Guest hlrtx
BUT Why is the entire Bible directed towards "men" and not "men and women"? The term "men" refers to all humans in general, collectively, so its not really necessary to use both. The Bible calls Jesus the Son of God and the Son of Man, but He was born of a woman. We don't have a gender-neutral term. In English, "man" and "men" is used at times to express humanity/ human-kind/ people/ a representative of any and every person. Could do without the sarcasm but appreciate the input. I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. My apologies.

Today, it is hard to address anything in general by using the term man. We how have mail person, waitperson, police officer ... etc. At a cafeteria, I saw a sign for "Fisherperson's platter." Sorry, but that just sounds wrong!

In genealogical record in Bible, mostly the son's names are listed than wives or daughters. He thinks that this might be the answer for that but not sure. [He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man."] (Genesis 5:2)

Brothers (adelphoi) was often used in the original Greek to refer to both men and women and.... "sons" (the Greek huioi) was used as a legal term in the adoption and inheritance laws of 1st century Rome. As used by the apostle Paul, this term refers to the status of all Christians, both men and women, who having been adopted into God's family, now enjoy all the privelages, obligations and inheritance rights of God's children (ESV - Preface)
Guest HIS girl
Jesus was a "champion of women" - this is clear when you read the Gospels. What do you mean by champion? Women were not given high status in the times of Jesus - Jesus was a Man that went against the grain - and the funny thing was - He was just being Himself - truthful in everyway - and in this truthfulness, it shown light on areas that were lacking: in many facets of society of the day. Jesus revealed Himself to the Samaritan woman who was of an ethnicity that was looked down upon - 1 strike against her so far but being a woman, that was 2 strikes against her - and being a woman who had had relationships with many men, automatic strike against her so she was 3 strikes down. But Jesus not only TALKED with this woman (it was improper for a Rabbi to talk to a woman in public) but revealed His Messiahship and true identity to her. (John 4 25/26) Jesus had many women followers: (Luke 8 v 2/3) Women who had been healed by Jesus of evil spirits and infirmities followed Him because they had been given a second chance at life. Jesus spoke to Mary Magdalene first of all His Followers after His Resurrection - a woman. (Mark 16 v 9/11). This was HUGE and as to be expected, the disciples didn't believe her at first. These are just a few examples.
