  5. The statutes that make up the UK constitution can be amended by a simple act of Parliament. There are essentially two ways spelled out in the Constitution for how to propose an amendment. One has never been used. The first method is for a bill to pass both houses of the legislature, by a two-thirds majority in each. Once the bill has passed both houses, it goes on to the states. This is the route taken by all current amendments. Because of some long outstanding amendments, such as the 27th, Congress will normally put a time limit (typically seven years) for the bill to be approved as an amendment (for example, see the 21st and 22nd). The second method prescribed is for a Constitutional Convention to be called by two-thirds of the legislatures of the States, and for that Convention to propose one or more amendments. These amendments are then sent to the states to be approved by three-fourths of the legislatures or conventions. This route has never been taken, and there is discussion in political science circles about just how such a convention would be convened, and what kind of changes it would bring about. Regardless of which of the two proposal routes is taken, the amendment must be ratified, or approved, by three-fourths of states. There are two ways to do this, too. The text of the amendment may specify whether the bill must be passed by the state legislatures or by a state convention. Only one amendment, the 21st, specified a convention. In any case, passage by the legislature or convention is by simple majority. It will require a constitution amemdment to change the law..I do not see that happening very soon. So it is more political rhetoric than a presidental executive order.   11. The first question is do any of these people want to quit smokng, drinking or being obese ? There is lot of help to aid them from their addictions. But when they refuse to be compliant at what point do you say fine, you are on your own. Other than that we are just enabling them in their self denial of addiction.
  12. I saw this as two questions and a serious situation. First: sex outside of marriage. The bible is pretty explicit about a person who practices it and the consequences. But a person can be forgiven by stop (repentance) sinning (practicing) and seek forgiveness. However now reaping what we sow comes into play. From the break of truth and hurt inflicted on their marriage partner to children from the affair. Second: the children from this affair can be a blessing or a curse. Is the man now going to accept responsibly and provide for the child out wedlock. This open a big can of worms that all parties need to be involved or the child of this situation will suffer. Reality is most men walk away and the single mom is left to defend for herself and the child. This happens frequently with divorced men. Christians need to remember fatherless household and include them in our prayers and activites.

  14. I think the writer was saying two things, one was about Oprah and her plans for a one year study in the Course of Miracles. However, I think the second thing was more important, that the Course of Miracles is not Christian teachings, but is false. This is more important, because people are being deceived. A true work of Satan. Christian know not to put faith in men (woman) but to examine the scriptures to make sure it is truth. The writer points out C of M states we are God, Christ, and much more that is clearly wrong.
  15. Enjoyed the spiritual thought before I begin my day with the world. It will remind me of the power of my tongue to praise the Lord and not the devil.
