  1. Called, Can you give us a text book definition of the term Broken? I know we have all have heard it used many times but what does it really mean? I don't think many people understand what it means even though they may have heard it many times. Does it mean that your broken in the since that you do not function as in a broken toy? Does it mean that you broken in the since that your like a glass that has been broken into many pieces? Does it mean broken as in a horse that that has been broken? Meaning that one has been domesticated or tamed. What exactly do you mean by broken? I think I know what your talking about but maybe others do not. This may be another one of those spiritual clich
  2. Something we must relize is that the battle field where we fight our battles is a middle ground between the world of the Flesh and the world of the Spirit called our Mind or Soul. The battle is fought in our minds This is where Satan attacks us and this is where we either win our lose our battle. 2Co 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we don't wage war according to the flesh; (4) for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, (5) throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; 1Pe 2:11 Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Satan's battlefield is our mind or soul. This is where he deceives us and attacks us. We must learn to use the spiritual weapons that God has given us. We use the word of God (Sword of the Spirit) against these attacks to overcome. God Bless,
  3. ? Nope. Repentance means, among the other things you mentioned, that you change your behavior. Remorse for your sins is useless unless you turn from them. Repentance is about turning from SIN and turning to GOD. You cant have it both ways.
  4. Hi, I was just doing a bible study on Humility and Pride. Pride is a umbrella that breeds all kind of sins such as: PRIDE: -Self-centered -Putting your own-needs before others -Thinking your better then others -Thinking that your always right -Judgmental and Critical of others -Mocking and Sneering at others -Tears other down -Fault Finding -Ungrateful and Unthankful -Merciless and Unforgiving -Not willing to do humiliating task -Thinks others should serve them On the other hand Humility show its self in many forms: Humility: -Considerate of others even those you disagree with. -Puts the needs of others before their own needs. -Thinks highly of others and considers themselves the least of all people. -Thinks others are better them themselves -Merciful and quick to forgive -Looks past peoples faults and errors -Consistently encourages others and builds others up even when they are down -Always thankful toward others -Seeks to be a servant of others even if the task is humiliating and embarrassing The Greatest people in the eyes of God are those who consider themselves the least important of all people" Most Christians think that Humility is an option, but the truth is, its the life we have been called to. Living like Jesus who is the greatest example of true humility which we are to follow after and immatate. Me must die to our pride and selfishness. The bible says God resist and rejects the Proud but honors and blesses the humble. The bible says God gives grace to the humble but hates the prideful. James 4:6 Without Gods grace we are doomed so I will humble myself and live in Gods grace and mercy. If you want Gods grace and blessing in our life then we must humble ourselves and learn to walk in humility. If you want to live under the wrath of God and be cursed then continue to walk in Pride because a fearful destruction is at the end of your path. God bless,
  5. Yes giving is a big part of being a Believer. As a minimum you give at least 10 percent of what God has given to you. Jesus never condemned tithing or giving. I believe tithe still applies meaning 10 percent belongs to your local church and it is not to be considered yours or part of your giving. If all you give each time is 10 percent then you not giving because 10 percent belongs to God your just returning what belongs to him.. If you not tithing 10 percent to your local church then your robbing God. If you remember the story of Jesus speaking of the little old women giving all she had in the temple Treasury. Jesus didn't condemn her for it , he actually spoke very highly of her saying she gave all she had and how blessed she would be for giving out of her need instead of her wealth. Today most selfish greedy Church members would have condemned her for giving all she had to the Church. They would have talked about how she was so naive and deceived and they also would have condemned the Church she gave to as thieves and robbers. God has never told us to stop tithing and giving but contrary. People find all kind of excuses not to give or tithe. If anybody had any excuse not to give it would had been that Lil ol women Jesus spoke of. She was poor and broke and she gave all she had into the temple treasury in which most likely will be used selfishly and greedily by corrupt Jewish High Priest and Pharisees. If you want to be blessed and honored by God you must give not just 10% but all that you have. If you want to be cursed well dont give and tithe. Jesus spoke many times saying sell all that you have and give it away and come follow me. You should feel guilty if your not giving back to God after he has given us so much. Jesus commands us to Give. Luk 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. I would say this, be wise were you give your money. Dont sow your seed in bad soil but in Good soil where the money will go to reach the lost such as missionary efforts to reach people around the world. If you see a brother or sister in need give to them what they need and God will bless you for it. Your not exempt from giving just because you are poor and broke. These are times you should be givning more to God and trusting him to provide for you. God bless,
  6. There are many ways you can read and study the bible. I use a combinations of ways I read and study the bible. For one I do not read the bible like I would read a novel. Meaning I don't start at the front and read it to the back. I will usally read some from the Torah, Psalms, Prophets, Gospels, Letters, and Rev. all in the same setting. I will read this way until I am finished and then start over. Studying the bible is a whole different thing. When studying the bible I usually will have a topic in which I will find all scriptures that pertain to that topic to gain a biblical understanding of it. For example: Repentance, Baptism, Faith, Grace, Sin, Righteousness, Holinesss, etc.... God bless,
  7. Yeah awesome movie... It still amazes me that so many Jewish leaders are crying out foul play. They say this movie will cause much antisemitism and hatred toward Jews. I guess they forget that Jesus was a Jew and all his followers too. Its like saying the assassination of Abraham Lincoln will cause the world to hate Americans. Maybe its out of fear that this movie about Jesus will turn many Jews to Christ. Maybe they are out to protect their Religion that denies Jesus as the promised suffering Messiah spoken of in the book of Isaiah. God bless,
  8. I agree brother. It was the RCC that started the Idea that God is three separate persons or people. God is one and not three people. God is a Spirit that has Soul and Body which make up one person or God. Spirit = Holy Spirit Soul = Father Body = Jesus ______________ = One God Isa 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. -- God We are also a Spirit that has a soul and body just like our Father yet we are one like our Father. Spirit = The part of man that operates in a spiritual realm. Soul = Operates on a Mental realm. Body = Operates on a Physical realm. ________ = One Person 1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. -- Paul Now I am also a triune being but yet I am still one. All three of these make up one me just as the Father, Word and Spirit make up one God. All three have a different purpose and different operations but yet they are all one not three persons.
  9. I heard a good joke about differant Baptist denominations: +++++++++++++++++++++ I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said "Stop! don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said. I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!" He said, "Like what?" I said, "Well...are you religious or atheist?" He said, "Religious." I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?" He said, "Christian." I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?" He said, "Baptist!" I said, "Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist church of God or Baptist church of the Lord?" He said, "Baptist church of God!" I said, "Me too! Are you original Baptist church of God, or are you reformed Baptist church of God?" He said, "Reformed Baptist church of God!" I said, "Me too! Are you reformed Baptist church of God, reformation of 1879, or reformed Baptist church of God, reformation of 1915?" He said, "Reformed Baptist church of God, reformation of 1915!" So I pushed that &^%$& heretic off. Sad but so true!!!!
  10. Hi, There are more then one type of baptism. Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms... Mar 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. This is the first Baptism showing our commitment to repent from sin and turn to God. Then there is the Baptism of Fire which is the new birth in which God purges our life from sin and makes us pure and holy and righteous. Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: There is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit which is also mentioned in the scripture above. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is empowerment by God to be his witnesses and the power to spread the Gospel not just in the wisdom of mans words but in dynamic power. This Baptism according to scripture is accompanied by audible gifts such as the gift of Prophecy or the ability to speak in unknown tongues. Example: Act 19:2-6 NASB He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." (3) And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism." (4) Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus." (5) When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (6) And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a baptism that comes after you have repented and turned to God. Jesus says the world can not receive the Holy Spirit so you must be saved before you can receive the Holy Spirit. Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. God bless, All three baptisms are separate and are not the same.
  11. LOL....how about the magical sinnners prayer. If you repeat this lil magical prayer you will be eteranlly saved?
  12. Hi, Christian Rock did not have anything to do with the Jesus Movement. It was the Vineyard style music that came from the Jesus Movement. Most traditional Church's shunned this movement because most of the members were ex-hippies and ex-drug addicts, long-hair, bell bottoms, etc.. The traditional Church's were telling them to reform or leave. So they left and formed what is called the Jesus Movement. This movement spread far and fast across America and Canada Millions were radically saved. The Jesus Movement did not have your traditional old fashioned hymnal choir style music it was more personal and instrumental much like what you see today in contemporary praise and worship. Today you can still see the effects from this movement. Vineyard and Calvary Chapels are still spreading across America today and are the fastest growing Church's in the USA. These Church's are very untraditional the Pastor wears comfortable everyday clothing and not your traditional "look-at-me" suit and tie. Actually they highly discourage people from dressing up because it gives the false impression that God looks on the outside and not the heart. Everyone feels comfortable and at home there. During the week the church splits up in the home based ministries where people get to use their gifts that God gave them to teach and minister. Most of the people look forward the the home meetings more then they do the Friday night and Sunday meetings. I highly recommend finding a local Vineyard Church in your area and if your not into the charismatic gifts and stuff there is also the Calvary Chapel which is much of the same but very seldom use the gifts. God bless,
  13. sounds like the wounded knee beer drinkin flash hop.
  14. Hi, I believe God can restore from consequences of sin as well as the relationship. God is a God of Restoration. God has been trying to restore man ever since the fall of man. Good Example: Israel multiple times fell into horrible sins and because of their sins God allowed Israel to be overtaken by other nations as a punishment from God, but God in his loving mercy always made a provision. He said in the land in which you are held captive if you will call out to me and turn from your sins and turn to me. I will come quickly and rescue you from your captivity and brake the chains of bondage and tear down the gates of Iron and Steel and then you will come back to me and I will restore you and heal you in the land that I gave to you. This promise is for all who will listen. Many of us have been led away by our sins and we now held captive and in bondage, but God says now if you will cry out to me and turn from you sins I will come quickly and rescue you and restore you and heal you and place you back where you belong. God can restore the wasted years, the wasted relationships, the hurts by others, can use what was meant for evil and turn it into a golden opportunity. God bless,
  15. Yeah the Church that I am in going to is birth out of the Jesus Movement back in the 70's.
  16. I really think you guys are confusing psychology with culture. For instants two people can grow up in the same culture but have completely different ways of thinking and complete differnant values and qualities. Yes I agree there is a difference between a Jewish culture and a Arab culture or a Asian culture or an American culture, African culture, Greek culture etc... Paul refers to Jews and Greeks often because these were the two main cultures of that region during that time. Paul dealt very little or none with the Asian culture, African culture, European culture, or Native American culture, Hispanic culture etc... I don't believe all people fall into two mind sets Hebrew or Greek. You fall into what ever culture you were brought up in. Each culture brings both good and bad attributes.
  17. quote from shiloh347 I dont see were you get that Greeks or Gentiles are all about (Looks). This was a practice followed by Jewish Leaders also. If their Leaders are doing this you can be sure that their followers are doing this also. Read the following Scriptures: Mat 23:1-8 KJV Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, (2) Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: (3) All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. (4) For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. (5) But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, (6) And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, (7) And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. (8) But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. So the above statement about Greeks being all about LOOKS is completely false this was also practiced be Jewish leaders and followers. God bless,
  18. I guess you may have heard the ol clich
  19. Amen brother
  20. nebula asked me about the mind of Christ not your analytical Psychology of Hellenistic vs. Hebraic thinking. I was comparing the mind of Christ compared to popular Jewish thinking. Yes it has everything to do with thought process. Your position is that people are stuck between two Psychological thought patterns: Hebraic vs. Hellenistic or should I unveil it as Jewish vs. Gentile thinking. Paul made it clear that both mind-sets were bad. Jews seek after a sign and consider the gospel as a stumbling block. Greeks seek wisdom and logic and see the gospel as foolishness. Both are bad and have not the mind of Christ. God has never asked us to think like Jews or Greeks but like Christ. We are to seek the mind of Christ not Jewish thinking nor Gentile thinking but Christlike thinking. If we thought Hebraic we would see the gospel as a stumbling block. If we think like Greeks we will see the Gospel as foolishness. Hebraic and Hellenistic thinking is something we should avoid. Your the one that turned this topic into personal attacks and insults. I have not ignored anyones advice. I listen to people that do not make personal attacks. I respect Neb's opinion and I respect Yods opinion when he is not making personal attacks but I do not respect your opinion because your dogmatic and very one-side. You only respect peoples opinions that line up with your dogma and you viciously attack those who disagree with you. Maybe the best thing you can do is ignore me if you can not make a post with out making personal insults and attacks. Your fruit are speaking for you.
  21. Well thanks...not sure if I should take this a compliment or a slap in the face, but God bless you anyway. He is frustrated because he has no ground to stand-on nor is he able back up his stance with scripture. He knows what I am saying is right but he so much wants me to be wrong. This is why he is resorting to personal attacks and insults. This is how most people react when they are wrong have no position to stand on.
  22. I did not insult you. I just stated fact. You want to spread lies, and then moan about insults when you are criticized for it? Sounds pretty hypocrtical. If you want to spread slander, then you should be prepared for the response. Why is it that when ever someone disagrees with you, you claim they are liars. Isnt this childish? Grow up!
