Here is information I have found on the "sign of the cross": Origins of the sign of the cross The Christian custom of gesturing the sign of the cross was originally with the right hand's thumb only and across the forehead only. (St. John Chrys., Hom. ad pop. Antioch. xi; St. Jerome, Ep. ad Eustochium.) The custom originated during the second century. Vestiges of this earliest gesture still exist when Catholics sign a cross on their forehead to hear the Gospels during mass, when their foreheads are marked with ash on Ash Wednesday, when applying the holy oil (called chrism) on the forehead for the sacrament of Confirmation, and so on. Around year 200 in Carthage (modern Tunisia, Africa), Tertullian says: "We Christians wear out our foreheads with the sign of the cross" (Latin: "Frontem crucis signaculo terimus") (De Cor. mil. 3). The second century Christians signed the cross on their forehead before taking any risk, such as embarking on a journey, and so on. Ravenna mosaic, 6th c.: Jesus is portrayed gesturing a sign of the cross like a Christian priest with his right hand facing outward, at the position of et FiliiTertullian points out that the sign of the cross is not commanded in any Holy Scripture. It is only from Christian cultural tradition. A search for a scriptual prooftext for the sign of the cross has required loose interpretations. For examples: "Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark [of ash?] on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable [idolatries] that are done in it" (Ezekiel 9:4). "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal [with holy oil?] on the foreheads of the servants of our God." (Revelation 7:3). And so on. Of course, none of these biblical prooftexts prescribe a motion of a cross, but their location on the forehead probably informed the early Christian custom. A lot of very good questions! I don't think I waste my time here. You guys make me think. I used to be a Christian. Now that I am no longer, I have to test my new philosophies. Against what? Against the old. Christianity is very complex, which is why there are different denominations, different interpretaions and so much church history. If I just write it all off and say "Fairy Tales" then I'm being as mentally lazy as anyone who says "God did it" Even as an atheist there are issues to be considered. The concept of Evil, for example. In a system outside of God does it exist? And how do I define it or identify it? Spending time here with you all helps me clarify these things. You are right that it is illogical to be angry at something that doesn't exist. But the definitions of God, his description, as laid out in the bible, exist. Those concepts and definitions annoy me. Perhaps I am angry because I feel I had put a lot of effort and emotion into smoke and mirrors. Like when Dorothy and the others find that the Wizard of Oz is just a man behind a curtain. There is only ONE CHURCH, that has Jesus Christ as it's head, not some man or organization. Having tried a number of 'churches' it was found each of them differ on doctrine, teach different things and have varying interpretations of Scripture As mentoioned by another, after 20 years and quite a number of 'churches' this writer now gets ministry from fellowship with a few brethren of like mind, the Bible and dependence on GOD'S Spirit Considering the number of instructions in the Bible for GOD's children to be like-minded, having ONE FAITH, ONE LORD and SAVIOUR, it is very difficult to see why we have over 2,000 denominations, all claiming to represent CHRIST, but never able to agree on the WORD Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Where did He even come close to saying this? The problem with the "health wealth" teaching, or prosperity teaching, is that it is human centered. God wants to bless us. We can request of God what we want and He will give it to us. This, of course, is the antithesis of the God we read about in scripture. In Scripture we see a God who operates for His own benefit and rightfully so. As Christians we are only promised a renewal of life towards God and persecution...neither one of these brings about wealth or good health. In fact, more often than not, it requires that we render up our lives and die, suffer, and take on poverty in following God. Memory and age doth hinder me. Yes, that comment I made is not a quote, but, let us call it a summation of many positive Scriptures regarding our health; as far as the financial side of things, GOD too is our provider, in all things, isn't HE? The first Scripture in this context is "for I AM the LORD that healeth thee" Ex.15:26; thus, possibly presumptuously, one deduces GOD wants His children to be well Ps 103:3 "Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, Who healeth all thy diseases"; "but the tongue of the wise is health" Prov.12:18, possibly this has something to do with our confession, which is our expression of FAITH in things unseen Jer.30:17 "For I will restore health unto thee, and Iwill heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD, etc..." There are many evidences of GOD healing His children, through both testaments, and thus one again presumes that the LORD would have us to be in good health The Lord Jesus healed a lot of people. Was that for His own glory or to demonstrate the will of GOD? Mat.10:8; We need remember the children of the wicked one can duplicate gifts of healing, Mat.7:22; Acts 19:11-12 show GOD healing His people, but we find the sons of Sceva attempting to duplicate the gift operating through Paul Healing is an intrinsic part of Christ's victory over hell and death, all we need is the FAITH to operate the gift Witch doctors can do it, black magicians can do it, why is it so few Christians believe in it?

I'm pressed for Time, also please re-read Sodom and Gomorrah, where the God of the Earth has the God of Heaven rain down fire and brimstone and also in Revelation the worship is always done in three, Holy, Holy, Holy, defining the worship of the trinity in Heaven. Vs.24 of Gen.19 "Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven" Does this imply there are two LORDS? Which one is GOD? I don't see any reference to the GOD of the heaven getting the GOD of the earth to do any such thing and if that is as you suggest, brother, then we are heathens with TWO GODS Could you please provide Scriptural references to support your statement As for the worship being done in threes , "Holy, Holy, Holy" implying trinity worship, might we then consider Peter suggesting the building of three 'booths' also a testimony of a trinity? I don't disagree with scripture ever..only man. _________________________________________________________________________ Hi Jackie, If the Antichrist puts his mark on all those who follow him and killes all those who do not recieve his mark, and Jesus Christ sends to eternal Hell, all those who have recieved and accepted the Antichrists mark, then where do the multitudes come from who go on into the millennium as these Ccriptures plainly state. Now I am ot interperpreting this, I am quoting the exact Scriptures what say this. Here they are again: The Bible speaks of many peoples of all nations that are left after the reign of the Antichrist, people who will be alive in the Millennium and will go up yearly to worship God (Zech. 14:16-21). This limits the kingdom of the Antichrist to only part of the world and also limits his ability to kill everyone who does not take the mark even in his own empire. According to Rev. 14:9-11 no one who has taken the mark will go into the Millennium, but will be sent to eternal Hell. That multitudes go into the Millennium proves they have not taken the mark of the beast and have not been killed, as is taught by many Bible students. If Antichrist kills every person on Earth who does not take his mark and the Lord sends to eternal Hell everyone who does take his mark, then there would be no one left alive to enter the Millennium. He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. An AntiChrist is an athiest or somebody who worships idols. There is no one central AntiChrist. The world right now is filled with millions of AntiChrists, they are the ones who deny Christ came in the flesh. People are trying to put things together that weren't meant to. The Beast is a government. Beasts described in Daniel and Revelations have been governments. This Beast has been around since the Dark Ages. The bible describes who these people are. I read where many, many people have thier ideas on who they "think" the Beast, AntiChrist, and Son Of Perditon are but very little scriptural proof. Read and study your bibles. Grab a concordence and look up all the scriptures that have those words in them and you can figure it out for yourself. It is surprising to find the BEAST being described as any other than the anti-Christ The reasons put forward do not make a lot of logical connections, as we see the BEAST is WORSHIPPED, "And they WORSHIPPED THE DRAGON, who gave power unto the BEAST; and they WORSHIPPED the BEAST, saying 'who is like the BEAST, who is able to make war with him" Rev13:4 As it is understood, anyone who wants to be WORSHIPPED, INSTEAD of GOD, is anti-Christ, aren't they? And who is it worshipping him? Heathens? No, it is religious people who are deceived by the false prophets, the wicked one Wasn't that the problem in the beginning, that Lucifer wanted to be worshipped instead of GOD? We have some very interesting responses to the concept of a trinity of gods who make up the ONE TRUE GOD, yet we have no Scripture to prove GOD is more than one, that His Son is not solely the manifestation of the One GOD in physical form, en-morphe Jesus said He and His Father are ONE not three Jn.10:30 GOD is SPIRIT, Jn.4:24; so the Holy Spirit is purely another description of GOD, not another god, and Jesus, the man, was not GOD, He was, according to Scripture, the last Adam,1 Cor.15:45 in Whom dwelt the SPIRIT of GOD, Col.2:9; from the time of His baptism 'til His time of suffering in the garden of Gesthemane, when the Spirit of GOD left Him Mat.27:46 Another thought is that "for in Him dwelth all the FULLNESS of the GODHEAD bodily" Col.2:9; not a third ness Jesus, the Man, had a GOD; He PRECEEDED FORTH and CAME from GOD, Jn.8:42, it does not say GOD came, at least not 'til GOD descended upon, and into Him when He was baptized, Mat.3:16 Jesus Christ, the MAN, the last Adam was the tabernacle, the temple, the BODY, GOD, SPIRIT, Jn.2:21; 1 Cor.6:19; Heb.10:5; indwelt for just over three years, otherwise Jesus could not have died, as GOD is eternal, HE cannot die Jesus came, "in my Father's name" Jn.5:43, bearing His Father's authority, but, where is the evidence, in SCRIPTURE, not interpretation, which proves trinitarian doctrine? I absolutely agree that Adam knew he was disobedient .. I had never considered that Adam who walked with God from the beginning would have had such and evil evil heart he would choose to plunge all mankind after him into such deprivation....knowing the whole of the consequences .... I don't feel so good......I never thought of this before...oh my gosh... Is this true... I know that I am capable of such but for some reason I never considered Adam to be as evil as man is now... Huummmmm I have had to learn by experience that there were consequences and in learning found out the fullness of the consequences.. Did you ever tell a kid to not do something? Like they're climbing on the table and you say "Stop, you're going to hurt yourself" but you don't stop them, and then they get hurt. Well it's the same thing. Are kids evil? Well, no, they just didn't know what would happen, but after hurting themselves they're probably not going to do the same thing again (ok well sure they'll probably do it again unless they got hurt really really bad, but it wouldn't be for a while.) Adam didn't know what would happen, god said he would die but how could Adam know what that would be like? How would Adam know he's going to ruin things for humanity? Yes, Scripture shows Adam was NOT deceived, he sinned wilfully, knowing, that by his disobedience he was bringing death upon Eve, himself and all their descendants What we need remember though is Adam knew, unless he partook of the forbidden fruit, God would kill Eve, for her disobedience The only way he could prevent this was to accept her sin on himself, become an intercessor, because she was a part of him, and he loved her.
