I was once Worthy family too. Will, still am I guess but now I'm the distant cousin, twice removed of your aunt who lives on a remote island in the Pacific... Now I just kind of post when I feel like I have something to say that hasn't already been said. And being a quiet person, that means only on rare occasions.

I see you're in Indiana. Does the school have any relation to the church?
-
Well, it was done in house with borrowed equipment, but the equipment was professional so the movie still came out well for it not being a major production studio.

how can u not know who paul harvey was? wow that is just amazing!!!! Be doubly amazed then, because I didn't know who he was either. But then, I don't listen to talk radio, and I'm sure he was before my time as a news commentator (not that I watch the news).

I just saw a good short movie last Sunday. It was called The Board and it made by a group of people from Indiana's Bethesda Baptist Church. It was based on a sermon series from Pastor Colin Smith of the Orchard Evangelical Free Church, and it was at that church I saw it. The entire movie is set inside a single "room." I put that in quotes, because the room is actually inside the head of a non-believer who is being witnessed to by his friend. The members of the board have names like Mind, Memory, Emotion, and Will and of course represent those traits. They argue whether or not this friend is telling him something worthwhile, while in the meantime a bright light is just behind a door to the room. Should they open the door and let Him in? The trailer is at http://www.boardmovie.com/.

Alfie Patten - the exploited face of broken Britain This is a sad article about that very young-looking 13-year-old boy in Britain who is said to be a father, though there is some controversy on whether it is he or one of at least (!) two others his 15-year-old girlfriend also slept with. The story is no longer news, being two weeks old, and in any event I just want to point out some of the things in the article: (emphasis mine) Um. Parenting 101 class needed for these parents? (emphasis mine again) So there it is. One of the biggest reasons for this sad story. I mean, despite their sex education? How about because of it? This is what the leftists in our country want for us. Do they know about the state of Britain? Do they care?

He may not even be the father: 13-year-old father Alfie the victim of cash scam, girlfriend's family friend says Certainly he has shown he is not mature enough in his response to some older teens who also claimed paternity after the story broke. I will let you find it on the Sun's site if you wish- what he said ("displayed" according to the article) really wasn't very nice, to say the least.

Top 25 Things Vanishing From America
Qun Mang replied to kat8585's topic in Most Interesting News Developments
Was faith in Jesus Christ was one of the ones of the 25 vanishing in America? I went to the site, and clicked next, but it just went to the same page. Oh well. Unfortunately no, though you are right- it does belong on the list. Try clicking the graphical "NEXT" button instead of the text link. I ran into the same problem and the button worked for me. -
When they do open the new site, I think they should add "Sponsored by New Jersey's Civil Rights Division lawsuit." They should also donate all the profits to a Bible-based ministry that reaches out to homosexuals and put a nice big banner on the site that says so.

Curious that I haven't seen this posted here yet, so I will revive this old thread to do so. It lloks like eHarmony has chosen to settle and create a separate site for the homosexuals:

Air Cars: A New Wind for America's Roads?
Qun Mang replied to nebula's topic in Weird and Wacky News
I look at it as an enclosed motorcycle rather than mini-car, though still an expensive one at that. -
WN: Pastor charged with felony for spanking son - World Net Daily
Qun Mang replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in U.S. News
The teacher is not to blame. There are laws in place that say if a teacher hears of anything that might be child abuse and doesn't report it they could lose their jobs (or worse?). In this case there seems to be possible evidence in the alleged bruising. But... even if the bruising is true, it sounds to me that this dad did everything right except the possibility of spanking too hard. And I do agree that most cases by far are overreaching and are unjustly aimed at taking away parental rights. Only Uncle Sam knows how to raise your child properly. Riiiiight... -
I was talking with someone the other day about the Indian boy (two boys really I guess) and she sent me a Youtube link about the girls. It looks like it was on the Learning Channel. Rules prohibit me from posting the link, but the title is "Conjoined Twins, Abby & Brittany Hensel turn 16" if you would like to search for it over there.

WN: Calif. court: Homosexual rights trump religious freedom - One New
Qun Mang replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in U.S. News
In the meantime, if they are required to serve these anti-Christians while an appeal is pending, perhaps some civil disobedience is in order. "sorry, not taking on new patients." "Oops, we seem to have lost your records, we'll have to start over..." -
WN: CA legislature passes bill for 'gay day' celebrations in

May 22 will also then be known as lowest attendance day of the year if parents are paying attention. -
WN: Germany Declares War on Home-Schoolers - CBN News

But it's a choice parents should have. With some of the poison being spoonfed to children in state schools the parents should be allowed the alternative. "It's the law" - oh, please. It's a bad law is the point. And missionaries should never be a part of that law either as they are not German citizens. -
It does look like a nonissue now since they are giving Labor Day off after all. Plus, this muslim holiday will only be for one year according to the article, after which it will turn into a 'personal holiday' instead:

The last time I did this puzzle I solved it the "techie" way by (highlight for spoiler): removing all spaces and punctuation with a word processor then doing a search one at a time for each book (after finding the easy ones on my own of course).

Woman sells house to buy cloned puppies
Qun Mang replied to buckthesystem's topic in Weird and Wacky News
Why stop with pets? Once everyone has easy access to pet clones (not that it's the same pet mind you, as she will figure out) then how about our children who tragically die? Next, start the cloning process for those maimed by accident or disease and euthanize the victim. Surely by then we can even speed up the growing process (stopping at the right age) and transplant the memories. Slippery slope... -
Tesco bans parents from buying alcohol if they are
Qun Mang replied to buckthesystem's topic in World News
I have read several stories about this store's tight stance on alcohol in the last couple of years. If they are so concerned about minors consuming alcohol, it seems to me the thing for this store to do is to stop selling it altogether, perhaps opening separate stores where minors aren't allowed in for this purpose. (edited for faulty word usage) -
Totally ignoring WayneB's post of course. Now where's that thumbs DOWN emote... Ah, here it is: - at least to the parts that say to work on alternative fuels instead of drilling. Alternative sources yes, but drilling in the meantime as WayneB said to remove our dependence on foreign oil ASAP.

You know, I clicked over to that link and this is the headline I got (may or may not change again) was: "Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity on accused shooter's reading list". Um... so what if he reads books by these people? As much as the gunman was attacking liberals, it sounds like the writer is attacking conservatives to me.
