But...I don't read them as history books. They are FICTION. This is the same stuff that was bandied about for years after the "Da Vinci Code". Honestly..... Dan Brown himself has made the claim in more then one interview that his books are based on fact. He said he would not have wasted time writing them if they were just fiction. Further more the "DaVinci Code" is outright blashphemy. It's hard to see how anyone who believes in Jesus Christ and loves God, could enjoy any form of entertainment that denies and blasphemes who he his. I enjoyed the Da Vinci Code and found Brown mixed in just enough fact with his fiction that it was hard to know when the one ended and the next began. Except that he made the Da Vinci Code to be based on fact when it wasn't. He even claimed in the prologue that this particular organization (Priori of Sion) was real when it fact it was not. "Just enough fact" you say? Do tell what "facts" existed in that book. Both secular and religious scholars and researchers have found close to all if not all of the claims made in the book to be ungrounded, false, misrepresentations, etc.

That's not "bad research"! That's writing a fiction novel. The problem seems to have come across because of the controversial subject matter (particularly in the Da Vinci Code - there is no where near the controversy in Angels and Demons). People, particularly the more sceptical of minds, seems to have latched onto the book as if it portrayed actual history without any real engagement with the material. I enjoyed the books, but on a personal level could never get over the historical changes that were made to better fit a storyline. No one of note makes the claim that it's an accurate account of history. As has been mentioned in this thread, Dan Brown specifically points out at the beginning of his novel that the amount of anti-matter spoken of in the text is currently impossible - it seems the author of this particular article has not actually read the book and simply chose to discredit Dan Brown in this issue. Well, I am a believer and I loved the books so I guess your judgemental attitude will have to stand on it's own.

I have not read the new one yet, but look forward to a good read. Stuff like this does not change any of my beliefs or faith, and I think that perhaps a mature christian should read them, especially if they are going to be discussing the book with anyone. Otherwise don't read it, and say to the person asking you the questions, "I have not read it and so I have no comment"? I guess that is what free will is about.
