  1. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I just wanted you to know it helped a great deal to hear someone say this was not the Lord punishing me.
  2. Sorry it has taken this long to reply. Thanks for the comforting message! It gives me encouragement and hope.
  3. Yep. I have heard sermons that seemed to be custom made for me. But then I realized there is no such thing as a mind reader so it couldn't be the pastor but instead must be the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
  4. Wow! That's a stumper. I couldn't find it. But whoever does, could you please tell me where that is at in the Bible? Thanks.
  5. Shazzmazz, I thought I would share this with you: Amy Carmichael was influenced to become a missionary after hearing Hudson Taylor speak about the need for missionaries in China. She applied to be a missionary with the China Inland Mission but was eventually turned away because of her poor health.
  6. I was moved by the story of Amy Carmichael, who I first learned of in a movie last year. On Christianity.com is an article titled "Amy Carmichael helped the helpless." She was an Irish missionary to India's poor orphan children. She rescued a girl from the pagan temple priests. What struck me about her was how she spent over 50 years there without returning to her homeland. She had a heart for God and for the suffering children. She had such a singlemindedness and wholehearted submission to the Lord. There was a sweetness that eminated from her.
  7. LOVE IS LOVE IS... A MOTHER'S SOFT, WARM HUGS THAT GENTLY REASSURE; TO PET A KITTEN'S FUZZY NOSE AND LISTEN TO IT PURR; TO SEE A CHILD'S WONDER IN IT'S EYES SO WIDE AND BRIGHT TO SEE THE BIGNESS OF OUR GOD SHINE FORTH THROUGH STARS AT NIGHT HIS ARTISTRY IS ALL AROUND FOR THOSE WHO CARE TO SEE HIS LOVE IS IN THE BREEZE AND IN THE BEAUTY OF A TREE. THE FLOWERS WITH THEIR DETAIL AND THE COLORS THEY DISPLAY; THROUGHOUT HIS HANDIWORK WE SEE THIS POWER EVERY DAY. AND MOST OF ALL, WHAT JESUS DID TO SHOW HIS LOVE SO STRONG... HE DIED FOR EVERY SINNER ( HE, WHO NEVER HAD DONE WRONG!) LOVE IS WHAT HE OFFERS US AND HEAVEN WITHOUT END THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL... TO LAY YOUR LIFE DOWN FOR A FRIEND!
  8. Sounds like a plan. I'll await your pm. And thanks for reassuring me that I didn't offend you. That's the last thing I wanted to do. Your take on it is a good one. If this results in a club, then something positive came of it.
  9. Just discovered your offer to start it. I vote yes. But I know time is an issue for you. So if there is anything I can do to help you out, let me know. Explain to me in a pm and I will do my best. Okay?
  10. Definitely. To credit them is important and the legal way. Not sure what you do in those occasional cases where it says author unknown. Ever run into a poem like that? I have. But I've found that songs are quite good about telling who wrote them. By the way, I hope I did not hijack your thread by bringing this subject up. Maybe I should have just commented how touched I was by your poem here... and then started a topic of my own for the poetry club idea. Sorry. Sometimes I act spontaneously and later on realize it may not have been the best idea. Hope I didn't do wrong by you. I sure didn't want to sidetrack your topic or overshadow the poem the Lord gave you, sis.
  11. I don't mind at all, Yowm. I value your opinion. And you make a good point. In essence, I agree with that sentiment. However, there are published poets who have written uplifting poems we could share. Ones that have personally ministered to us and could serve as a source of encouragement to one other. I guess I was thinking along those lines. Ayin Jade mentioned praise and there are such good songs with lyrics we could post. So on the one hand, I do see your reasoning. But I see the other side, too.
  12. "And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground." (Genesis 4:10) Don't know if we are to comment or ask questions in this thread? But I just have to say this... Whenever I read how God spoke these words, there is something powerful about it in my spirit. Anyone else get that sense? Any significance to why it says crieth to me from the ground? Is that just a poetic way of God telling Cain he is aware of what happened? (We know the ground is where Abel's blood was shed.) Silly question maybe.
  13. I agree. I believe that would be honoring unto the Lord. But I haven't written too many. And that may be the case of most poets here. So do you think it could be our own poems and also those of others which have been published? When you say lyrics do you mean from hymns and contemporary Christian songs? I know there are some such as "Praise Him in this storm" by Casting Crowns that would be good.
  14. Thanks, Yowm... I think this is an accurate definition that cuts right to the chase!
  15. Amen! I have tears in my eyes. How true and convicting! I love your poem. Thanks for sharing it. I'm touched and glad to have found a poet among us with a heart for the Lord. I've been writing some (on and off) since the 5th grade. I found out from George that he could create a poetry club. Imo, it would be a nice addition to Worthy to have a place where we could share our own (as well as favorites by other poets.) But not sure who would participate or head it... What do you think? I welcome feedback from anyone reading this.
  16. Genesis 4:4 "And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:"
  17. Timothy's father was Greek.
  18. Are these animals that are now extinct? I am also wondering about the relevance of them in the Bible. They are in several scriptures so God must have thought them significant enough for them to be in His preserved Word. For example, this psalm has them together back to back. Psalm 74:13, 14 "Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters. Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness." Is there any particular meaning to be taken away from them?
  19. "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." 1 Cor 1:18 The gospel flies in the face of the status quo and what is trending at the moment. Popularity and fitting in is really important to the world. They often look upon you as an embarrassment. In my early days with the Lord, I was called a Jesus freak at public school. Another comeback with those not on the Lord's side is, "Well-that's good for you, but it's not for me. " It's as if they almost view God as a mere hobby that they happen to not take an interest in. Anyone else run into this response in their personal encounters with the unsaved?
  20. Thanks for pointing this out. I went to Ephesians 1 just now and looked at it more closely. I found several 'in whom', just as you'd said. Oddly enough, I never thought about it that much in the way that you'd explained it. So I am glad you brought it to my attention.
  21. Good advice. I can attest to that. I have been making a point of doing that lately and it definitely helps. In fact, my posting this poem is a way of reaching out to those who may need to hear they are not isolated in their struggles. It is good to practice edification as the scripture sets forth. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says,"Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do." Sometimes I am just in too much physical pain to actually do something to help. But in those moments I can still pray for others... Intercession is so important.
