Is it possible to live a life free of hypocrisy?
Rober H replied to David from New Bern's topic in General Discussion
People that say things like that are "pots calling the kettles black". It is an excues a ruse and a smokescreen. That kind of trash rationalization for remaining in an unsaved state won't cut it with a Holy God. They will stand or fall based on God's standards. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; They won't be able to say, "well I might have found you Lord but your church was filled with phony hypocrites". If they know that some people are phony and hypocritical then they have no excuse for remaining phony and hypocritical themselves. -
My sword of choice is the KJB and unless something drastic happens will always be the version I read and preach from. Jesus did not speak in King James English nor did he speak in "modern English" either. "It is not impossible that in the providence of God another universally accepted standard translation could be produced. However, given the lateness of the hour, the lack of spiritual scholarship, and the fact that our language no longer has the depth and vitality it once had, this seems most unlikely. All indications point to the KJV as the Bible God would have His people use in these last days before the Second Coming of Christ. God has preserved in the King James Version His original work of inspiration. The flower has not faded! The Sword is as sharp as in the day it was first whetted!" The Jehovah's Witness organization is a total mind control group with a another Christ, another spirit and another gospel. True religion is defined by the bible. I am not interested in any religion but in the doctrines of Christ and to be a member of the Church He built. James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. The church that Christ built is an organism not an organization. There is one church and many churches. Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The confession that Peter made that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of the Living God was the truth Christ built His church on. Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Some churches are apostate and do not have Christ as their head. All churches get rebuked. Read the epistles to the churches and the first three chapters of Revelation and you will see what I mean. Bottom line... the JW organization is a fasle prophet and not Christian.

Congratulations to you too! You are right Christ should be first and at the center of every marriage Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. God bless, Robert

Hi Robert, congratulations. We celebrated our 20th this month. But anyway I think Colossians 3:19 is important, be not bitter against them. I think that over a long period of time, bitterness is a great enemy. Because over that much time, things can add up, you have many many memories, some good some bad, but if you attach mentally to the bad, the root of bitterness over time can grow. So it

1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 1 Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. Genesis 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Good for you Ben! No one should fault someone for presenting the truth. Desiring someone to be saved and presenting the gospel is the highest calling we as Christians have. 1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 1 Corinthians 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 1 Corinthians 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

Good call. My family might get upset if they notice I don't, but would be more upset if I never showed up. It'd be nice if the family were less insisent I go. More respectful to ask then insist- I still have a few days to decide. My roomates are devoted Christians w/good insight as well. Thanks again for the latest posts. Glad people aren't letting the sun go down on their anger here as well. Christians have been attending secular and non secular events for years. Honoring your grandfather isn't necessarily condoning his beliefs. It is your call if you go or not. I have attended non-Christian weddings etc. and my conscience is clear. Whatever you decide you are in my prayers and on my heart. I have struggled with these types of things for years. Here are some verses that might help. Paul lays out some guidelines for eating with non-believers. You don't strike me as one that is "weak in the faith". 1 Corinthians 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. 1 Corinthians 8:5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 Corinthians 8:7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. 1 Corinthians 8:8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. 1 Corinthians 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak. I wouldn't make to big a deal out of it if you go. Just don't let people that you think are weak at the faith get to much information. I can really relate to what you are going through. God bless, Robert

Thanks for the blessings and may God bless you all in your marriages! Yours in Christ, Robert

The bottom line is that the Masons do not promote Christian doctrine or the God of the bible. The fact that they do good works has been acknowledged and noted. There are many Christians who do good works too. I am sure the Mason's have a few scoundrels in their midst too. All these words about the fact that there are dishonest Christians is a smoke screen. Christ is the standard not men. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Thanks Jamie and NikNak! I appreciate it! I believe one of the keys is to put the other person above ourselves and to put Christ first. Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Of course... it is always easy to stay with someone you love and respect. My wife is an easy person to love and I have an immense amount of respect for her.

Thank you!

If there is unrepentant sin in the heart of a believer he will suffer loss at the judgement seat. 1 Corinthians 3:13-15 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. God has already forgiven the believer for their sins as they are covered by the blood of Christ. That does in no way mean that we will not suffer loss of reward for unrepentant sin. 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. All sin is forgiven but all unconfessed sin will be answered for. 1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

I think marriages would last if we would remember how we are to love our wives. Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Christ gave up everything for the church. He laid down His life for it. If we strive for that type of love we will please God as well as nurture and care for our wives.

Tah, Thanks! Congrats to you as well! I hit the wrong reply button. I meant to quote you not repeat my post. Being married hasn't made me any less of a goof...

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 37 years today. I am in a very good mood... Proverbs 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD. I hope God will bless those of you who are married and give you the joy and contentment he has given us. The divorce rate is so high today. It makes me sad. How do you guys feel about it? What makes a marriage last and what makes it fail? Matthew 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Sunshine, Support your position from the scriptures if you can. Why do you assume that we have "never studied other beliefs"? Your posts are a lot of words without scriptural backing. Galatians 1:6-9 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. The Mason's have another gospel so do the Mormons. Their are lots of people in the world that do charitable works. Comparing men with men some may appear to do more than others. However without Christ they have one big problem. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Matthew 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Note: Jesus isn't saying He isn't good He is asking the person "why do you call me good?" Romans 3:10-12 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. If you don't agree with Christian "dogma" you better be able to defend your own....

"Too heavenly minded to be any earthly good"
Rober H replied to David from New Bern's topic in General Discussion
I agree probably with your practical goal in your post, but you are incorrect in saying heaven is not our home. We are repeatedly told we are aliens, strangers, pilgrims here. We are told to keep our eyes on the finish line. We are told to be motivated for the rewards of heaven. We are told the test of the genuineness of our faith is a desire to join Him in what He has prepared for us. We are told to be watchful and alert for the second coming. We are told to store our treasures in heaven and not here.....etc...etc...etc... But I agree, our faith is not an elementary "pie in the sky" mentality. We are "saved unto good works". We need to be busy and look forward to the big party but not stall. No, Heaven isn't our home at all. It's a temporary holding place that will eventually pass away someday. Instead, we will return to this earth (albiet new and improved, rescued from the effects of the fall) which will be our eternal home. The point that is being made is that we focus so much on "heavenly" things when "heavenly" things are not our priority and will not last forever either. Our purpose in being saved is not to achieve Heaven but instead to glorify God in all of our actions. Exactly. The New Earth will be our home. As I stated in the other topic, the reason we are "pilgrims" or "aliens" in this life is not because the earth will never be our home, it's because it isn't currently our home (as it exists now). We long for it to be restored, for the place Jesus is preparing for us (which we are told in Revelation 21 is the New Earth). The problem with some modern theology about heaven is that it has gnostic implications. We aren't waiting to be delivered from the earth, we are waiting for deliverance on it. In Isaiah (where much of the references to the New Earth are found), there is a verse that talks about the earth giving birth to her dead (i think it's 29:19). It's referring to our bodily resurrection, just before everything is renewed. Isaiah 65:17-25 thoroughly discusses the establishment of the New Earth as the setting for God's Kingdom. The entire unfolding of God's redemptive plan focuses on the ultimate establishment of God's reign on Earth, forever and ever (Isaiah 60:21). We certainly look forward to a New Heaven's and New Earth(2 Peter 3) and we know that the righteous shall dwell there but this isn't the point. We want God's "will to be done on earth as it is (presently in heaven)" In my opinion (only my opinion) I don't think this thread should get side tracked into a theological debate. Philippians 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: Matthew 6:20-22 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. Luke 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. Colossians 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Revelation 11:11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. Revelation 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. The discussion is can some people being so "heavenly minded" that they are no "earthly good". Again in my opinion... that is where the topic should remain. In His word, Robert -
We can judge an organization by it's doctrine. If it's doctrine does not stand the test of God's word that groups teachings should be rejcted. Using Sunshines criterion any group that does any good is "godly". Mormons, Buddhists, and even the KKK has done some good works. Thank God we have His Holy Word as the criterion for truth and not the philosophy of the world as our measuring rod. 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
-
Pointing out doctrinal error and naming false teachers and teachings has nothing to do with "success"or failure. Success at what? Is being successful at fleecing the flock and spreading false teachings true"success". What about Christ's words? Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. If worldly success were God's criterion for truth then we should all find the richest, biggest, and most powerful church and join it. No thanks. Robert

Greetings dakota 190, TBN is full of wolves and compromised men who should know better than to support this network in anyway. The audience of TBN is so large that men who know the truth keep silent so they can sell their books, tapes and DVD's and get huge donations to build their mega church empires. They want to put those of us who love sound doctrine in a bad light. They don't want the "gravy train" to end. 2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 2 Peter 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. Paul warned the elders at Ephesus that it would not be long before these types would show up. Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Acts 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Acts 20:30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Some people ask..."should we spend our time looking at the negative instead of just loving one another?" I wonder what type of love keeps silent while our churches rot from within? Paul couldn't stop weaping or crying about what was coming. Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
