  1. It started in Asbury University, in Kentucky, then has spread out to other states and schools. There is a lot online, both pro and con, about this.
  2. Oversight can, and is abused, when men promote their personal theology above Gods will in matters. It's man who does the damage. Why else would God set up bishops and elders, apostles, prophets, teachers, etc. if it was never His idea to use them? To repeat myself from an earlier post ... Does God speak to people personally? Sure. Does the Holy Spirit teach us? Sure. Are the prayer warriors seeking His presence and leading? Sure. Still, there needs to be accountability, which is why God set up His body as He did. We find this in 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4 and 1 Timothy 3, with warnings about false teachers and false prophets in 2 Peter 2.
  3. I agree that when God moves the doubters come out trying to quench the Spirit. Yet, there are some who also see a movement like this as an opportunity to promote their cultish ideas. Discernment is needed, a lot of it, to weed out the platitudes from the truth, the true followers of Christ from the self promoting heretics. Accountability is also key to oversee the followers to ensure they are not placing their ideas above Gods leading, even in the leadership.
  4. It does portray the beginning well, but 2 hours is far too short to open the whole story. I do so hope there will be more coming in the future.
  5. You are right, we are talking past each other, as if we are discussing two different subjects. I am speaking about accountability to someone, someone whom God put in place. Back in the Jesus Movement time, that was Chuck Smith. Chuck had to keep Lonnie Frisbee in line as Lonnie started to place his ideas above what God was doing. If it was just Lonnie doing what Lonnie thought was right, I don't believe the movement would of lasted. Lonnie sure did love the Lord, but somewhere along the way, his message began being directed by his personal desires, and it was evident Lonnie decided to move to Florida after Chuck spoke to him.
  6. I'm not God, so no, not all revivals must happen the same way. He will move as He sees fit, but He also will not go against scripture, now will He? All through scripture we see where someone brings the word, like the Apostles did, before any movement happened. I've yet to find where there has been no accountability, have you?
  7. Sorry for not replying sooner. Yes, it was quite an event to watch growing up. God has been moving in me that He is going to do the same thing now, which is rather strange because I've always believes in the past that God would not move again until the church was forced underground. As I've kept my eye on what nations were on fire for the Lord, they all were in countries where being a Christians was basically against the law. Not so here in the US ... yet!
  8. That's not how it happened in the 70's though. Chuck Smith already had a church, though it was a small one. IT began there and moved into the streets, not the other way around.
  9. I have been following this with great expectation that God is on the move in the same way He did in the early 70's, but I noticed one thing lacking, a Chuck Smith. someone to guide them and lead them. Yes, we are led by the Holy Spirit, yet even God set up authorities/elders to oversee the body. Is there one in this revival that I've not noticed yet?
  10. The number 7 ... does it resemble a Hebrew letter?
  11. By what has been happening in the US, it appears that this is beginning all over again, but this time in Christian collages. What are your thoughts?
  12. Is it the condition of the heart? Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
  13. Simple ... Israel is an area that will have the worst earthquake the world will ever see, according to Revelation 16:17-22.
  14. Since you posted this, may I ask where those three balloons were traveling over? Strange how this comes from one anonymous “senior defense official.”. The one just shot down flew over a nuke site, did it not? I'm sure that is a good reason to bring it down, but it's even stranger to wait until days after, more than enough time to send back crucial information, if that is what it was actually doing.
  15. Oh, I'm sure he would never call himself a socialist, but if you step back and review what he has been doing, you, sure looks it to me. You know, there is also a saying that if the blind lead the blind, they both will fall into a ditch. Matthew 15:14 It's anybody's right to follow whomever they want, but facts are not trumped by desires.
  16. By now you should be aware of what the Terms Of Service states, but in case you're not ... https://www.worthychristianforums.com/terms. Abuse of other posters is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, name calling, insulting, harassing, threatening or in any way invading the privacy of another poster. Debate the subject, not the person. 17. According to his agenda he does, but his agenda is what people don't like, unless one wants a socialist government.
  18. Sorry, my mistake ... wrong thread. I'll try my best to pay more attention to whom I'm communicating with and in which thread.
  19. Time for bed and this is what it's like outside ... just took Buddy out before hitting the sack. -19 °F -42 °F and it is going to get colder right before sunrise ... hope the car starts in the morning!
  20. The only time that ever happened is when Christ died on the cross and spent three days in the heart of the earth. When He rose, he brought captivity captive. Those who died before Christ rose had no means to accept salvation through His death and resurrection because it had not happened yet. After Christ rose, salvation became available to all who believed in Jesus. They have no excuse if they die rejecting Jesus after hearing the scriptures. To suggest this will happen again would require scripture to be wrong when it tells us that it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, not a second chance somewhere down the line. Your whole argument up until now is that all humans will be saved. Why the change now?
  21. I would appreciate it if you would provide where you found this in scripture. Book, chapter and verse would be sufficient. This way we could discuss scripture instead of personal beliefs. Scripture is where the truth is found. I Peter 3:19, I Peter 4:6. Thank you! I will post the complete scripture starting with 1 Peter 3:18 through 1 Peter 4:6 so we can discuss how those two verses were used and what they meant. 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. 1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. 5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. Now that scripture is in front of us, please do notice that there is no mention that every person Jesus preached to accepted His words, only that Jesus did preach to the dead. When anyone adds to scripture, it no longer remain just scripture, but becomes a personal theology from scripture, and most likely wrong. You are adding to what scripture is saying by implying that everyone who heard His words became saved. It's just not there. If it did happen, don't you think God would of included it in scripture so there would be no doubt to your theology being true, as scripture is about truth??? But, He didn't because it does not fit in with the rest of scripture and would make scripture contradictory to itself. Do you want me to provide you with the scripture where your universal theology is not backed up by scripture? It will be long, but I will.
  22. The 60's and 70's brought about a different culture that was very lost, much like the culture of today ... very lost. The sins look different but the souls are still in need of a Savior. Will this happen again? Would you become part of a new movement or would you turn away from such a movement? Here is one persons experience of the Jesus Movement of the past. Well worth your time to watch and consider. God will be moving again, but will it look the same? For those who are wondering ... yes, I did watch it all before posting.
