Thank You all for your input! As a new believer I am finding out, as I get to know God better and my relationship with Him grows, He really doesn't work in "mysterious" ways, it's right there in front of me! It's been awhile since I went to that service and I haven't been back to that chuch. There is no doubt in my mind that it's the right thing to do.

My son pointed this out to me today: Acts 2:14-21 What I get out of this is that we will all prophesy, not just a chosen few. My instincts are still more on the "beware" side of the service I attended the other night. 14Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17" 'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'[c]

It doesn't matter what other people THINK...what matters is only what the Bible says...I thought that my post had some very clear Bible verses, but search out your own answers in the Bible. The Bible is where the only complete truths can be found. You are very right that it doesn't matter what people think. It is in fact, the truth that is written in the Bible. Thank You for making me realize this! Really! I went back and read your post again. I have also been doing some searching on my own and allot of praying. My intuition tells me to stay away. I would like to add that when my friend asked me what I thought I was honest and told him I was uncomfortable and didn't plan on returning. He said that when he first started going there he felt the same way but over time got "used" to it. I feel that when a person walks into a church (any church) should feel at home, it's really not a place you should have to get used to.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not judging. I am just searching. I realize many people believe in different ways what is real and what is not. Some things are very CLEAR in the bible and some are not, this subject is definitely one of those that is not really clear. As I read through all the posts I'm realizing just how different everyone thinks.

The accusation about the apostles being drunk was not due to their acting strange, but simply that they were speaking in different languages. There is no mention of any other reason for the charge. Agree that the message must be Biblical, but there is absolutely no scriptural support for people acting like that when they actually get saved. There is much more support for these reactions being demonic, and for any speaker to condone such things should be a warning sign. Not all who preach the gospel are doing so from pure motives, and so far no one has relayed what the content of the message was that prompted these reactions. How do we know these people were truly saved at all? And yes, we should look at "the man", the teacher/speaker, because God will hold them to a higher standard. Paul's letters on how to choose elders give a high and strict standard for them, requiring that they be tested. The message was of his dream/vision of being before God and how Jesus tore the pages out of his "book of life" (the speakers) and nailed them to the cross. Then Jesus went back to the book where there was 1 page remaining with the speakers name on it and Jesus then washed that page with the blood on His hands. It really was a powerful message, it was the way people were acting/yelling that made me very uncomfortable. It was something I had never seen before. Nor have I read anything in the Bible that would lead me to believe that this was genuine. I've been praying that God give me "clarity" and so far I get the feeling that I will never return to that church.

I attended a service last night that a friend invited me to. It was at a place called "Healing Room Ministries". The speaker said he was a Prophet. He said God speaks to him. He said he had a vision or a dream about being taken to the Cross and watching Jesus wash away the sins in his "book of life" with His (Jesus's) blood. I am i fairly new believer as some of you already know. Right now, and throughout the service last night all I could think of was how the Bible tells us to beware of false Prophets and Teachers. I don't think God literally speaks to us. I believe how he speaks to us is more in directing and showing us. Am I way off here? Confusion is not something I handle well. I need clarity. Also at this service I saw some strange things and people do strange things I have never seen before. There was a couple of men in the audience that were jerking around and yelling. Especially when the speaker said something that the audience thought to be a powerful statement. Then the speaker called upon a couple of people in the crowd (by name so he knew them), they walked forward and I can't even explain what happened next. He (the speaker) put his hands on these people and said something, i can't remember what exactly and the people would pass out and fall to the floor! I can't even begin to tell you how uncomfortable this made me. Scared me actually. I had three other friends with me and they all felt the same way. The friend that invited us truely believes the this is all true. He says that the people in the audience that were jerking around and yelling were speaking from the Holy Spirit. That they couldn't stop it if they wanted to. I know it says in Scripture that when the Holy Spirit enters we may (at least back then) speak in tongues or laguages we have never learned. There was no foriegn langauges spoken here, just a bunch of yelling and literally "flopping" around. My "gut" feeling on this is, it was not real, although these people, including my friend (the one who invited us) believe it. I'm asking for some help here! Please! Scripture based or even some opinions. Thank You!

Thank You! I'm learning! Why is that anyway?

Mark 11:23 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. James 1:5-7 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; Ask God to show himself to you. Have faith in His great love for you. He IS there, and you will find Him if you seek Him. Tell Him about your doubts, He understands. -
Ok, this sounds really weird but for the last few days on my computer when the word God is in a sentence it looks like this: G-d. It doesn't matter what website I'm looking at, the o is a -. (not just any o, only when in the word God.) The first time I noticed it, it was here on a post someone wrote. I had thought that maybe the o on their key board was broken. Then off and on I would notice the same thing more in different places. tonight I went to check out a site someone suggested and there it was again! This time the word Lord looked like this: L-rd and also G-d! I'm I going crazy?!!!!

Worthy News: Robertson: Stroke Was God's Wrath - Fox News
susansduval replied to George's topic in U.S. News
I am a fairly new believer and have not done alot of "studying" the Bible. I have read most all of the OT and most of the NT. In the OT God makes it VERY clear not to "mess with" His Holy Land! Is Roberts right on this one? I believe he is. Even if Sharon is 77 and in poor health God Himself is at the controls. I am going to do some "googling" and see what I can find. This is something that really intrests me! Is it in the Bible? I have not yet learned to read between the lines yet and this a good subject to start with. -
BellaRose I couldn't help but think as I read the above that if you put the word America where the word Australia is they are much the same.

I always believed in God (I think I did, for the most part) I wasn't raised in a Christian home, we never went to church. I was 44 years old when I was given a Bible by a friend. All I had to do was start reading it. I was absolutely fascinated! I couldn't put it down! Don't ask me how, but I knew in my heart it was real. My faith has continued to grow and I crave wanting to learn more! So for me, what brought me to God? Education.

Mark 11;25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins." AN END-TIMES DECEPTION: INDIGO CHILDREN
susansduval replied to thunderbyrd's topic in General Discussion
Yes. I know because I was tormented by demons since . . . longer than I can remember, literally. Bless the Lord I've been delivered! But yeah, it happens. I too believe that Satan is capable of anything as long as we keep giving him the tools to succeed! -
AN END-TIMES DECEPTION: INDIGO CHILDREN
susansduval replied to thunderbyrd's topic in General Discussion
I have gone to these sites and checked them out. Briefly. It also reminded me of a friend i have that has a child that is out of control. She has had him tested for ADD and the doctor says he doesn't have it. What I look at is the way this child has been brought up. He is 6 yrs old and his mom has been in and out of the drug world for years. His life and what he has seen ever since he was born has been awful to say the least. Who knows how any of these children have the same kind of upbringing or similar that this little boy has had. I am a fairly new believer and not really educated on the "Satan" aspects of Christianity. Having not yet read through the Bible all the way as yet so please bear with me. My take on this is something like this; Satan has entered us and caused us to sin. Adults and even teens get caught up in drugs, it causes us to let our children see, hear, and live the same Satan driven, drug abusing lives we are living. A childs personality is usually shaped by the time they are 5 yrs old. So when they are brought up in this their behavior reflects it. I realize that there are kids out there that have been brought up in a perfectly "normal" home that are out of control but I bet if we look at this further, they are few in comparison to ones who are from broken homes. Using this "Indigo Children" has everything to do with Satan. Like someone said, it's half truths. It gives Satan a way to give ourselves another excuse for falling away from the Bible and the "right way" to live our lives. I do believe he is hard at work on this one and using children goes to show us just how low he will go and what he is capable of! -

"In other words, if I don't meet on Saturday, then I'm really not saved. I don't love Jesus as much as you do apparently." I don't believe we are here to put each others religions down, are we? We are here to discuss and express our beliefs and opinions. I am not an SDA but I have attended the church many times. The church I went to never taught any such thing as what you said above. Quite the opposite. They believe all who accept Jesus as their savior will have eternal life, just as it states in the Bible. Also in their defense, they are some of the most kind, loving, and happy people I have ever met. They do teach and live by alot of "The Old Testament" from what I saw and heard. (that is their freedom) Please correct me if I'm wrong. I am simply stating what I have seen and heard while attending their church. They have beliefs that I thought later to be and little extreme (why I chose not to become a member) like not wearing jewelry and not watching tv but that's a whole other subject! We all have the freedom of religion here in this great country of ours, thats hugely what makes it so great. Being a new believer I have alot to learn and read, that is why I joined this board. I come here with questions and hope that through people like you and the scriptures I can learn to be a better Christian and do what's right in the eyes God. When I became a believer this was one of the most difficult discisions i had, Saturday or Sunday? I honestly still don't know! I thank God for his Grace because whatever anyone chooses we are in His Grace as long as we believe!

This subject has gotten a little heated here. I really don't believe there was anything I said to make you think I am trying to be a teacher, I'm sorry but that comment was uncalled for. I only know what I have read in the Bible. Anyone can be Baptized...it's what is truely in their heart that saves them.

AN END-TIMES DECEPTION: INDIGO CHILDREN
susansduval replied to thunderbyrd's topic in General Discussion
This is a short discription of what I found; What is an indigo Child? As a summary, here are the ten attributes that best describe this new kind of child, the Indigo Child (named by those who predicted it). They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it) They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that. Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are." They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice). They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them. They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought. They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system). They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially. They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did"). They are not shy in letting you know what they need. I am definatly going to look more into this. What is this world coming to? Just another scary idea someone came up with to excuse unruley children? I don't understand! -
Thank you all for your welcomes! I am glad i joined this board! As far as the Baptism goes I was saved a long time ago (well not that long! 6 months or so) anyway I don't believe Baptizm saves you, Baptism is something you do to bury your old life and come up new. I was Baptized as an infant too, yet never raised anywhere near a church. Never even started reading the Bible til I was 44 years old! I also believe that infants are born without sin therefore they need not be foregiven! It's when we get old enough to sin (whatever that age may be) that we make the the choice to live our lives in a Godly mannor. It is a conscience choice to change. My children have attended a Baptist Church since they were very small (my next door neighbor took them) and at their church you don't get Baptized until you are old enough to make the decision to follow God on your own (about 12 yr old). So I guess what I am saying is, it does not matter if we are Baptized, although the Bible strongly suggests, if we repent, ask for forgiveness, and accept the Lord as our Savior we will, in fact, be saved.
