  1. Get yourself a badge...almost instant authority. Of course, many people will instantly lose respect for you ... hehe
  2. I am sure that this "news" piece was very unbiased as it was brought to us by the lib media and "Planet Green." This isn't a terrorist attack, or God's judgement on America, and oil execs are not trying to kill us all...or any other hysterical fear tactic you can think of. It was an accident, a horrible tragedy in which people died. Sometimes I get the feeling that people get happily excited when these tragic accidents happen because it gives them a platform to push their agendas.
  3. Why don't they just use a huge sponge to soak up all the water thats getting in the way of their efforts to get us our oil? Stupid water is probably diluting the oil and making it worthless.
  4. How is Dick Cheney "less than brilliant?" His entire life has been one of incredible accomplishment. I get your point, but he should have been left off of your list.
  5. What is all this confusion about terms like "debt" and "charge"...etc? It doesn't matter because there are NO state laws that prohibit businesses from establishing no-cash policies. No-cash policies are everywhere for various reasons...they are not even remotely illegal. Businesses in the US are required to take US Dollars...but they are not held to any law that says they must be in the form of paper, or coin. Go ahead and start paying all your bills with "legal tender" pennies and you'll find out real quick how many places can absolutely legally reject that form of payment...even for paying a debt.
  6. Apple will now accept cash...as long as you set up your Apple account at the store at the time of transaction. With that settled...law requires US businesses to accept 'dollars' not necessarily in the form of cash.
  7. Remember when accidents used to happen...and people just dealt with it without trying to financially and politically lynch somebody. "Never let a good crisis go to waste" should be our new national motto...
  8. The problem is...if we don't see eye to eye on this passage, the rest really don't matter. Everything in both camps rests predominantly on the understanding of Daniel 9. Personally I take a futurists view and build scriptural evidence from that base. You take a historicist view of Daniel 9 and build from that base. It is highly unlikely we will ever agree on this topic as you don't view the separation of the weeks the same way I do. For the record I did read your long post in reply. We are clearly not reading, or studying it, the same way.
  9. The foundation of the 7-year Trib is built on an understanding of the prophecy of Daniel 9. Depending on how you square that prophecy in your beliefs...it sets the stage for your beliefs in regards to everything else regarding the tribulation. Daniel 9:24-27 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. I am a dispensational pre-millennialists...a futurist...based on my understanding of this scripture.
  10. What!?!?! Bush...first 2 years: 1). $1.6 Trillion Tax Cut
  11. Like I said...he wasn't extreme conservative. But just because he did some things that were not hardcore conservative (i.e. spending) doesn't make him progressive or liberal. That would be like saying Obama is not a liberal because he allowed off-shore drilling and continues the war in Afghanistan. Bush has a long line and history of core conservative values that he brought to the White House, and he repeatedly acted on those principles...the fact that he made a couple of decisions that were outside of the conservative box shouldn't undermine his entire reputation as a good conservative President. I'm glad we both agree that Bush was a far cry better than what we have now...
  12. Of course GW Bush was a conservative. Just because he wasn't an extremist like some wish he was, doesn't mean he wasn't a good conservative President that upheld good conservative values. I also respect his wife, Laura Bush, for understanding that she wasn't an elected official and didn't use her position as GW's wife to further her own opinions on social issues, and undermine his authority.
  13. I hear what you are saying. They always threaten to cut education and public saftey first...its a form of blackmail. They are trying to force a tax increase on our state by dangling the threat of cuts in education in our faces too. "If you don't vote for the tax increase teachers will lose jobs and kids will suffer..." blah, blah, blah. The truth is, school districts hire so many non-essential people that have absolutely zilch with educating our kids. I am always surprised at the number of personel in the office of my children's schools. How come the secretary, of the secretary of the Principal isn't being dangled out there, instead of a teacher? Blackmail...plain and simple. My point is that we spend more on education now than we did 10 years ago...and the quality hasn't gone up. The schools aren't using the extra money to teach any better...they are using it to promote social programming. Our schools budget is $7000 per student...they spend a little over half of that on actual instruction. The rest is divided between Administration, services, and "other." Whenever they talk about cutting education spending how come we never hear about the cost of "other" or admin being cut...no, they throw the teachers under the bus.
  14. I don't think that wearing a depiction of the US flag on clothing is bad. I think the Flag Code is referring to sewing or incorporating an actual flag into clothing. Also, considering that the mexican students deemed the depiction of the American flag, and red, white, and blue color schemes as insulting...I'm not too certain that I'm going to take their word on what they would consider the insults they alledgedly heard. They would consider any pro-American talk offensive or insulting. they probably complained that the boys were speaking english too....
  15. I'm not certain thats the case. I think we spend more on education...but schools are wasting more money than ever. My child's elementary school wastes tons of money every year on stoopid projects and events...and then send letters home begging for more pencils, notebooks, glue, crayons, etc. Were falling behind because schools are more focused on pushing an agenda than teaching the 3 R's...imo.
  16. I'm surprised they even still use the ABCDF grading system. My kids school uses E = excellent, S = satisfactory, and N = needs work until 5th grade. Most teachers are ridiculous nowadays...bravo to this teacher!
  17. Didn't sound like an apology to me...sounded like excuses. Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anything in there that said "we were wrong."
  18. Its difficult to judge the old woman because I've never been in her shoes. Its unfortunate that she was in that situation in the first place, where she felt she had to physically strike someone 55 years her junior. I don't physically punish my children and I would love to say that when they are 18 I will never be frustrated or disrepected by them to that point...but sitting here thinking about now I don't suppose I can imagine every situation that will arise..or that I will have the perfect response everytime. One thing is certain...if I ever am arrested for being in such a horrible spot that I felt the need to hit one of my kids...I can't see myself talking about it in the media "swearing I would do it again."
  19. Well, they were found not guilty so clearly it was upheld. I was speaking more about comments that implied they didn't care about any code of conduct because "he had it coming." I'm curious if they will now charge the guys who "claimed" they saw the assault, and the bloody mouth, with lying...i wonder if those soldiers will receive the same outpouring of support?
  20. With all due respect...you really don't know. I don't mean that to sound harsh...but I can tell you that as someone whose job is directly related to this new law, and is receiving briefings on how this new law will affect my job...I have a MUCH better real life association with how this law works than you do. In fact, as a State certified ID tech who is licensed by the State of Arizona to take fingerprints and DNA, and use various methods of identifying persons of unknown origin and identity...I am very tied into this law. You will NOT be arrested for simply "not having papers." That is ludicrous. Officers are tasked with exhausting all avenues available to them to discover the identity and legality of persons they come into contact with. It is not uncommon for officers to bring people they can't identify to me (or the people I work with) to discover those answers...and then let them go on their way. Sure, its an inconvenience to them...but they were the one's travelling with NO means of verifying their identity...not exactly a cops fault. If you speak english (which it appears you do) it would be extremely easy to verify your legal standing. I have been at this job for quite a few years. Its almost laughable (if not insulting) to think we would just arrest legal immigrants or tourists over something so easily discerned. In fact, under this new law..it is even easier, and faster for police to make those determinations. The Due Process of law under the new law is incredibly fast at the local level compared to how it is now. Now...why would you travel to any foreign country and not have papers that verified your legal right to travel in that country. You are traveling through a foreign country and don't have legal documentation showing that you are authorized to do so...and its their fault?
  21. I was raised in a cult. I'd like to think I've mostly grown past it as an adult...but I have moments where those attitudes take hold of me. I suffered severe rebellion once leaving the group myself (I stayed connected after my parents had left, much to their disappointment and fear)
  22. I am curious why Burning Ember thinks they would be arrested if they travelled to Arizona? Do you plan on breaking the law? Anyone who has been following my comments knows that I had some reservations about some aspects of this new law. I am happy to report that much of what we are being told about how this will work is alleviating many of my previous concerns.
  23. This story happened a year ago. Not only that...one of these guys (Alikahn) worked in the US Dept. of Justice Under Clinton and Bush...hardly Obama's fault he's reached the Fed Gov't level. The other guy (Shora) has no individual power at all within Homeland Security...he is part of the 16-member Homeland Security Advisory Council...which includes former FBI, CIA, and military leaders...and even the President of the Navajo Nation. Native Americans working in the US gov't...Clearly the end is near...
  24. I saw this quote from one of the students in a MSNBC article: "I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day," Annicia Nunez, a Live Oak High student, said. "We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July." ...its like the twilight zone lately.
