  1. I am interested in the answer to this question myself.. I once asked my pastor about it and it even stumped him. Looking forward to see what answers you get.
  2. ok guys what i really wanted to know is just what signs of an apostle was paul talking about in 2Cor12:12
  3. i already know that the office of apostle ceased with te death of the original 12 apostles. Hi Friar: Could please tell where you get your scriptural reference for such a statement? qualifications of an apostle are given in Acts1:21-22 Therefore it is necessaryto coose one of the menwho have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,beginning from John's baptism to the time thaJesus was taken up from usfor one of these must become a witnesswith us of his resurrection. I think the the key qualification was he had to be an eyewitness of the ressurrected christ. the apostle paul met the resurrected christ on the damascus road. nobody living today can make the claim of seeing the ressurected christ in the flesh so to speak therefore there are no apostles today
  4. I am asking about the gifts because i already know that the office of apostle ceased with te death of the original 12 apostles.
  5. The things that mark an apostle---signs,wonders and miracles---were done among you with great perserverance.(2 Cor 12:12) just what were these signs and wonders? Did they pass away after the death of the apostles. are these the gifts of 1 Corinthians 12-14. and does this mean all these gifts passed away after the 1st century?
  6. my favorite translations in order of preference are : 1. NKJV 2. KJV 3 NIV 4. NASB
  7. I have studied this issue of bible translations for several years ans so far my conclusion is : Don't rely on any one single version they all have their weaknesses and strengths I always read the King James Version along with my New International Version and my New King James Version. I have seen no valid reason to cast aside any of these translations.
  8. You guys have given me a lot to think about so I guess for now I am in the undecided camp. or maybe pan millennialst lol it will all pan out in the end
  9. no but thanks for opening the opportunity for me to have a title for my beliefs: historical premillenialism - sweet !! I assume you are a post tribber, cool,Historical premillenialist does sound better huh, after all it is the teaching of Jesus, the bible and the Apostles. So Far the only weakness I see in historic premillenialism is this : if the rapture is post trib. Where will the population for the millennium come from? All the believers will be in glorified bodys and all the the unbelievers alive at that time will be destroyed therefore if post trib rapture is what bible teaches the amill is the view that fits
  10. Nah, just be civil when you run into the majority who believe differently and debate objectively. What changed your mind? what made me kind of take a anotther look is when back in the the 1970s Hal Lindsay predicted christ would return in 1988 and other people that made other predictions so I am currently looking at other systems of eschatology to see if they have any merit For now I am wavering between amillenialism and partial Preterism. It wasn't Hal Lindsay was it that predicted 88?...it was some cat who wrote a book entitled 88 reasons why Sept 88 is it. When it failed to happen, he wrote another book entitled 89 reasons why 1989, claiming a miscaculation of the Roman calendar or something. Hal Lindsey did predict Jesus' return in the Late Great Planet Earth book and he said he would return in 88. But like I said pretribers are not just premillennialist but they are also escapist and do not represent those of us that are Historical premillennialist as taught by the apostles. I may have to take a look at historic premillenialism. Could you sugest some books or websites for me to look at
  11. Hal Lindsay only hinted at 1988 by saying that since a generation in the bible is 40yrs and that Israel reformed as a nation in 1948 that the 2nd coming would occur about 40 years from that date.

Also I found in my study of churc history and by reading old bible commentaries that dispensationalism was not ever taught until after the 1830s and that most commentaries before that time were either amill or postmil
  13. I was asked to leave another christian board because i am no longer premil dispesational in my eschatology but am leaning to wards the amillennial sysm of theology. my queustion is will I be asked to leave wothy because of this?
  14. I do have preference for the King James Bible but I also read other translations such as the NKJVand the NIV. And yes I find the king james as easy to read as the nIV or NKJV. In fact I find it easier to to read than the NASB.
  15. I have just prayed for god to give you direction as you attempt to reach out to reconcile with your father. am also praying fo God to bring him to salvation I will be praying for you and your father in the days ahead.
