The attached video is of dolphins playing with silver bubble rings that they have the ability to make under water to play with. It isn't known how they learn this, or if it's an inbred ability. As if by magic the dolphin does a quick flip of its head and a silver ring appears in front of its pointed beak. The ring is a solid, donut shaped bubble about 2-ft across, yet it doesn't rise to the surface of the water! http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/dolphinrings.asp

"I AM" is new age. Wow. Perhaps God's ability to be "I AM" doesn't fit into your box but God is so much more than we imagine that He is. You need a healer. God says "I AM". You need a savior, God says "I AM". That's the context my statement was meant in and there is NOTHING new age about God being everything that I need.

Of course you aren't worthy. None of us are. That's the beauty of Grace. It's unmerited favor. My answers: Yes, Yes

Memorizing Scripture...what about it?
glorywatch replied to annabelfwlr's topic in General Discussion
"I have hidden thy word in my heart that I might not sin against you." - Psalms 119:11 That pretty much sums up the reason to memorize Scripture in my opinion. -
I finally finished reading the book and I must say I was glad I read it. It has some wonderful analogy's of how our relationship with God should be and how we mess it up with all our 'religion". Nebula, the point the author was making is that "I AM" is what God is for all of us. You would have to read the book to understand the point and for those who haven't read it, going into detail may spoil it for them.

Nudist group wants clothing- optional polling site.
glorywatch replied to redwing's topic in Weird and Wacky News
some people really think living in a free country gives them the right to do as they please no matter how many are offended in the process. That is just ridiculous. Wake up people, God put us out of the Garden a long time ago. Clothing is not optional! -
It's a novel about a man discovering God. I am not sure how that can be bad. No one is suggesting this should replace God's Word. I am not sure what church you attend but in the one my family goes to, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are what is lifted up in praise and worship. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Eric, thank you for the wonderful reply. I am mid-way through and must admit at first I was a bit taken aback but thought, "STOP", keep reading and see where this is going. I really have enjoyed it so far even though I am not finished with it. I love some of the explainations of who God is which is really what has kept me reading. It is well written and I can't wait to see how it unfolds. Thanks for sharing your point of view.

The Tower of Babel was a great "human" achievment, a wonder of the world so to speak. But it was a monument to the people themselves rather than to God. Verse 6 tells you the real problem, aside from it being a monument to men, is that they would be unstoppable if they were allowed to continue. These people were so unified they would have been able to do anything, but it was not to glorify God it was to glorify themselves. Once we start thinking that what we do is for us, to glorify us, God will stop us just as He did those who were building the tower. The confusing of the language was a response to their defiance. When we start building towers to ourselves we are no longer glorifying God. I see that in a lot of mega-churches today. Monuments to men, not God. Not so sure I added a lot to this, but I too agree that it is interesting.

I am surprised you can put a link to something so explicit but cannot link to a youtube video. Seems a bit strange to me.

Man will always find fault. The only standard we are to be measured by is what God says in HIS Word. If you do those things, then it doesn't matter what man says. God is the one who set the standard. If we are doing the things God set forth for us to do then we are above reproach, no matter what man says. When it comes to deciding who can be leaders and elders in the church, where this really all comes from, then if a man has done all the things that Scripture says he should or should not do, then he fits the criteria that God has set as being "fit" or above reproach. Thats really all that matters.

In Titus 1 we find some insight into how a person should live "above reproach". They should not be over bearing, quick tempered, not given to drunkeness, not violent, not given to dishonest gain. It goes on to say rather the person should be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. A persons life style and relationships provides a window into their character. If you are honest, don't steal, don't cheat people, are a drunkard, then I would say you are living above reproach, which basically means you are living above "blame" for wrong doings. Why do we need Christ in this? Because without Him would we strive to do what is right and Holy or would we just be the carnal man that Scripture tells us we are. "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. Only when we have the blood of Christ applied to our lives can we truly say we are "blameless" because when God looks at us, he sees the blood of HIS SON, not our faults.

I hate to rain on your parade but you may want to check the party affiliation of most of those who put us in the tank. Is Barney Frank a Republican and all the others who profited off the misery of others. They are mostly liberals. Not to mention we have had a "Democratic" congress for the past two years. Go figure.

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding of the actual spelling of the words, since you stated you don't know Hebrew. One letter wrong can change the whole meaning. I know this isn't helpful but it is just a thought.

Email I received today: Here is a creative approach to redistribution of wealth as offered in a local newspaper... Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on a 'Obama 08' tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application. OR IS IT.........REDISTRIBUTION OF SOMEONE ELSE'S WEALTH IS A GREAT IDEA..............or just a fools game !!

I also wonder why it matters. It doesn't change the outcome of the story. One hand or two is not the point, the point is the tablets and what they contained. Far more important than if he used one or two hands.

Frank Turek's book "I don't have enough faith to be an Atheist" is a very good book. I have not watched the all of the video, but Dr. Turek was introduced as being for the affirmative, meaning he believes there is a God, so I am not quite sure how he could be "hiding" that he is a Christian. Not to mention the book is an apologetics book. He supoorts the "big bang theory"? Which one? There are so many. How do we know there wasn't a "big bang" when God spoke the world into existance. When you consider that men fell over in the garden when Jesus merely answered a question by saying "I am" can you imagine how powerful the words were when speaking a world into existance. Makes me thiink there was probably a whole bunch of bangs and other noises....just guessing. As far as shouting, I agree that shouting isn't necessary but I also know that I sometimes feel like that. I want to shout and say "Don't you get it?" This isn't a dress rehearsal...this is it. Our choices matter for all eternity. If you get the chance to read his book do so. It's worth it.

People are more impacted by your attitude than your theology...
glorywatch replied to a topic in General Discussion
If your theology is right your attitude will follow. -
Aleksander, I do that all the time. Make discoveries about Scripture that I have been reading all the time. I love the fact that God "enlightens" us just when we need it or are able to more clearly understand it. Yes it is amazing what we learn from staying in HIS WORD!
