  1. Hi Zion. I hope my answer can be of some help. Concerning why there are so many Christian denominations, I try to refer folks to: 1 Corinthians 1:10-31 10) Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11) For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 12) Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 13) Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? 14) I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; 15) Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. 16) And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. 17) For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18) For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19) For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20) Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21) For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22) For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23) But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24) But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25) Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26) For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27) But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28) And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29) That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31) That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. And: 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 1) And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2) I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3) For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 4) For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 5) Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6) I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7) So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8) Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 9) For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 10) According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13) Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15) If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16) Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17) If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. 18) Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19) For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20) And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. 21) Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; 22) Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; 23) And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's. I love this: And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's. Well, I hope that's helpful.
  2. I have a smartphone and use it often because it's my only phone line. Not to mention, there's Tetris on it. Ahem. But my family no longer uses a land line in order to cut back on the bills. Now, I'm not addicted to my phone. I hope not. On campus, I see a lot and I mean a lot of people my age looking down at their phones as they walk. A few of these people have almost bumped into me. Every hallway now is like a game of dodge the person with the smartphone. I mean, it's bad enough people txt and drive. Now I wonder if people who txt and walk will get into head on collisions.
  3. Amen, your pastor explained this wonderfully
  4. Good post th1bill. And this made me laugh, thanks | V
  5. This is interesting, I was just listening to a song called We Set Our Hearts and the song is based on Psalms 91. Here are the lyrics: Buried with Him who rose again we will live dead to sin There’s no life besides You This world fades but Your glory remains We set our hearts on the things of heaven Turning away from darkness we look to the Son We set our minds on the things that are above Where Christ is seated reigning in power and love Found in Him who is the light we will shine Darkness flees at Your sight But we will see Your glory We died our lives now hid with Him In Christ alone we live, we rise with Him "We should set our hearts on the things of heaven." Amen! Like when Psalms 91 says he hath set his love upon me... Psalms 91:14-16 14) Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15) He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16) With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. I think it also means what is said in Colossians 3, to set your affection on things above... Colossians 3:1-4 1) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Set your affection on the things of God, on things above to do what's pleasing to the Lord. "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above." But don't set our affections on things on the earth or the lusts of the flesh. "For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."
  6. Hi, God in His love sent the greatest gift of all His Son Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world John 3:16-17 16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. God commendeth his love toward us Romans 5:6-8 6) For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7) For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We love him, because he first loved us 1 John 4:7-19 7) Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8) He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9) In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10) Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11) Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12) No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13) Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14) And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15) Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16) And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17) Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19) We love him, because he first loved us. The love of God is shown from Genesis through Revelation. Genesis 3 tells of God's promise to save sinful mankind through the Messiah Jesus, this is His love. Her seed; it shall bruise thy head Genesis 3:14-15 14) And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15) And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Jesus, born of a virgin Matthew 1:23 23) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Jesus, of the seed of Abraham Hebrews 2:13-17 13) And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. 14) Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15) And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16) For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17) Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. Hope this helps
