Yeah me too....We have an old American/Amish style room. Most of the funitures is Amish made. I think most people refer to it as Mission style.

Hi, I was just wondering what you guys think about the Amish and Mennonite faith. I don't guess any of you are Amish since if your reading this unless your sinning. Have any of you been associated with the Amish or Mennonite faith. So what do you think of their beliefs and practices. If you takea book that was written from an Hebraic mindset and read and interpret it with an Hellinistic mindset, you are going to misunderstand what it is truly saying, for you are interpreting it in a way it was not meant to. You are completely wrong. As Yod said there were thousands of Pharissees. Actually there were nine orders of Pharisees, that comprised tens of thousands of the Pharisee sect. Each group fought like cats and dogs with the other eight. Jesus had his supporters and detractors among the Pharisees. Jesus was a Rabbi, and most likely belonged to the school of Hillel. That was ONE of the nine orders. All Rabbis were members of one those orders. His debates were often no different than the typical Rabbinic debates that even today still take place over halachah and various forms of religous observances. As far as "Jews being better than Gentiles" is concerned. I fail to see where you get that from the OP. You are extremely confused, and do not know what you are talking about. Jesus also warned us of the Leaven of the Pharisees too didn't he?

Politics and Religion have always coexisted. They both effect each other. Our (US) Government established a Government to allow the freedom of Religion not the freedom from religion. The US government established a freedom of religion so that Government would not infringe of the rights of Christians and other religions. But you see as our government becomes more socialistic which leads to communism that these freedoms are slowly being taken away. The Freedom of Religion is becoming the Freedom from Religion. Its important that Christians vote in favor of Religious freedom so this is the reason we discuss politics of these boards. If Christians did not participate in politics then Christians would not have a voice in our country and we would lose our religious freedom. God bless,

Hi oakleaf, Yes you belong here. We are all learning and growing, so we are all in the same boat. None of us can say that we have gained all knowledge of God. The more I learn about God the more I realize the less I know. If you are a new Christian then yes maybe there are some rooms and conversation you may want to avoid but on the other hand there are plenty of other rooms and conversations that are excellent for new Christians. Also understand that there many people from many differant Christian backgrounds so not all here share the same beliefs. Just because someone believes a certain way by no means does it represent everyone here. The bible study rooms is an excellent place. God bless you on your Pilgrimage.

My reply here might sound kind of strange, so please hear me out. When someone is caught in the snares of sin, God often sends WAVES of witnesses to help set them free, and some of these witnesses are reprovers, that thunder loudly against the sin, and in doing so break some of the bondage off, and get the attention of the captive, but the captive often has no appreciation of their efforts, nor ever sees that they have been helped them. The ministry of the prophets is so often like that, no one wanted to hear them in the old testament, and none really wants to hear them now. They themselves would get tired of speaking words that they knew whould be rejected, but that did not make their ministry useless. God so graciously sends to each of us eventually that witness that we can appreciate, a nurturing, patient, listening, loving soul that we just can't help but love, but we might have never heard the voice of love without the thundering that first woke us up, irritating as it was. When I drive down the road, I hate potholes, but I really appreciate the smooth road. Yet the guy that is running the jackhammer right outside my window, preparing the roadbed so that there can eventually be a smooth surface, well, him I don't really appreciate at all. I have seen over the years as God has used flawed humans with emotional issues and strange doctrines to do one kind of work, and the day might come when we will stand before the Lord and thank some of these that we really could not appreciate at all when we knew them in the natural world. WHAT I AM NOT SAYING is that the false prophets that claim that gain is godliness are useful, I think they are some of Satan's most effective weapons against the church. They sow to the flesh, and of the flesh they reap corruption, and they can't avoid the end result of violating spiritual law, sooner or later they are exposed for who they really are. True Christianity is Loving God and Love those around you. If you disagree with someone, well tell them the truth in Love. Such as "I disagree with you but you have a right to your opinion and I will love you anyway." Dont start callig people names and calling people ignorant and stupid (which is the same as calling someone a fool) just keep your hateful comments to yourself and say I disagree and this is why I disagree. God did not say you had to force your opinion on no one. We are all learning even those who think they know it all. To me the ones that think they know it all really have no true knowlege of God because if they did they would relize how little they do know. The bible say God hides himself from those who think they are wise and reveals himself to those of a humble and of a gentile spirit. Learn to show Love to those around not just those you agree with. I believe that we are all guilty of this to some level. I came to Christ because I was in trouble. I repented because I knew He was the only one who could save me. Judas could have been like the people who wanted Jesus dead. They watched Him die and not onces did they feel remorse about it. They never asked for forgiveness. Jesus Himself asked the Father for forgive for them. God Bless You Jacqueline I agree we all repent based on our knowlege of our sins. We just dont wake up one day and decide to repent. God usally leads you to repentance by convictiion, godly sorrow, and even distruction before we relize hey I need to repent. I repented because I hit rock bottome and God made me relize that I was a sinner headed for hell and the conviction and burden of sin on my life was too heavy for me to carry. God made me understand that if I did not repent and turn to Him that I would die and go to hell. And some of us have betrayed Jesus for a lot less then what Judas was rewarded for.
