I do beleive that everyone thought that a hurricane would never hit New Orleans...which was a huge potential disaster for years. Sure, it isn't likely that a comet will hit us, but still possible. There are hundreds of potentially close comets, the only reason one hasn't hit yet is because it's a one in a million chance. One in a million is still one

I find that the times when I am most lost is when I am the farthest away from God. He is our truth, our savior and our light. In dark places, he is a guiding light that leads us out. So when we're stuck in a dark tunnel and far away from God, of course we get lost! Yet he hasn't abandoned us; most times we have simply wandered away from him either willfully or accidentally. Are you saved? If so, I invite you to pray about this, and to seek wisdom from the Bible. If you aren't saved, the above advice still stands . I also suggest going to the doctor and perhaps seeing if you have a chemical imbalence in your brain - this can somtimes cause deperession for no reason and there are treatments for it. I will pray for you

Is Jesus the next killer app?
InternalFlame replied to Old Timer's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
I don't see a difference between the two. The Message is in the music. I can understand why people would get into it more because singing to the Lord together with everyone is very connecting; connecting to God and to each other. When the preacher is speaking, I feel seperated from everyone...I prefer to sing, or to have small discussion groups where I know I can participate. Put in my input and ask questions. The important thing is that the people are really sincere about what they sing. -
This is helpful, thanks . Could you possibly give me some sources so I can show them to my friend?

Recently an agnostic friend of mine brought up the whole thing about Tyre. Ezekiel 26:13 I will put an end to your noisy songs, and the music of your harps will be heard no more. 14 I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread fishnets. You will never be rebuilt, for I the LORD have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD. Though Tyre was destroyed, today it is a thriving city. His argument is that the prophecy is wrong, which is a point against the authenticity of the Bible. How should I answer him?

I would go for it. You're all mature adults - if you go out with each other and things don't work out, it doesn't mean that you will lose everything. I happen to be proof of that since two of my good friends are ex-boyfriends (which, by the way ,both work with me at the same place, and they get along great!) so if that is possible, then it can be for you. Besides, you're thinking of the worst case senario! For all you know, you'll date, get married, and all three of you would be closer. I would agree with butero...take it slow and date her, because if you don't, you could regret it for the rest of your life.

Well, Adam and Eve started the whole path into sin, however, we as people today still choose the wrong things all the time, and when we choose wrong things there are almost always circumstances. We cannot begin to fathom God's mind and why He choose to make us; all we can do is study the Bible and speculate. Good luck on your studies brother

Can anyone see what's typed here? Because for most of the posts, I can't see the message part.

Standing with you in prayer don't worry, God will take care of this. Nothing that satan can do will ever be stronger than what GOD can do! Good always triumphs...have faith, and don't lose heart - that's what the devil wants! Also praying that God builds a hedge of protection around your family so that the enemy may not even touch you.

I used to have really big self esteem issues, and for the most part have now gotten over them. Mostly the reasons for my being so was because I was overweight, unpopular, and therefor had a pretty negative attitude that didn't help towards my self-esteem. I was pretty much rejected all through elementary school for no good reason, I was THE outcast. As you can imagine, this did create a lot of issues. My low self esteem eventually got between God and I and I drifted away from Him. Interestingly enough, when I came back to Him is when I started feeling more sure of myself (though it did help that I lost 40 pounds from swimming). The reason that happened the way is did is because God started to show me how to use my natural talents to glorify Him. No matter how badly you think of yourself, or what other people think, God has gifted us all with something. It could be something as small as being a good listener. Pray to God, and really listen to what He is trying to tell you. I KNOW you have some talents, really search within yourself. Something that you love to do, or always had no problem accomplishing...maybe even something you never thought about before.

He doesn't need it; but think about it. How would you feel if your children, or your wife loved you, yet never said it or did anything to show that they did? Even if you know they love you, you still feel a bit dejected. Even worse, how would you feel if your child hated you, when you brought him life? I'm not saying that this is what God feels, because I can't know the mind of God, but perhaps this will help you understand. No one ever needs love or attention or praise, but a little of each for every person is healthy. People who are not loved can have problems with depression and so many other things. What abranchofhim said is very true. God is not the reason for trials on this earth, but sin is. Sin is something we choose to bring upon ourselves when Eve ate the apple...it is often our own free will which causes so much suffering. Because God gave us the choice, we also can make the bad choices, and so many [people today make the bad choice. Not only do these bad choices make us suffer, but others as well. Such as a rapist, who chooses to do what he does...and because of his wrong choices some women would be scarred for life. BUT, there is also vengence. Though the wicked seem to always flourish, in the end they get what is coming to them from God. So while there is suffering on this world, there are also repprecussions for those who cause it. As for the natural things such as earthquakes ect. this world is dangerous any way you look at it. It will be dangerous until Jesus comes again. Also, times of trial for beleivers can stregthen their faith. I know that well enough, I have had many emotional trials in my life, and looking back, no matter how miserable I was I am glad that I had them because I came out of it a better person. God disciplines those he loves so that they may become stronger The definition of discipline? 1. Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement. and 2.Punishment intended to correct or train. Interestingly enough the latin root of this word is disciplina “instruction given to a disciple,” from discipulus. So this word quite literally means "instruction given to one who is learning". You can't spell discipline without the letters for disciple. Move the letters around and you get in disciple. Discipline means we are in discipleship with the Lord...he is teaching us, training us, so that we make work for Him, and carry out His will. Don't look at your situation in despair - know that the Lord is simply training you so that you may be stronger for it. Like Job, who got back twice of what he lost, blessings may be just around the corner. Hope this gave you some food for thought, and I will pray for you Good luck brother, and blessings upon you.

It's hard for kids, especially ones who like to work with their hands and keep busy to sit still an listen. I should know, I was one fifteen years ago! I think the best bet is to bring God into his life by useing things he loves - drawing, ect. Perhaps giving him a coloring book with scenes from the Bible, or something like that. Also, a great way to get him to learn about God is to present it in a fun way, like with puzzles and stuff. Make it an activety, and he's sure to not fall asleep . Then, as he gets older he should be able to really appreciate church.

Discussion, fellowship, prayer. Getting together with a group and studying the Bible can be very benificial. People often don't think about the importance of fellowship (expecially me) yet two minds are better than one, and several minds together can really get the learning juices flowing .

I know how hard it is to wait at times - we humans sure are impatient creatures! But beleive me, when we wait God brings such blessings upon us. For now, build a good friendship, wait until she gets older...and above all things, take it easy. Even if you know you're going to marry her, don't get super serious on her or you might scare her away. Just get to know her and let God work His will. I'll pray for you Good luck brother

The Lord's name has great power...I wouldn't think of it so lightly. Either way, if you call on the Lord's name if there are any demons influenceing your brother they would have to come out. My personal opinion would be that the best thing to do would be to get out of there...it seems like a very harmful enviroment, and that your life may be in danger...maybe you could stay at your grandmothers? And after that perhaps see if you can get your family to a counsoler. The best thing you can do is to pray about it...I will be praying for you and your family. -
Thanks for all the answers I got . I know I must give my life over to Him, but sometimes am confused about what His will is for me. The way I see it, the best I can do right now is try to keep God in my life all day, and if He calls me to do something do it the best that I can.

My question is...is it wrong then to do anything else with your life? Are we all supposed to not try to find careers to devote your entire life to Jesus? Because if that was true then nothing would get done in this world I can't just quit college, my parents are paying good money so that I can get a career. Yet College sucks up most of my time, so I can't devote the whole day to Jesus... What if I love my life? What if I'm enjoying the blessings I have? Am I then wrong, that I love God's creation? That I enjoy movies from time to time?

I know what you mean about being shy. I had and still somewhat have a problem with it. I will pray for you

Dealing with impure thoughts...
InternalFlame replied to Laces Out Dan's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
Every single Christian out there has this struggle to one degree or another, but we must strive to be pure...so that we can be worthy when God brings us our choosen mate. I know I have had trouble with this from time to time myself, and when I go down that path I just try to remind myself that God will bring my guy to me on His own time...and at that time I will be able to have all that I had wanted all those years. Effort brings reward - Don't worry, God has a plan -
Dealing with impure thoughts...
InternalFlame replied to Laces Out Dan's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
Wait over night and you'll get more replies. It may be that the people who have read the post didn't have any advice worth giveing. Sexual desire is a perfectly natural thing, but having impure thoughts is something we need to avoid. There is also a difference between having a passing thought and dwelling on that thought and making it become a fantasy. All I can say is pray about it, and put a concious effort foreward to stop it...God will forgive. -
Praying for ya Any time you feel like that pray and rebuke him in Jesus name. You don't have to tolerate him.
