It would be difficult to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and hard to tell which combination of carrots and sticks might convince Iran's leaders to abandon that goal, the US Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, told the Senate Tuesday.

And the longer we wait, the harder it will be. We've already wasted toomuch valuable time, money, not to mention lives,in Iraq while Ahmedinijad prepares his Persian empire.

Carrot and stick? They just don't get it. It will take more then tempting them with something in order to get them to stop. To them, it is part of their religious beliefs to destroy Israel. Nothing will deter them from this task unless you remove the threat. Wake up people!

How do you suggest that we remove the threat?

And from a purely worldly point of view, what right does the US or any other country with nukes have to tell anyone else that they can't have them.

I will allow those in Israel to answer. They are the ones threatened and I stand 100% behind their survival.

We don't have a leader who is threatening to use them.

Iran is a different story.

I stand behind them also. But really, why should the US, China, Russia, the UK, France, India, and Pakistan be able to say 'well we can have them but you cant".

what gives any of them the right?

I really wish I had the time to give you a proper answer for this question. To make it as short as I can, common sense. Think of it this way. Would you give a raving lunatic that is threatening to kill someone a gun?
