WN: China won't allow U.S. to check out fighter jet - Washington T
GeneV replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in World News
007 to the rescue - the USAF can't look at the internet wonder why it looks like an undercover F15 Tomcat, could it be a Chinese replica -
Interesting subject although far too complex to go into in detail here. A Theologian by name Paul Tillich discusses this very same topic in one of his books called A History of Christian Thought (I think), which I suggest you read. I am not a great fan of Tillich but he covers your question succinctly and, in my opinion, quite nicely.

The originator of the course is Nicky Gumbel an ordained Anglican priest, he has written a few books including a well constructed aurgument critisizing the 'Da Vinci code'. The Alpha course is now used by various denominations world wide, and in my opinion, is excellent.

Traditionally, in Africa women do not have a say, in politics or polls. Therefore as a tribal chief of note I hereby declare this poll null and void. Ladies please confine yourselves to barefootedness in the kitchen where you belong and leave the serious matters to those with the largest cerebral contents in their craniums. btw I am leaving for an undisclosed destination for an indefinate time sooooo.........will the guys PM me when the dust settles or the hit squads stop looking.

I love the Beatitudes and in particular your way of expressing them!

I am am Male, have hairs on me chest, I am tough, brainy, thoughtful, lovable and irresistable.....but looking at the votes so far I reckon my feminine side needs reviewing HAR! btw A well known study by an eminent scientist has found that it takes at least 12 females to beat one male at chess, the problem is that the game is a long drawn out affair as the 12 can never agree on the first move outta here

Once again I agree Leonard, earlier on in Corinthians the Apostle speaks of the adultry and fornication taking place in the area, possibly due to the influence of Nero and his court, but he also goes on to say Gene

I agree Iryssa but would like to add the following, if you don't mind... Genesis 1 : 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. : 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." Proverbs 31: 10 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life We should also look at the context in which Paul was speaking to the people of Corinth in order to clarify the subject matter. They are souls, for whom Christ died, and they need our prayers more than they need our condemnation. Nicely put sir

In answer to your question all that is needed is underlined and in bold above. Having done that all will then follow including their mistaken beliefs.... I sincerely hope that you are right, GeneV. Having studied the mormon religion over several years, it is obvious that their worship is very closely related to the worship of Quetzalcoatl - the 'feathered serpent' who supposedly came to the central and south Americas many centuries ago. We are warned to beware of false 'christs' Yes you are right Stephen, I still think your sig says it all!

Extract from Mathew Henry 19:27 Those my enemies. This portrays the fate, not of church members, but of those who would not have the Lord reign over them. It embraces all the impenitent. Compare Mt 13:49 21:44 25:30:00 2Th 1:8-10. 19:27 He went before - The foremost of the company, showing his readiness to suffer. 19:11-27 This parable is like that of the talents, Mt 25. Those that are called to Christ, he furnishes with gifts needful for their business; and from those to whom he gives power, he expects service. The manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal, 1Co 12:7. And as every one has received the gift, so let him minister the same, 1Pe 4:10. The account required, resembles that in the parable of the talents; and the punishment of the avowed enemies of Christ, as well as of false professors, is shown. The principal difference is, that the pound given to each seems to point out the gift of the gospel, which is the same to all who hear it; but the talents, distributed more or less, seem to mean that God gives different capacities and advantages to men, by which this one gift of the gospel may be differently improved.

You shouldn't be Kat it really comes down to a personal issue or mindset...those who wish to drink will drink no matter where they live and those who don't, won't - it's that simple. I don't believe this is something that can be banned, look at the prohibition era and see how organised crime flourished. Maybe for the underage it would be a good deterrant though

Why are Christians so afraid of affection?
GeneV replied to DarkNebulaWelder's topic in General Discussion
Ha! No thanks L you will get a handshake and a pat on the back from me.......seriously it took me a while to showing affection to my fellow Christians and although I am not a compulsive hugger yet I do return the hugs I get joyfully and the odd peck on the cheek.
