Guest shiloh357
Just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why after the Flood the Lord commanded Noah and his family to eat meat. But I would think at first it would have been because so much vegitation would have been destroyed by the flood. I can imagine that after the water receded, the place would have looked pretty barren. That is just a guess, though.

Yeah, I think their energy may have just been sapped, and God knew that a good protein would provide a sustained release of energy that they would need to do all that they needed to get done after landing the ark. You know, getting all the animals out, cleaning up, walking a great distance if need be, etc. Just a guess.

Even considering any stored food. The ground would take a long time to drain and be ready for planting. I'm guessing the addition of meat was a supplement. Clark and Wesley state that such great changes occurred on the earth and it's atmosphere that crops produced were less in nourishment than before the flood. In addition to a more hostile atmosphere. That the addition of meat was necessary and speaks to the Lord continually providing for our needs.
Guest shiloh357
The dove found an olive branch, though. Yeah, but that would hardly show that there was an abundance of edible vegitation. Besides have you seen the area where they think the ark came to rest? Looks pretty barren even today.

You raise an interesting point... An elephant eats a lot of vegetation every day.
