  1. I just saw this post and am sure by now the virus has either ran its course or was stopped in its tracks, but I had to read everyone's tips. Thanks everyone!! My daughter working in a public setting was starting to show the signs of a cold when her boss told her to start on Source Naturals Wellness Formula...It stopped it within two days! It is found in most natural food/herb stores. We have been using it every Winter since...starting at the first signs of a cold or sinus infection. Also found it and other health products online for quite a savings at vitacost.com. My Mother used fresh onion to make a cough syrup for us when we were children, and would have one near our beds at night so we could breathe the fumes. I can't remember if they worked or not, just that they opened up our sinuses and made our eyes water
  2. Of course I would have to put in my two cents being I was a baptized active JW for 13 years. They train their people not only what to say at doors of unbelievers but what to do in various situations ( actually do skits to act out different problems and how to handle things)..Their faith is not 'part of their lives, but is their lives...(they have meetings 4 nights a week not counting their home studies). So I really don't think that if you were to walk along side them that they would get into a brawl with you. Actually the majority are very sincere people who believe they are trying to help people avoid eternal destruction....as for working for their salvation, they have no promise or guarantee that they will be "remembered and called out to life on paradise earth". The only ones that do are those that believe they are of the 144,000 they are taught will go to heaven. So arguing with them or slamming doors won't win them to Christ neither will walking along side of them. The thing is they are deceived and are under a mind control...They need prayer first and far-most... then they need questions that will make them think on their own and maybe question their teachings. They are taught not to take anything (literature) from other faiths (or Christian-dumb) what they jokingly call Christendom. The Christian Avon lady that God sent to minister to me would ask me questions before she would leave and not wait for me to answer so I would think and have to research (example: if the Holy Spirit is just an active force that Jehovah uses why does scripture say not to " grieve him?"....she would always come prepared with a new question to leave me with and after much prayer. I could go on and on with things but won't. Just that there are many that the enemy has blinded the eyes of... pray for them, that the Lord will send the right person that will present the glorious Good News to them in a way that they will be able to see the truth about Jesus Christ the living Word.. "And the Word was God" John 1:1. love in Christ Treasured
  3. I received this some time ago and thought this was worth posting....the author of this commentary was listed as "unknown"... I'm just thankful so many of us "know" the author of the book he is commenting on This book reveals the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Here, too, heaven is opened and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will regard the greatest labor, and condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. Owned in riches; studied in wisdom; trusted in salvation; loved it is character; and obeyed it is power. author unknown
  4. As soon as I read your question I thought how both were of the two ends of the spectrum... Christ's sacrifice is for all mankind..He is no respector of persons. I have heard and read that they were not kings, but astronomers....but had seen a documentory on coin found with Gasper's name on it...showing he "was" a king. So guess it's one of those things that we will have the answer to "later"
  5. We normally have mini quakes in Yellowstone but had a years worth in a few days. "Now when these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near" Luke 21:28
  6. 1....Make up you mind to be happy..... Learn to find pleasure in little things. 2....Make the best of your circumstances...No one has everything, and everyone has something of sorrow intermingled with gladness of life. The trick is to make the laughter outweigh the tears. 3....Don't take yourself too seriously. Don't think that somehow you should be protected from misfortune that befalls other people. 4..... You can't please everyone. Don't let criticism worry you. 5....Don't let your neighbor set your standards. Be yourself. 6...Do the things you enjoy doing but stay out of debt. 7....Never borrow trouble.... Imaginary things are harder to dear than the real ones. 8....Since hate poisons the soul. do not cherish jealousy. Avoid people who make you unhappy. 9....Have many interests. If you can't travel, read about new places. 0...Don't hold postmortems...Don't spend your time brooding over sorrows or mistakes. Don't be one who never gets over things. 11....Do what you can for those less fortunate than yourself. 12....Keep busy at something...A busy never has time to be unhappy. And don't forget to be thankful! __________________________________

America, we marched with pride We gave our life, for you we died. How well we knew the time might come When life could sound the final drum. Please think of us as life moves on We tried so hard till that last dawn. Do let our spirit fill the land Pass treasured freedom, hand to hand God blessed this country with so much love Hold in your heart, abundance of. And when you stand before my grave Think not of one, but each who gave.
  10. This has helped me...maybe it will you as well: "In this you rejoice, even if now you have had had to suffer various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith--being more precious than gold that, though perishable, is tested by fire--may be found to resulting praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.... Although you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now you rejoice with joy inexpressable and full of glory....for you are receiving the outcome of your faith ---the salvation of your souls" 1Peter 1:6-9
  11. My greatest "Yeah...but" in my entire life was this: When we moved here I heard that Idonna, a close family friend of my Mother, was in the nursing facility just around the corner from our church. I thought about going to see her from time to time....but instead of putting it on my calender....I just put it off. The Christian churches here take turns going to the facility and having Sunday services.... which includes praise and worship for the residents. One Wednesday evening after our church's Sunday at the home ...one of the young men on our worship team stood up during prayer requests and asked prayer for a little lady at the home. Who just happened to be my Mother's friend...When he mentioned Idonna I felt the Lord speak to my heart to "go see her and tell her about Christ".. I was under such conviction...yet still heard myself say "Yeah, but Lord, she has had several strokes and the last I heard ..she doesn't remember anyone, if she can't remember people close to her how can she remember me?...I haven't seen her in years!"...So I didn't go....... Idonna died that next week! ... I told myself that... "My disobedience cost this person eternity in hell".....never would I let that happen again!! Now, here's something other than... 'obedience being better than sacrifice'... that I learned from this painful experience.. 'The Lord is faithful and true' I carried that guilt for five years.(I know the scripture "there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus"..but am human and tend not to give everything to the Lord as I should).. One Monday morning I was sharing this episode of my life with a group of people at a Bible study that my daughter's pastor leads every week.... He sat there and just stared at me for a few moments...I began to think "I bet he thinks I'm a terrible Christian!"...then he said .. "I lead Idonna to the Lord the very day before her death ..I know it was her because of her unusual name..... her mind was completely clear..in fact, she told me "I want Jesus " ...I haven't had many just tell me that" Needless to say I was crying and praising the Lord !!..Pastor Brian was in tears!...the group was in tears!!.....What mercy!!...What Faithfulness!!...What love!!! I now try and keep my "Yeah, but" in check!!.... and no more "Here I am Lord, send someone else"

  13. I use to wear cowboy boots most of my young life .... and go barefoot indoors....then got married and old (LOL)...and so said "goodbye" to my boots. ....Last year, after a torn Achilles tendon ,my Doctor recommended ....you guessed it..Cowboy boots to avoid surgery..the heel throws the weight forward and the boot supports the heel.. I forgot how good they always made my feet feel...so now Tweetybird's Granny is in boots
