I'm laughing, here, Iryssa. Books are are one of my favorite topics, too!! I have *loved* to read ever since I was a child, and my Christian library is all over the house! Thank you so much for sharing your favorites, brothers and sisters. This is great!!! And I can certainly understand those of you who have too many to mention or list. Love to ALL of you!

Blessings, All The Holy Bible is of course, by far, my most beloved book. But I got to thinking about my favorite books by Christian authors, and thought it would be great to hear about yours. I have been so blessed by John Bunyans, revised and updated classic, The Pilgrims Progress. How about you? What are some of your favorites? In His Love, Homeward

Sactyfied, I've been thinking about His eyes being as a flame of fire in Revelation, too. Revelation 1:14 His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow: and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

Interesting link. Thanks Bloodbought.

Sactyfied, I think the long haired, blue eyed, light brown haired Jesus depicted on so many paintings, etc., are probably not very close to His true physical characteristics while He walked among the apostles. He was a Nazarene man, and I believe to the Nazarenes, long hair on a man was considered disgraceful. Jesus as a Jewish man probably had dark eyes, and short curly dark hair. We don't really know for sure what He looked like, but just thought I'd toss this in. Someone please correct me if I'm in error, here. I would hate to have anyone believe in something that isn't true.

WHP, I so understand, and what's more important He understands, and He loves you soooo very much. Love and Blessings, Homeward

Abi, thank you soooo much for sharing that. All of your words in the above post have been a balm to my soul. I pray that they will do the same for WHP. And when you asked, "Anyway, besides who else is there to turn to for comfort, love, and rest?", you reminded me of Simon Peter's answer to Jesus when ...Jesus asked the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?" But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (John 6:67-69) I also asked that same question of Jesus, while going through the tribulation of the pain and death of my brother, and I came up with the same answer as Simon Peter did. "To whom else could I go?" ....No one else can heal a broken heart and bind up wounds like Jesus. He knows our deepest sorrows, and what we need for healing. WHP, dear, healing takes time. The deeper the wound the longer the time. And I find what Abi said to be true for me, also. I am no longer angry with God. But I still feel sorrow. Much less now. He is still binding up my wounds in His, and my time. It takes as long as it takes. But we are not without hope. And, As JC49 posted, all of us suffer, the saved as well as the lost. But we have the hope of heaven, and a multitude of other helps that the lost do not. I have read some of what he posted before, and it was helpful to me at the time and I hope it has been helpful to you. And I am so grateful for Christian fellowship. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are such a blessing. It's great to see all the hugs you are getting. I'm so glad you've come to join us. In His love, Homeward

Hello, again, WHP. Have been praying for you, dear. I understand about the deep pain and anger you feel about missing your beloved dad. And I know you are concerned for your mother, brother, and sister. Also, your plans to move back home and spend time with with your father can no longer be. I cry with you, dear. You are about the same age as my daughters, and I really hate it when they are in pain. I hate it that you are in pain, and hope my words bring you some comfort. When my brother died an awful death, I too, was in deep agonizing pain, and anger. I found a wonderful Christian counselor, and she helped me immensely over time. And I leaned hard into our God. I leaned REALLY hard into Him, and still do. He is my very best comforter. I hope this helps you, dear, and I will continue to hold you and your family up to Our Heavenly Father, in prayer. In His Love, Homeward

Aaaargh. I just did some more verse comparisons between the KJV, NKJV, and NASB on the web. So I edited the NASB out of my above post. I think for now I will just stick with NKJV and KJV.
-
Still praying for you dear.
-
My heart is breaking along with yours. I don't know what else to say at this moment, so I'll just quietly sit by your side.
-
I like the KJV, and NKJV. I did a lot of research before I decided these were the best for accuracy for me.
-
Well...the author can type blasphemies till the cows come home...but we all know Who will have the last word.
-
Did the same as Abi, and Yomotalking.

Also, have to say, I spent a long time researching which translation of the Holy Bible would be the best for me, before I even went to the bookstore. I knew I wanted the Audio Bible to include both the Old and New Testament. I read lots, and lots, and lots of debates over the best translations of the Bible. I think I was just about cross-eyed before I was done. In the end I decided on 3 criteria that were extremely important to me: 1) The New Testament should be translated from the Textus Receptus or Majority Greek rather than Critical Text. 2) It had to be as readable, or this case as hearable, as possible without sacrificing accuracy. 3) The Hebrew and Greek texts had to be translated as word for word as possible. I spent a long time on the computer comparing versions that met these criteria, and decided the the best one for me was the New King James Version. Well, Neb...there you have it. Hope it was helpful to you.

I can't see Jesus curled up in an armchair reading Harry Potter to my beloved grandson, so neither would I.

I have the NKJV, Hendrickson Publishers, read by Stephen Johnston. (58 CDs) I spent a long time picking it out. I have a thing about sound, and I have to admit some voices do irritate my ears. But not Stephens! I love it, and listen to it almost daily, especially at night. Here's what Hendrickson Publishing has to say about Stephen: Stephen Johnston is known and recognized for his expressive baritone voice. He is a committed Christian who has been involved in many facets of the radio and television industries, and his outstanding work has been honored with an Emmy Award, a Film Critics Award, and nine Angel Awards. Also, Nebula, there is a soft instrumental background which is quietly pleasant, rather than intruding on God's word. Yes, this is the one I really liked listening to in the store, so home with me it came! I hope you find one you really enjoy, and can reap the wonderful benefits of hearing God's word. God Bless.

I got a whuppin' in kindergarten for leading my schoolmates up the fire escape ladder. No, it sure didn't scar me. I knew I deserved it, and wouldn't you know, to this day that dear teacher is still one of my favorites.

Katie as a mother and grandmother I can imagine your pain and tears. You have my total love and support. I am praying for comort for you today. In His love, Homeward

Amen, Dr. Luke. Your words are loving and wise, indeed. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1, 2 LORD, I pray, let not my lips hinder the weary traveler. Let the words of my mouth proclaim Your peace, hope, and love to all who come in search of Your living water.

Hi Katie. I'm so glad you are getting good info and support! And you said a few families from that group are near you. That's great! Yes, it might be nice to meet some of them. I hope you can all get together and gather even more strength from each other. Been praying for you all daily. In His love, Homeward

Katie dear, I am praying and will continue to pray for you, your son, and your entire lovely family. It would be a great pleasure for satan to bind you with the thoughts of guilt you've been carrying. Don't let him even get a toe in the door, let alone an entire foot. Dear Heart, Christ has said, and therefore I believe it, that He has set you free. John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. In His love, Homeward

Dave, you are a tremendous blessing here at Worthy. Our Father must delight in the words of your mouth (or keystroke rather), as they are a crystal clear reflection of His heart. Thank you dear brother for sharing your treasures with us. And I am happy to share one of my treasures for today, which is Psalm 73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all your works.

Another amen! I agree with traveller that this is an excellent thread!
