HR a mixture of Judaism and Christianity or something entirely different? HR is Christianity but in a more pure sense as those of the 1st Century Jewish/Christian church but without all the Roman Catholic Paganism and doctrines of men attached. It resembles Judaism in some ways in the that we believe in keeping the commandments and feast of God but different because we believe and follow the teachings of Messiah Yahshua (Jesus) which taught us to keep the Torah but not the man-made Jewish traditions and rules of the Talmud or Mishnah that rabbinical Judaism follow. Jesus did not come to bring a new religion to Israel and the world but a new covenant. 4) How did you get involved with HR? It started with me becoming frustrated with what I was seeing going on in mainstream churches and I left mainstream hungry for true worship and went on a long spiritual journey praying for God to lead me to his people that worship him in spirit and in truth and not in man-made hypocrisy and traditions of men that I see in modern churches. This led me to a group of people who believe in keeping the commandments and faith in Jesus. Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. - Rev 14:12 KJV I must say I don't agree with every HR group and their various teachings just like don't agree with all dominations. HR is more a of movement and not a denomination. HR groups come in a verity fashions and flavors just like mainstream modern Christianity, but most follow the main tenants of what I mentioned above.

It would be nice to see a normal conversation regarding Hebrew Roots that sparks conversation rather then lengthy articles that no one intends to read through. Questions: 1) Define Hebrew Roots and what makes it different from mainstream Christianity? 2) What are the main tenants of HR teachings and beliefs? 3) Is HR a mixture of Judaism and Christianity or something entirely different? 4) How did you get involved with HR? NOTE: These question are for those who have been involved with HR or similar Messianic movement. Please use your own words and scriptures and not some copy/paste job from some website. Shalom, Jedi

Jesus says in the resurrection we (those who are deemed worthy) will be like the Angels. But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. [Luk 20:35-36 KJV]

@Revelation Man We will have to agree to disagree being this subject is off topic. I find no scriptural evidence of a pre-tribulation rapture, when there is plenty of scriptures that says otherwise. Sometimes people just want to connect dots that are simply not there, based on preconceived dispensationalist view formalized by John Darby and Scofield in the early 1900's.
-
That is a lot of speculation to say this is referring to a pre-tribulation rapture this could also apply to mid and post as well. Regarding one taken one left, I believe is referring to Jerusalem being captured and people being taken into captivity according to Zachariah 14. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which [is] before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, [and there shall be] a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. [Zec 14:2-4 KJV] This is why Jesus says the people who live in Judea should flee to the mountains and not look back. You are conflicting Tribulation with God's Wrath. The tribulation is Satan's Wrath because he knows his time is short. Yes we are saved from the Wrath of God but we are promised tribulation in the world. Yes, the world who gives into beast will continue to marry, eat and be joyful as believers are being persecuted, oppressed and killed. Regarding the time, Jesus said you will not know the day or hour but you will know the season of his return. Majority of the false church and world will deny that what is taken place has anything to do with what Jesus warned us about and they will fall inline with the Anti-Christ and his followers. Most of the church world will deny he is the Anti-Christ and consider him a great world leader of unity and peace. This is why we are warned to be not deceived, to stay alert, and to watch for their will be a great falling away from the faith. We will not know the exact day nor hour but we will know when he is near. For many will not be watching or aware of what is taken place until its to late. Yes those who are watching and waiting will know and be saved just like Noah and Lot were saved from the wrath of God. The second coming and rapture is the same event. Paul equates it as the same event: Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and [by] our gathering together unto him, [2Th 2:1 KJV] Also, scriptures does not say he returns with his Church but with the armies of heaven. The armies of heaven are most likely a reference to his angelic army. The bible say we meet him at his coming not that we come from heaven with him. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. [1Th 4:16-17 NKJV] And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. [Mat 24:30-31 KJV]
-
I guess we disagree then. Jesus explained all the events that lead up to his 2nd coming in Mat 24 and Luke 21 and not once does he ever mention a pre-tribulation rapture. A pre-tribulation rapture would have been very significant detail that Jesus left out. Yet he does tell of rapture or gathering after the tribulation and at his 2nd coming. Rev 19 which you mentioned is at the end of the tribulation period and just before his return where he makes war with Satan and all his followers in the final battle (The Day of Wrath/The Day of the Lord). Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. [Mat 24:29-31 KJV] If there is a pretribulation rapture why would Jesus have left that important detail out?

Rom 8:1 is one of the versus that new translations chopped off. Your bible should read there is no condemnation to them that which are in Christ who walk not after the flesh (sin) but after the Spirit. If your living in willful sin then there is condemnation. It should read like this: [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [Rom 8:1 KJV] verses: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, [Rom 8:1 NIV]

Aman...this what I believe as well. The gathering at the last trumpet (7th Trumpet) before the Wrath of God is poured out on earth. The Feast of Tabernacles is the marriage gathering of all the saints. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. - Rev 19:7-9

The new covenant is technically a covenant to Israel. It was through the mercy and grace of God that it was extended to gentiles because of Israel's rejection of the New Covenant...but this was all part of God's redeemptive plan. It was already prophecied 100's of year before, that they would reject the new covenant. When Yahshua (Jesus) came he forknew that they would reject him and crucify him. Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. [Jer 31:31-34 KJV]
