  1. Thank you Lady RAven, I listen to David Wilkerson's sermons online. This is a good one. You are such a help to this forum. thank you.
  2. One of my older son's favourite quotes is roughly.."Over time, history tends to fall on the side of justice." In keeping with that, the Pagan festival has now pretty much completely returned to its pagan roots. Even in - or especially in - the church, it is very difficult to find any place to put the gospel message. You start that Jesus stuff and you can't have Santa (santa/satan?hmmnnn ) come to visit - the Pharisees get huffy. As with anything that is of Satan, this celebration is a perversion of God's truth. We were given the greatest gift that there is and yet we want something that cost dollars/needs batteries and is probably meaningless over time. The only thing that is true about the Christmas celebration is that Jesus was born as a human child. Everything after that is Hollywood or worse. I am always reminded of the Golden calf. The israelites believed they were worshipping Jehova and it just happened to be in a pagan way. We know how well that went over. yet, try to tell a Christian about the pagan nature of everything they do in this time and they are amazed and in denial. An advent wreath is directly akin to Wiccan practice of incantation. this stuff and nonesense hit its zenith for me when a "christian" told me - with a straight face - how we needed spiders on the tree because one made the baby Jesus smile. I attended a Christmas Eve service last year and the creche was all white and gold and pretty. I was so tempted to go and put a bucket of manure in that thing so that there would be some reality in it. Jesus certainly did not have all white and gold satin and lots of pretty. but then what would He know about Christmas?
  3. I bumped the Word of Faith thread back to this page. it contains excellent information about this heresy. it should really be pinned - it is that well done in presenting the information.
  4. This topic and its excellent teaching is needed back on page one so I am bumping it up There is true evil in this stuff and it should not be allowed to stand .

    i have a question?

I would ask that you be very clear that there is only ONE devil - there are legions of demons (fallen angels who came with...) but that Satan is one entity. To be honest, part of your premise seems to be implying that your protagonist is somehow doing the work of Christ. It may just be the way my brain is reading your words. I would also add - in Christian love- that if you are going to become a writer - get a good desk reference and learn what words are and how they work in a sentence. In another post, you used Whose - showing possesion when you meant to to say Who's - a contraction of who is. You wouldn't become a carpenter without knowing a hammer from a nail.

    Abortion

If a woman has been raped, she has been violated in her most private area. This is not her fault -it is not her choice. If she chooses abortion because of the rape, she is violated in her most private area and she has chosen and caused this one. This is a personal hell of large proportions. These are the thoughts of a rape victim who spoke at our local pregnancy support centre's banquet. I have heard many women say that they have never regretted keeping or having and adopting that child. That God gave them something wonderful - beauty for ashes it seems.
  7. Well to each his own of course. I guess, since I tend to a dry (often acerbic) humour myself, I am with her. I guess my main interest in this is that Values Voters will listen and be concerned enough to vote on Nov. 7th. Find a candidate that will stand for your values and VOTE. I have a vested interest in your efforts to stop Partial Birth Abortion so i want Pro-life people to take the day. Please don't let teh "Godless" take hold of your houses My country (CDN) sends women to the US for these despicable abortion procedures
  8. An interesting read: http://ohr.edu/yhiy/article.php/1087 I find it interesting that a marriage contract continues to this day. There has to be something behind all this; but scripture...hmmnn
  9. I have never understood why "Christians"hate him. Although I find that it is only those who don't really know all of the ministry that they cover. They talk about everything having to do with family and life. some people ( the liberal left in churches')are convinced he only deals with nuclear families and they are so wrong but since they know the facts, there is no way truth will get in the way of that
  10. Thank you for the link. I listen to fotf most days but I might have missed this and I like Ann Coulter. She has got this figured out and it just hits all the marks when she points them out. Wish I had seen all that she saw in the way she saw it. course that is why they pay her the big bucks
  11. This does tie into the thread about the Whole armour of God. This is where the Sword of The Spirit - the Word - is of most use to us. Knowing God's plan and the nature of satan gives us the foothold to deny condemnation. One way of knowing if you are being Condemned or Convicted is in the nature of the two. Condemnation (from Satan) is general and says "You are wrong or bad." Conviction (from the Holy Spirit) is specific and says, "What you did is wrong or bad. For there is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus. (rom. 8:1)
  12. No you did not commit the unforgiveable sin because you are bothered by having done this thing. The unforgivable sin is really tied to hardness of heart and that is not your case. One bit of advice i really like... When Satan reminds you of your past; remind him of his future!
  13. Question: Will we be able to recognize in heaven those whom we knew during this life? Answer: Matthew 8:11 says that in the kingdom of heaven, many will sit with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For this to be true we must be able to recognize and know who we are sitting with, and therefore we ourselves must also be recognizable. From this pasage it can be deduced that at least after the resurrection from the dead we will be recognizable by others because we will be in a bodily existence once again. This study can be found here: http://www.apostolic.net/biblicalstudies/knowheaven.htm
  14. If you had asked me (and of course you did) I would still have thought the Bible ended with "Even so, come Lord Jesus I checked my three different versions and they all add the other stuff. Amazing the things we think are in there.
  15. The offensive weapon is the sword of the spirit which is The Word Of God. Eph 6:17And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. We are stronger with the Word in our hearts and on our tongues than without it.
  16. Yes. Thank you all. It is so great to know that you can ask and receive in the fellowship Blessings all
  17. I am absolutely sure that it says... "Do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together" (or fellowshipping of the saints in some versions) But I cannot find it anywhere by online searches. Do any of you know what the real passage might be and where it might be found? I hate it when this happens Thanks all
  18. I believe that we should meditate on what each part of the armour means - how it will assist or keep us focussed in our battles each day. We should be clear - through repeated meditation - about what this means. You may find different understanding coming to you as you continue to meditate on each item. I don't think it would go amiss to go through the physical motions if it provides another avenue of learning. I saw a FAithville episode once where a character "put on" his invisible helmet of salvation. That twigged with me - I could see that adding to the understanding. Using the body to learn is helpful for kinesthetic learners - as I am. I assume you were looking for a practical approach to this question.

    demonic attack

A small warning about "magikal" ornaments. Satan is not required to respect amulets - our faith is to be in Jesus Christ and not amulets - but he (satan) will often appear to respect such objects so that you are tricked into believing that jewelry can keep you safe. Do not expect that symbol to keep you safe. It is another of satan's lies that it will protect you. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ that you might be saved (Acts 16:31a) This is general and specific.
  20. She may be misreading or mishearing the Apostle's creed where it says, "He was crucified, dead and buried, He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead and ascended into heaven" There is not a connection between the two parts but people who hear that think He spent three days in hell. This is not what it says.

In addition to the excellnt advice that you have been given, you need to stop the sin of fornication that living together entails. (You called him a boy friend) As long as you continue in this state of unrepentant sin, Satan continues to have a right to impose himself into your life. Even calling on the name of Jesus and receiving salvation does not remove Satan's "legal" rights to move against you while you continue to work against God's simplest commandments.
  22. Yet again quoting Phil 4:8 NASB 8Finally, brethren, (A)whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. I spent years watching Law and Order because I loved the place that words play in law. Someone pointed out how clearly the social agenda of naral and the aclu is played out in who they choose to be the guilty party. E.G It is the minister in the Ex-gay ministry who kills the fallen convert. In an episode that calls for assisted suicide, the gay person who assists the suicide is presented as a victim of circumstance. (the circumstance that he had unprotected and eventually lethal sex is not brought into the discussion) The priest who takes responsibility for shooting an abortionisthas to admit under oath that it is wrong to kill an abortionist, (thereby making it a draw that abortionists kill babies) It is in all of these ways that watching TV gets into your mind. There was a TV channel that ran through 5 years of Ally McBeal in 3 months so I decided that I would watch it in order to see what the culture was up to and what had value around the water cooler. If you watched the show, you will now know that people who live celibate lives are psychologically damaged and that all Christians are flakes that are just a joke and do not have a place in the life of any real personn. That is the background nose that is available from TV viewing. It can be very useful to have a form in front of you to just put a check down everytime co-habitation is "a given". In how many instances of sexual activity, how often are the particpants married - to each other. Media Literacy is the answer to much of this discussion. Unfortunately, media litercy leads to media stoppage for most Christians when you look at what is actually out there. In regards to Phil. 4:8, what is good, honourable, true about what you put into your eyes? Each Christian has to make this choice, how many are even asking the question let alone choosing the Godly path.
  23. It was the early reformed church that decided this. I am just reporting on it today The system of doctrine known as Arminianism is heresy. It is an offshoot from Pelagianism and Semi-Pelagianism. It has been adversely affecting the church and its doctrine for over 250 years. Men like Finney and Wesley, being the charismatic personalities they were, propagated the doctrine and resurrected the Pelagian error from the pit of hell once again to persecute the church of Christ. Today's Arminians are not necessarily the same caliber as those of old. Historic Arminianism is altogether heretical. http://www.apuritansmind.com/Arminianism/Arminianism.htm The article goes on to say that each possibly heretical church/doctrine must be examined... but they are all fruit of the poisoned tree.
  24. I would heartily endorse the Good News Bible as it is good for young people or low reading level Bible students. It is less likely to fall into the errors of both the NIV and The Message.
