I almost put this in "Weird and Wacky" - you'll see why when you look at these inventions. :noidea:

Gallery: Six gadgets that could help green our lives

A recent competition called for novel designs that could cut our environmental impact. See some of the best, from window blinds that collect solar energy to a hand-powered printer

Whatever happend to 'Save The Rainforest' and 'Save the Whales'?

One can only wonder what the establishment will dream up for us to fear in the future.

Save the Aardvarks?

Flesh-eating avian west nile lymes ebola melt your face off, disorder?

SAVE THE WORLD! (by purchasing a useless item whos manufacturing & distribution process rapes yet more of the earth)

It's always something, it's always ultimately meaningless and it's endless.

Low-carb anyone?

I like the venetian blind idea...but how much would it cost????

recently , my wife bought 3 of these solar powered yard lights and uses them for night lites around the house...living room and kitchen...I like the blue colored light better, fills the room so you can see, but not over powering...they kinda look like little flying saucers.

The term "Useless Gimmick" comes to mind for most of those. :emot-hug: The one that kills power at the outlet level is just a downright bad idea. The thing about those electronics that use a bit of power all the time, is that randomly shutting them down is bad for them. You could kill your DVD player or something with that. The blinds are the only one I really like, that sounds very useful, assuming it works.
