RND, My point being that the law misses a lot. The OT says that a day was coming when the law would be written on their hearts. Look, One man esteems a day, another everyday alike, let each be fully convinced in his own mind, the Lord will make him able to stand. Hebrews 4 clearly states to me that the Sabbath is revealed to those that believe, not to those who it was first preached, because of their unbelief. (mind you, those to whom it was first preached--the Jew--still observe the day) God says they have no rest because, like you, they don't get it. The Sabbath is the rest intended in Christ from the beginning. He did not end the 7th day creation, all the others say "and the evening and the sun were the 1st, 2nd..........6th day, there was no intended end to the 7th, it was complete without end. Adam and Eve communed with God everyday, they had perfection, access to the Father, without shame, UNTIL sin. From that point until the cross man had to go through a priest, no access to the throne because of sin, God told them to remember the Sabbath to point them to a time when they could again have complete access to the Father, without man intervening. Jesus became our High Priest, we are blameless through His blood, we can pray directly to God. The Sabbath is Today for those who believe Hebrews 4.

Most people who preach no rapture think it is some sort of escapism theory but really that isn't appropriate since christians have been and are martyred still for their faith, just not in the USA. I believe it is a reward for the righteous, since we will be reigning with Christ on the new earth I believe He will use the 7 years to prepare us for that task. The bible plainly says He will return in the clouds with His saints. If I'm wrong of course I'd rather die for Christ than spend eternity in hell for rejecting Him! I prayed for wisdom about this subject since I didn't know what to believe and God showed me the parable of the 10 virgins and I understood the rapture to be for the church and the five un wise virgins not being ready. It may surprise you to recognize that christians don't think Sunday is the Sabbath, we believe Jesus is our Sabbath rest, the day pointed to Him. See Hebrews4

I'm wary of anyone that insists on argueing a particular doctrine. The Pentecostal focus on the tongues, the Catholics on Mary, the SDA's on the Sabbath. We are called to focus on Jesus, He fulfilled the law.

RND Everyone has a chance to be saved as long as they are still breathing. Missing the rapture does not negate a persons chance to be saved. I suspect you are SDA as I am an EX-SDA. Right?

Stricklator, I've struggled with this stuff my whole life, down to: Why eat great and exercise when I'm gonna die anyway. I know my thinking is not God's will for my life. We are called to be good stewards and to do everything to the Glory of God. Part of it is my upbringing, I was raised in a cult that told me I would be persecuted by the world for my beliefs and my mother was always telling me I'd never make it to high school or get married because Jesus would come first, we were always living in the last days, sigh. I'm 37 now and I believe we should take care of the earth because it might be here another 1000 years, we honestly do not know when Jesus will return, his view of time is not ours. We will have descendants after us that will have to live here if He tarries and we take care of ourselves because we need to be here to fulfill His will for our lives. I suspect you have a little bit of a feeling of hopelessness like me. Praise God He is in control. Good question.
