  1. Acts 2:38 38 Then Peter said to them,"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. NKJV Acts 10:48 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days. NKJV Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. NKJV Why did the disciples baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus and not in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit like most of the Church does today? Because the NAME of the Father Son and Holy Spirit is JESUS. The disciples understood this, thus they baptized accordingly. They were just with Jesus, they knew what He meant when He said that in Matt 28:19. He wasnt telling them to repeat after Him when baptizing, He was telling them to baptize in NAME of the three titles. Who do we pray in the name of? JESUS. Who do we cast demons out in the name of? JESUS. By who
  2. The gift of tongues and speaking in tongues upon recieving the baptism of the Holy Spirit are two different things. Speaking in tongues was a sign to the apostles that they had recieved the Holy Spirit. When one recieves the baptism of the Holy Spirit, he/she will speak in tongues. That is what we seek, the Holy Spirit. This happened all through Acts and it is for EVERY believer. See Acts 2:38-39.
  3. ____________________________________________ The unity of God; Deuteronomy 6:4; "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord." These words were always used at the begining of the Jewish services of both morning and evening (verse 4 and 5), and may be termed the short creed of the Jews. In them we find not only the declaration of the unity of God as contrasted with polythesim, the doctrin of the Trinity, and the true nature of Spiritual worship, but also the fact that Jehovah is the absolute and only uncaused God. Literally, JEHOVAH our ELOHIM is a unified Jehovah. Deut. 6:1-8 was one of four passages which Jews used in phylacteries, and which they regarded as one of the most pregnant with truth and instruction. The other passages were 11:18-21; Ex. 13:2-10, 11-16. The unity of oneness of Jehovah and God-Jehovah our Elohim is a united Jehovah. Regarding the trinity of God. There is more than one Jehovah and more than one God as individuals, but they are one Jehovah and one God in unity, thus expressing the truth of three separate and distinct persons, beings, or individuals in the Divine Trinity (PLEASE READ 1 John 5:7). The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one in this way, not one in individuality. The words Jehovah and God have a singular and plural meaning, like our word SHEEP. Since there are three persons or beings, then the only way they can be one is in the sense of unity, as prayed for in John 17:21-23. Hazard, thank you for your response. I challenge you to pray and ask the Lord to give you the His full truth. Tell, Him you want His full truth and not anything man-made. Then see what He shows you. God bless you!
  4. Lea-anne, I hate that you had this experience. Unfortunately, this is what some teach. But, as the Bible says, tongues come as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. Not as you give utterance. Dont seek tongues. Instead, seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. All through the book of Acts, when the church recieved the gift of the Holy Spirit, they spoke in tongues. It is for you and for all who will ask. Ask the Lord for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, He wants to give this to you, and it is fully biblical. Tongues are the result of recieving the baptism, the baptism is more important. God bless you.
  5. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! NKJV Isaiah 44:24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, And He who formed you from the womb: "I am the LORD, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself; NKJV Colossians 2:8-9 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.NKJV Malachi 3:6 6 "For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob. NKJV
  6. Woohoo! Thats what Im talking about! Hallelujah JESUS you ROCK!
  7. 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. KJV Well I am no theologian, but to me this verse says this simplified and in epainos interpretation: Although there are many that are called gods, but to us Christians, there is only ONE GOD and ONE LORD.
  8. Well, you are half correct. In 1 Corinthians 8:5-6, we read: "For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." Also, in Romans 8:17 we find: "And if children [of God] then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that w may be also glorifed together" The key word there is "joint-heirs." That means equal. Equal to Christ's (aka God's) glory. We shall recieve all that God has. Christ recieves all that God has, and if we are not joint heirs with Christ, then we wouldn't recieve that all either. But, being joint-heirs with Christ, guess what, gives us all that God hath. And if that all did not include power, glory and dominion, than it sure wouldn't be all in the complete sense of the word. "And I said: thou art gods, ye are children of the almighty" Psalms 82:6 Hope this helps.
  9. Hebrews 6:4-6 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. NKJV
  10. A "god" in the sense as he was a heavenly being, an archangel of high rank. So, what does this have to do with your name? Surely you do not identify with Lucifer? Why so obscure? Good observation. It has nothing to do with Lucifer, nor to I wish to offiliate myself with him. He certainly was a person of high rank before the world was, and it is a pity that he desired more than what God had promised to give him. Now, to all, the reason I proposed this question is not because I am in doubt on the subject. I lived in Brazil for some time, and I saw many different religions and I often asked about their beliefs and practices. I guess you could say that I interviewed a number of leaders and members. It seemed that nobody knew whether the Father is Jehovah, or if it is Christ. People from the same congregations often contradicted one another. I wanted to see if it was the same in the States, but I find that people here are much more well informed on the topic. Thanks for the replies. No Lucifer was not a god. He was one of God's most perfect angels. Lucifer said. " I will be like the most high God and that is what got his tail kicked out of heaven. He was never a god. Actually Lucifer was a god. He was not God, but he was a god. Adam was a god. We were created to be a god. ummm...no..we were not created to be a god. Where is your scripture to back this? There is only one God and He created us to worship the one true God, Himself!
  11. Yes, Jesus is God! Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! Isaiah 44:24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, And He who formed you from the womb: "I am the LORD, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself; NKJV Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. NKJV John 8:24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." Colossians 2:8-9 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; NKJV
  12. Well do you want to argue about it??? Nope Agreement isnt hard? I think you can gently have a debate over various issues your in disagreement about and still respect each other, but how can you agree if you disagree?
  13. How can you be saved if at first you dont believe, that would also be like being saved with no faith. How can we be saved if we dont have faith in Jesus? Believing is the beginning! God does have plans set for us if we come to the point of believing then His plan can get put into motion, but we all have freewill to choose Him or not.
  14. uh-oh....well, I have outside cats....guess its time to call on Jesus for protection!
  15. uh-oh....well, I have outside cats....guess its time to call on Jesus for protection!
  16. I was in a Baptist church for years and during that time, I wanted to speak in tongues but I wanted God more than anything...well, I went forward to recieve the baptism of the Spirit at conferences and some non-denominational churches but nothing happened. Finally, God led me to the church I am in now and when I obeyed the scripture Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them,"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. thats when it happened for me. It doesnt always happen that way. But, for me it was just like the scripture said. I was baptized in Jesus' name and then I recieved the baptism of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. Speaking in tongues was a sign to the apostles that people had recieved the Holy Spirit. The gift of tongues is different. So, seeking the gift of tongues and seeking the gift of the Holy Spirit are 2 different things. But, upon recieving the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues just comes with it as it did all through the book of Acts. An 8-yr old friend of my daughter came to church with us one morning and she was zealously seeking the gift of the Holy Spirit. She kept saying "Thank you for the Holy Spirit!" over and over and boom, the Lord gave it to her, she was speaking in tongues! Acts 2:39 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call." This isnt seeking the gifts and not the giver, to the contrary...if it is for you and your children and all who ask, then we are seeking the giver and more of Him!
  17.
