Is this the verse you are referring to? and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVED UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB." ---Romans 11:26

  5. Here in Los Angeles... on Saturday around 5 or 6 pm, it was STILL 90! UGH! On Friday I had changed the water in my fish tanks and by Sunday the water had evaporated by 1/2"! It's HOT! I just hope we don't have power outages... that is always a concern here because many people won't conserve.... they run their washers, dish washers, etc all afternoon... then the power goes out and nobody has ac or even fans! When it was 105 I was stuck in traffic with no ac and the added pleasure of a rotting dog carcass on the asphalt. OH give me WINTER lol!!! I heard briefly on the news that yesterday somewhere in South Dakota hit 125?!?!?!?

  7. Bush's approval rating may be going down and oil prices going up, but hey, you gotta do what's right no matter the worldly cost. Related article: Bush Rejects Lebanon's Calls for Cease-Fire
  8. There are lots of orphanages in Mexico where you can stay and serve... I have been to one for developmentally disabled kids and it was awesome! I know many inner-city teens from Los Angeles and midwesterners who have served and been blessed by serving at an orphanage in TJ: Spectrum Ministries Here in Los Angeles there is the Dream Center. They have many ways to serve while there... homeless youth outreach, kids ministries, construction, food ministry... but no kids under 15 allowed. This place is huge... right in Hollywood.
  9. At our youth group we have worship nights... we live in So Cal, so many nights are held on the patio around one of those portable fireplace things, sometimes it's indoors, sometimes it's at the beach. We open with prayer- we have a box for prayer requests that we will pray for and then any prayers brought up that night. Then we worship- whether it's with the band on stage or a guitar on the beach. Having it by firelight or indoors with the lights dimmed is nice because then nobody is "in the spotlight." Why not have your own worship night? It could be the same night but after your group, or another night... and you could establish the schedule of the night as having no schedule
  10. jac~ I'm so sorry for your loss... I know how difficult it is packing up their stuff- it's very painful.. As to "how long" it will hurt... I know it may seem nearly unbearable to deal with the hurt right now, but God is here for you to comort you by His Spirit- He is the Father of Compassion and the God of all Comfort... through His strength you can get through this and the pain does ease. We will always miss a loved one we have lost, so to a certain degree there will remain some amount of heartache, but we can also have joy in having had that person in our life and for the Christians it is a temporary loss.
  11. I was reading an article on CNN and it said that Cleric Abdul Raoulf, a "moderate" muslim of the Afghan Ulama Council exclaimed, "Cut off his head! We will call on the people to pull him into pieces so there's nothing left." And that's considered moderate?! *sigh* *praying for Abdul Rahman and those involved*

  13. I saw the movie and I thought it was excellent. Not many movies bring tears to my eyes, but this one did for a couple reasons: 1) it was so sad to see the parallels between life in a savage tribe and life in my own culture and 2) because of the beauty and power of forgiveness. I liked that the movie was not "preachy," imho emulating 1 John 3:18 (Little children, we must not love in word or speech, but in deed and truth;). The only "issue" I have heard thus far is that the lead actor (I can't recall his name) who plays Steve and Nate Saint, is a gay rights advocate. I didn't know that when I saw the movie, and knowing that now... I would still recommend the movie. Could they have chosen someone less outspoken about supporting something sinful, sure... but even choosing someone less outspoken doesn't make them less a sinner. Perhaps the actor couldn't convey the things that are "spiritually discerned"... but believers already "get that" part and nonbelievers are clueless to it anyway... but the story is about the goodness of God's love and forgiveness- it's not about any particular person "good" or "bad." It would seem having a believer play that part would be a better choice, but we don't know the "bigger picture" and perhaps it was God's will for him to play that part for reasons we will come to know later. And besides... if the Waodani were shown grace, mercy and love by their victims' families, surely those retelling their story should show some grace, mercy and love.
  14. I think it's very important. There is a huge difference between calling God- the One true God written of in the Holy Bible- "God" in any particular language and calling another god "God." Since Jesus is God... if a particular religion denies the deity of Christ and salvation through Him and only Him, how can they be worshipping the same God? Who do they say Jesus is? The Christ, the Son of the living God? (Matthew 16:13-16) Or do they preach another jesus? (2 Corinthians 11:3-4) Everyone is a creation of God, but not everyone is a child of God.
  15. Several years ago I was blessed by a guest speaker at my church... a tribesman from the Waodani tribe in Ecuador. He had been a violent warrior prior to being saved and now felt he was very much needed to be a missionary to the States. The story of the missionaries adn the tribe is told in the movie "End of the Spear" that will be out January 20th... I am certainly going to see it! End of the Spear

    Hello

This is not a site for the promotion of a religion that we believe to be a serious deviation from the truth of Jesus. Remember the warning in Galatians: Galatians 1 6 I marvel that you so soon are being moved away from Him who called you into the grace of Christ, to another gospel, 7 which is not another, but some are troubling you, and desiring to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from Heaven preach a gospel to you beside what we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, and now I say again, If anyone preaches a gospel to you beside what you have received, let him be accursed. Smith was shown another gospel by an angel of light. It is a different gospel than what is in the bible. Smith was not shown another gospel. He was shown THE Gospel in its fullness, and was called to restore the authority of that Gospel to the face of the earth. The Gospel is simple: believe in Christ, be baptized, receive the Spirit, and endure in your faith. We DO emphasize endurance to the end. Unlike "mainstream" Christians, we do not believe someone can accept Christ, but commit mass-murder, and yet be saved. Salvation depends on faith; and faith without works is meaningless. Therefore, works are required for salvation. (But those works do not save us. Makes sense?) The Gospel restored by Smith, as delivered by the Angel Moroni, is the same Gospel preached by Christ, Peter, John and Paul. If it's the "same" gospel, why did it need to be "restored"? Joseph Smith preached another jesus... not the jesus that brings salvation... if the Book of Mormon, the Quran or whatever or whoever changes who the Bible says God is... it's another gospel, another jesus. As a Christian and follower of Christ, the Son of God, I do NOT believe my Lord and Saviour was a mere creation like mormonism teaches. What good can a mere human do in regards to salvation of mankind? Jospeh Smith- a mere human and false prophet- has absolutely nothing to do with my salvation.
  17. Yeah... we're always shakin' here in Los Angeles due to one fault or another. On many of the hills you can see the veins of rock where they split and separated. It's really something to stand along the San Andreas fault line in all this powdery substance that used to be boulders than had fallen into the crevice, been pulverized and pushed back up by friction.
  18. I agree- it's new age mumbo jumbo. God gave us spiritual gifts to help us serve Him as He calls us... we should not rely on training ourselves to practice some new age magic. Different type of aura, Marnie. I get auras prior to a migraine as well... that type of aura is a precursor to a migraine that you yourself feel/see- it's not the new-age-spiritual-energy-emission-type-of-aura-thing that one claims to see in other people.
  19. As the article states, several mass graves have been found. I would imagine it's likely there are others not yet found.
  20. Even more impressive will be when they are leash-trained like the German Shepherds
  21. Yeah... I want to see pictures too! There's no way my Siamese...uh...horse.... could be supported by mere pine tree branches.
  22. Regardless of what horrors he committed, is he not someone for whom the Lord died?
  23. My ministry is missions/evangelism. My ministry is working with inner-city teens in Los Angeles County. God called me into youth ministry; I had not expected nor considered teaching teens (I even asked God if He was sure about this, lol) but I am soooo thankful and blessed He told me to GO to that ministry... those kids are my very heart. My heart is also devoted to the persecuted church in Asia... when I have the financial ability to do so, I would like to go on short-term trips twice a year. I believe at some point my ministry will include working with the Deaf, though I am not sure exactly where and how (I am studying to be an interpreter). These things God clearly called me too... it's so interesting to see how God equips us to do His will- He knew what I was able to do and would love to do even when I wasn't sure... I am sooo glad I listened and trusted to the One who knows me better than I know myself
  24. I find astronomy fascinating, and I am very interested in the topics you post If scientists wish to search out non-existant lil green men, so be it... all their searching will only provide evidence that life was not created haphazardly by evolution... the heavens declare the majesty of God! Although I may not agree with a lil-green-man-motivation... I am certainly thankful for the resulting technologies and improvements in existing technologies... programmable pacemakers, breast cancer detection, Doppler radar, fire detectors, voice-operated wheelchairs, emergency response robots, self-righting life rafts, intracranial pressure monitor, etc, etc, etc. And now that I think of it... I'm also thankful for Tang... it sustained me during a stay in a third-world country hotel with a very questionable buffet
  25. OOOOOHHHHH... beautiful pictures... I take it their beauty and the science of them is why you chose the name and no relation to being a "gas cloud"??? I'm never going to live that down am I. . . ? nope
