WOW. WOW WOW.... thats all I can say. This movie is great. I just watched it and I'm going to buy myself a copy. I was very angry at the beginning because of all the pretentious Catholicism that was in the movie and the repeated use of the Lord's name in vain.. but the middle and ending made up for it. This is a fantastic movie 10/10!

Thank you so much for sharing it! It's indeed spirit filled.

What was so pretentious about the Catholicism in this movie?

First all let me appoligise if I offended anyone, I was really upset at the scenes I'm about to describe and so let that fly out of my mouth.

Here is what I found pretentious in the film.

- There is a scene where they call the nuns "the holy family"

- The worst one was regarding the catechism answer

- Also what falsity came about by nun in one of the final scenes

I'm being very vague here so as not to ruin the movie for those who haven't watch it yet but if you've saw the movie then, you probably know what scenes I'm referring to.

Maybe it was the mere presence of Catholicism in this movie that offended you.

I had not heard of the movie either, but the review I read and what you said about it sure makes me want to see it. Thanks for sharing the info about it. Looking forward to seeing it.

I watched a movie last night called Evelyn, starring Peirce Brosnan, Aidan Quinn and Julianne Margulies and it was wonderful - a great family film and I wonder if it might have slid right by Christian audiences. Correct me if I'm wrong on that. This IS a film Christians can embrace fully. I don't want to say too much but at one point, the Peirce Brosnan character speaks of being raised by only a father who, by the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit was able to do so very well. He goes on to say that by the power of the Holy Spirit, he quit drinking (he was an alcoholic) and will be able to raising his 3 kids. His daughter is very prayerful and speaks some awesome spiritual wisdom too. A great rental and keeper video if anyone is interested. I think it's probably about 5 years old or so.

We need good father role model's like that. YEA!

Quite the thing watching an A-list actor professing the power of the Holy Spirit, eh?

I was very angry at the beginning because of all the pretentious Catholicism that was in the movie and the repeated use of the Lord's name in vain.. but the middle and ending made up for it. This is a fantastic movie 10/10!

It actually does shed some light on yet another evil perpetrated by the RC church. Another one that I saw recently that also sheds light on more of the little known, but severe damage caused by the RC church is called the Magdeline Sisters, although this was not an uplifting film. That one left me feeling disturbed that evil could flourish through the so called 'church'. I would also recommend this one for the sake of gaining knowledge on history, but the Magdeline Sisters is not for kids.

Thank you so much for sharing it! It's indeed spirit filled.

You are very welcome. By the responses, this movie slid right under the radar, which is really sad. Maybe we can help the film make a come-back through video rentals and have Hollywood take note. BTW, the lead female Julianne Marguiles is a Christian - I think anyway.
