Well, I can agree on the ones that quote the entire post of the first post on the thread, and then all the person doing that says is something less than or up to only one sentence, give or take a little. It makes for a heck of a long post. I try only to do it, as was said so before, when I have something to say to nearly every part of the post. Sometimes I"ve quoted a person when I'm the first to respond, just so it'll be clear to whom I'm speaking/responding. Sometimes it happens that people post at the same time and dont even notice it, so then it gets confusing too.

What has God done for you today?
heartofstone replied to RedeemedByHim's topic in General Discussion
Isn't there at least one verse in the Bible somewhere that reminds people under stress to praise God even when they are in despair and asking for help? (I'm never so good at remembering more than ideas or messages from Scripture). -

Heh, so true about Jesus. Heh, and Nebula always has, so far as I've seen , put her words out carefully and nicely. -
If I may say so, excellent post, Floatingaxe! It covers it well. And points out how we make excuses to not to develop our relationships with God, because we have other focuses in life, or are too tired to devote our energies to the study of His word and to prayer.

Yeah, it is true, it can't hurt really and doesnt take away from the time we have to do the same for others less fortunate. Nice post, way to put it Nebula. -

She is a "role model" to many young girls out there, perhaps to children of people who frequent these boards. It's good to have an answer to their questions or to be able to discuss the issue with those kids form the Christian point of view. This young woman needs our prayers more than anything else and it's good to see she has not been ridiculed here at this forum. She's a lost soul in need of Jesus. She could be any one of our daughters; would we recognize there was a problem if we saw it? Or would we simply turn our backs and chock it up to a youthful indiscretion? It's good to take a lesson from a life that once held so much promise, and perhaps will again with the Lord's intervention. Ok. -
Why? Because if we say that one of God's attributes is more prominent than others, or that God suspends one attribute to exercise another, or that any of God's actions are not conditioned by all of His attributes, we are not portraying God as He really is. We are misrepresenting God to people Right. Because it's then that we're putting God into human terms, when we raise one attribute or ability of His over another, and even in assuming that one must be suspended to accomplish another? Good post. I strangely don't fear it anymore. In fact, it gives me confidence and a hope because I know that there is a God out there who is Just and Holy and Perfect and Wonderful. Sure, He will actually judge people in the end, taking seriously that role as He's been patient enough with us anyway for millennia, but He's also loving and forgiving. So, it's not the kind of taciturn nature you might find with any people here on earth. God's ways and judgments are perfect. I am glad of that.

I'm really not saying this to be a nuisance, but seriously: I just don't get it. What's the big deal? So, she cut her hair off. So, what? The Media makes America like one big high school drama. I just don't get it. -
I think that this is another first for me, in reading your guys' posts here, and seeing discussion on how the Israelites must have known exactly what they were doing when they requested that Aaron make the calf for them. Heh, I guess that's also good reason for one to go back and study the culture of the times, and any other information on that ancient history one can get, helps with understanding the significance of the Scriptures better. I had thought that just maybe they happened to ask for the calf perhaps because they had been in Egypt at a time when the calf was popular worship or for some unrelated to purpose kind of reason, it just came to their minds. It's amazing as everyone has said that they deliberately chose this calf in direct obedience to God. I mean, it's one thing to blaspheme against Him with worshiping someone else or saying something very bad, but it's another to purposefully choose a method of defiance and disobedience directed at Him that has more meaning, such as that calf. I guess it may not be a big deal to some, but as others have said, it was daring! not to mention evil, but down right bold of them. It's kind of difficult to understand what kind of mind-set they were stuck in, to choose to defy the God who had just delivered them all from captivity like that, as if He had done them any wrong. I guess it's like the insults from abusive spouses or enemies that are chosen specifically because they hit a certain target that the one throwing them out intended for the insults to do, or just because they know it hurts (which is the same). Sorry for more rambling, it's just yet another very interesting aspect of the Bible to come to see.

I'm not saying that the whole history of Eygyptology is flawed but I tend to look at it differently now. No doubt there IS truth in what they have discovered but like I said before some info giving credit to the Bible is withheld. As for those gross "trends" with the Egyptian mummies. in Victorian times..would you really want to drink ground mummy skin in your cup of tea?? And when they got sick or died, they blamed it on Pharaohs "curse.".... Right, so I guess it could be hidden. Probably never will be revealed. I still would like to know which Pharaoh it was, would be cool. Heh, true, so gross about the ways they used those bodies. Man, whoever started up the idea that they could be potent for anything was either just a loon, or a brilliant capitalist, or businessman...just another person out looking for a quick buck... *finds a mummy, thinks for a moment, maybe of taking it to a museum or collector, then"hmm, I know an even better way to make use of this!, starts babbling about its ancient powers, etc* I'm a dork.

It IS thought provoking and once again with the erasing of previous Pharaohs names, once again, that is what we have been TOLD....When the names and tombs were dessicrated, we are told it was done in antiquity..Will we ever know for sure? I have read by some modern archeologists, that the actual time line of the Egyptian Kings could in fact be in error. And with the names..many Kings in Egypt had multiple names, so in regards to the Pharoah in Exodus, his name could quite possibly be recorded in Ancient Egyptian text by another of the Kings names. When you had WOMEN who ruled as Pharaohs and actually were carved as wearing the royal plaited beard, all is not as straight forward as "they" would have us believe...... Because of the confusion with the Pharaohnic time line, I have read it could be Achenaten as the Pharaoh in Exodus...funny his tomb and mummy has never been found.... Well, the possibility that other history has also been fabricated, by those who teach it, has come up before, so it's not too hard to believe what you're saying as something that may also be possible. I think there's something too about how textbooks are written...once, I heard that the U.S. government wouldn't allow this one film to be released in the U.S., I think that was how it happened, until it had been censored or at least approved for its content. And, it was odd because most people probably wouldn't think of our country having issues with censorship of the media or free press, not to that degree, right? err, at least no one talks about the government doing it, I believe. Anyway, it could make sense, if you twist it around and think that perhaps they invented that habit of the pharoahs in order to explain the gaps in Egyptian history: maybe it was stuff that was really missing? or they were holding information back. It would be interesting. Yeah, that's history as I have read about it and have been taught, somewhat. I dont think that I've ever come across any book or website (never a professor though, don't know people really educated in it or in the field! ) about coverups in even the line of the kings. Heh, they'd probably just say it was a mistake anyway. Another time though that they mentioned for the destruction of some sites was the time when amateur archeaology was popular with some eighteenth or nineteenth century Europeans and Americans... story about using mummies for face creams even, I think that was one of the grosser stories.

I used to love ancient Egyptian history, ever since I was a kid. Interest has died down somewhat since then, but it's still a fascinating place, especially, as was mentioned earlier, in thinking about Moses and Joseph.

Heh, so many seem to pop up out of nowhere, claiming to be the Anti-christ. Too bad that he's actually deceived those people. makes me wonder how it happens really, why they believe the crazy things he's said.

From when I was reading that entire passage/chapter on Saul when he was annointed King, actually from just before that I think, to his end, I kind of got the sense that God was just giving Saul another chance to turn from his ways.

It doesn't clearly say in the Bible what happens to suicides, so there isn't sufficient evidence to support the conclusion that one would go to hell just because it's "self-murder" by some definitions. Maybe to some it's just another form of escapism.

Perhaps I am misinterpreting the aim of this post, and maybe it is for everyone to read and learn from, but I don't understand how you can say this as if the people you're talking to don't actually understand that they really are who they are in the heart, as in to say that there aren't that many people out there who are fooled into believing that just because they put out the good behavior that they don't know who they are inside. It's insulting. If you were to spy on someone to find out what they were really thinking when they were putting on a good appearance, then it wouldn't make you any better of a person for being able to point out to that person just how bad he or she really is for what is held back, right? It's just as dumb as spying on someone's counseling session, or a private conversation between friends, with the one doing the spying thinking he's all great and clever for getting this private information from the person and for pulling out these deep dark things to prove that the person isn't so great afterall. It's as dumb as those who try to get into conversations with people that they suspect are doing wrong, or who may be innocent of wrong (as in thoughts or attitudes) and then thinking they're so clever for either betraying that person's trust or just in having the attitude that they're smart enough to trick that person into saying too much, when in fact the person they're talking to isn't fooled at all (most people wouldn't be). It's like trying to talk to a traitor within an organization and just hoping that he'll confess to his crimes, as if he isn't smart enough to keep all that to himself and know what to say to the person who wants to hear something bad. Most evil people don't need to be talked to in this way in order to get the point across that they're really evil inside, they know they're trying to fool you and if they are smart enough, which most really are, then they aren't duped by their own machinations. They still know that they're not as sweet and innocent as they come across, and they know how to change their image or people's perception of them easily enough. Some of you can try your best to pick out the ones whom you think deserve punishment and rejection, but the truth is that most of you are so blind and hard-headed enough that you'll never truly ever see the ones who'll do you the most harm, who are the most evil. (I know I've had my own experiences both ways, with trusting the wrong ones, etc but some people are just too inclined to just hurt the harmless ones, they don't know what they're missing, or damaging). Those kind won't ever give themselves away as easily. So, when "you" (generally speaking) do wrong to other people, don't ever expect that you'll be ok and safe from judgment. You can't repay evil with evil and yet still not be the one charged just because the evil you're repaying is made to be greater than anything you'll ever do or are doing to it. I don't care if that makes no sense to people here. It reminds me of the situation wherein one group can ostracize one person or another group, hate them and berate them, and then if the group that is victimized retaliates with the same anger and hatred, suddenly it's the first group that all of the sudden becomes wiser and the "bigger man" type, and criticizes that second group for being stupid and weak enough to use the tactics it once suffered from against its former oppressors, and suddenly it's true for the bullies? that hate doesn't work against hate. Don't like their tactics being used against them? Throw it in the face of the former victims then and try to pretend to be the wiser ones.

Interesting article. That's the first time that I've read about the moon changing colors, so I think. I can't wait to see this. I haven't even checked yet with my school to see if there'll be any telescopes around though... Must get a move on with that though.

What do you mean here--that you have read that God doesn't heal? How would it be detrimental to the body over the damage that disease would do? Try being more picky in the literature you choose to read, dear. Jesus is willing to heal. We don't know why sometimes that we don't always have our healings, but that is another thread. Jesus is always willing to heal. I guess I wasn't entirely clear in what I typed. The book said that the healing comes slowly, not quickly, and I couldn't remember exactly the reason for this but thought it might have been that the author said that it's harder on the body to have such damage to it erased or reversed rather quickly. Though, if that is the case, I can't remember if it said that it's always that way, that healing has to take so much time. The book was recommended to me, so I thought I'd give it a try. I may just be severely misrepresenting it anyway; it's been a while since I read it.

Christians are so scared of the word "demon".. I wonder who feed them that fear?? It would be funny if it wasn't so true.. You might want to get a book by Kimberly Daniels, "Clean House Strong House". You know our deliverance is a process just like the Lord told Joshua that he would drive out the all the "ites" in the land before them. Not all at once for the land would be come a wastland. That would be like us, Our deliverance is based on replacing the old ways with new ways. Putting off our childish behaviors and self opinions in exchange for Christlikeness.. Thanks for the advice on the book reading. I dont really yet trust what they put on television though. Although, I have also read from another book too that God doesnt allow supernatural healing always, something about how that would be too much for the body to go through, I think.

Treat other as you want to be treated?
heartofstone replied to Observer of dreams's topic in The Universal Moral Law
Treat others as you would want to be treated: imo, don't show them any disrespect, in whatever form that amounts to for them respectively. -
That is what most Christians believe. What we don't take into consideration is man is a three part being... 1.) spirit-which the Holy Spirit comes and reside in when we accept Jesus as Lord. The Holy Spirit then leads us in our sanctification process. Which is a process of elimination, get rid of the occupiers. 2.) mind will and emotions-this is what they manipulate and cause to manifest their kingdom. 3.) body-when the person quits/refuses to move forward in their sanctification they will be opening doors for the spirits of infirmity. These will take a believer to an early death. Right now we are in a purging process.. In doing deliverance I have ministered to Spirit filled Christians and cast out a dozen or more at any given time. Any manifestation (action, thought) that does not represent the Kingdom of Jesus is manifesting the other.. Simple, it is still choice. We are to take captive every thought to the knowledge of Christ.. That is not a suggestion. The door points for demons are #1 SIN. unrepented sin will keep them. #2 Unforgiveness.. tormenting demons come in. #3 generational #4 traumas (all the way from childhood) #5 offenses... there is more. Just having made a one time confession of faith does not complete the job. It is a process.. for life. What I've read in only a few years has led me to believe that it is easy in fact for a spirit to take over, influence or even cause illness in a person on the basis of a sin alone. But what I've been told by other people who said they were Christians is that a person who is saved cannot have these things happen to him any longer, so now I"m surprised that you say that people can still have these problems. It does make sense though, since the purging couldnt happen all at once if the person isnt even aware of what sins in his life have brought the illness and other issues upon him. I mean, it would also be fair to accept your logic because I've also read or been told that Jesus also doesn't expect or necessarily like to have believers always asking Him to deliver them of these problems when His death and resurrection and their belief in Him has given them the authority to cast those demons out themselves....so, it would then make enough sense to follow your argument in saying that deliverance can be a process. I appreciate that one more.

Heh, right to question the part about the sun. Since it didnt come about til day four, then how is it that the creation took only a week? And, why did God even have to rest if He's God? Have wondered at that too. Makes it easier to believe that the distinction was simply made for our benefit, since we live on a planet with days divided by 24 hours and we think in finite terms anyway. If it weren't for scientists of our day, and the modern conveniences that we have this day (to make our lives much easier), would it even be possible for us to think in terms of millions of years? probably not. In that case, our individual lives are begun and over with in the blink of an eye, by comparison. And what about the dinosaurs?
