  1. Carlin was more than an atheist, one who simply does not believe in God. Such a person may not even share his views, and live a decent life of service. He was an anti-theist, ridiculing Christianity and religion for fame and profit. And his cause. I pray anyone he may have influenced to turn from Christ comes back.
  2. I think the aspect of evolution that is hardest to accept requires millions of years of small changes (from earliest life to modern man). This crosses over from lab science into theoretical history. Just a thought.
  3. Didn't see a topic for this, so what the heck. Saw it yesterday. Pretty enjoyable visuals. Read it three years ago & forgot the entire story, so I didn't know what to expect in the film. A friend mentioned it was quite a departure from the book. "For Aslan" has almost become cliche in the film, especially when the bear says it... But it was fun.
  4. Ah. The similar topic in Apologetics>Science has spun off-topic, so I'll check here for on-topic movie info. I put off seeing it, and now Iron Man is out... and Narnia 2. Can't see all three.... Hmm.
  5. Good info. Thanks.
  6. In the gospels, he hangs himself. In Acts 2, he falls headlong in a field & his guts spill out (miracle? Otherwise, why?). I read somewhere it could be he fell from where he hung himself in a field, and fell so his guts flew out, so both could happen. Just wondering which is right & why this would differ. Thanks-
  7. I didn't know yesterday was the national day of prayer, but I did pray yesterday, as I do most days. "What a sad, sad truth. We truly do live in a World of NO Fear. The real question is Christian, what are "WE" doing to change this? The answer is... NOTHING!" As far as absolute statements & overgeneralizations, there are millions who may fear God in the U.S. Are there are millions who don't. I don't have any statistics, but I'm pretty sure a 0% wouldn't be in a survey. There are some working (and volunteering) quite hard to try to change people's hearts. To deny this would be to deny truth. Thanks.
  8. On the personal front, yeah- no income the past few months...
  9. Though I made only $7000 last year, most if it was untaxed, so I paid $500-ish in taxes. So, yeah, that check is much appreciated.

    John 15

Thanks. For the first part, I prayed & asked Jesus for my uncle to accept Him, and my uncle died. And didn't. Maybe he did and I didn't know it. There's always that chance. I'm not sure the second part is an error as much as a miscommunication. Just trying to figure out what this means. 18"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If a disciple was older than Jesus, wouldn't they have been hated before Jesus? ...I think I get it now. He's probably specifically talking about being hated for His words. Something deisciples will carry on & be hated for later.

    John 15

New T.- a chapter a day 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. I guess this has to be within reason, or can be given at a much later date. Or we might not know its been given to us. Even asking for something reasonable for self or a friend, such as recovery, with Christ's words in us (as much as possible) may or may not happen before they die. Asking for certain nonbelieving friends to come to Christ may never happen before they die. But asking that they consider the wisdom of Christ could. We should try at least. 18"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. I think Jesus arrived on earth after some of the disciples, so maybe He's referring to Himself as God, and that people have hated God. Thanks for any non-sarcastic insights.
  12. 22Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. Just curious if Jesus took over judging from God (previously judge) after he became an adult on earth. Thanks for any insights.
  13. Ah. That's right. I get it now. Thanks.
  14. 36He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37It is written: 'And he was numbered with the transgressors'; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment." Selling your cloak to buy a sword. Anyone know what this means? Apologies if this has come up before. Thanks.
  15. Thanks. Before buying the book, I found a video series at YT to find out the gist, and its an interesting theory. God may have affected the rate of time on the fourth day. And the rate of time may be different according to location in the universe. AiG seems more supportive of Humphry's theory than that of creation of stars w/light in-transit (which would have problems w/gravity). But I'm not a scientist, just a layperson with a keen interest.
  16. I watched a series of videos recently that claimed that YECs must deny gravity. That the speed of light from distant stars must have stayed constant the past 6000 years or our galaxy would've been ripped apart (attempting to refute that God put the light in motion from creation). I can ask CMI on this as well. Just wondering if this has been covered already and wanting to understand creation as much as possible. Thanks for any insight.
  17. Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. It's a forum of mostly professional animators, so there's a level of mutual respect there (many huge random forums may a lost cause). I'm comfortable enough to use my name there as well (in fact it helps since I know some people there offline). Just pointed out that one need not mock a person of faith, such as a Christian in a debate or speech. That we don't usually mock people offline we know to practice religion, such as family, friends, or those who help us. Also mentioned that a creationist isn't always how they're portayed by the media/YouTube (Newton, Kelvin, countless other intelligent folks over centuries that believe, but don't push others to). Alright, back to work. God bless-
  18. At my animation forum, Animation Nation, a topic popped up with a host of YouTube links to bitter Pat Condell & other atheists devoted to the end of religion (including Christianity). I guess I won't link there due to the YT links. A bit of a surprise. Not a common thing there. So far no one has supported religion. Wonder if I should put in a quiet word for Christianity. Something to pray over.
  19. Ah. Thanks. Good looking it over with you.
  20. 5But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. 6Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. 8Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: 9But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. Usually, with six or so people in my small group, we can figure things out most verses fairly well (we're going through the NT). So I'm here again- hope it's cool. Who's the being mentioned in v5 & why isn't it named? Why go from fear in v5 to no fear in v7? Why the focus on angels of God instead of God? God's more important than angels. A theory I have is God for v5. We should fear (respect) Him. Then the fear in v7 is a different Hebrew word which means scared (not respect). Except Him isn't in caps. I thought nothing could seperate us from the love of God (except if we choose so). No clue on the angels. Thanks for any insight. Hope your small groups, if you attend, go well also.
  21. That's some useful info for me. I hope to travel to Beijing for my first time fairly soon, and knowing they're the public toilet leader is good news for me. Squat or sit is fine with me, as long as they're around.
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong, but should this be moved to Controversial Topics or News? How do baggy pants fit in Doctrinal Questions? Isn't doctrine related to the Bible & Christian Church? Thanks.
  23. It is my understanding that the disciples didn't literally pick up poisonous snakes nor intentionally drink poison either. But if while ministering for the Lord a snake should bite one of His disciples then it would not kill them. A example of this was when Paul was shipwrecked in the book of Acts on an island and a snake had came out of the fire and latched onto his hand and Paul shook the snake off into the fire and kept doing what he was doing and the people that lived on the island thought him for dead but Paul wasn't bothered at all by the venimous snake so the people thought he was a god then. But the story shows how that while in the service of the Lord then nothing deadly can hurt us. And if someone wants to give us something poison to drink in order to get rid of us then faith in God and faithfulness to the Lord's work can prevent it from hurting us. But these verses are grossly misunderstood and interpreted. OC I think that wraps things up. Well, people are free to coment more if they want.

Not putting on a show of snake handling & any deadly thing (most likely the poisons of that time, not the hydrochloric acid or liquid nitrogen of the present (which couldn't be hidden in drink)).
