It is amazing to me that Israel gets hammered for a protocol misstep (Our former president puked on another world leader no so many years ago) yet the murderous thugs that launch rockets and have committed so much murder that they built a wall to keep from being attacked by them are always the poor darlings of the uninformed.

The outrage is so far beyond reasonable and appropriate that words fail to convey the level of ignorance that is the basis for the outrage.

365 days a year this small country has to watch for terrorist murder attempts 24/7 and if they should build homes the outrage is as though they murdered babies and ate them!

The problem with nonsense like this is that is based on mispresentation of the facts. No one here supports israel unconditionally, so to paint us in that fashion only serves to prove why you cannot be trusted in a debate and why you have nothing important or meaningful to offer.

No one misrepresented anything. They messed up...they apologized. You keep wanting to make this about something its not.

I disagree that it was a jerk move.

And I disagree that Israel owes the US any favors.

The US pressured Israel to leave Gaza; what good did that do Israel? IF anyone is a bad ally, it's US.

Its your right to disagree. As an American, I desire to see my countries representatives treated respectfully. I thought it was disrespectful...so did many others...and so did the Israeli gov't, which has since apologized. I never said that Israel owes the US any favors. As allies we both have the benefits of such a friendship.

If you ask me the only people that are doing the hammering are the zealots who refuse to believe that Israel could do any wrong. They did something wrong...on the world stage...it made the news. I've heard more about Palestine in this thread than I've heard in a long time...and its all being used as a smokescreen as if Palestine has ANYTHING to do with what Israel did. Nobody said their mistake was on par with murdering babies. It was an error. It was disrespectful to the protocols of how you treat your friends, your allies, your supporters. They apologized...and quite frankly it went away.

It is a misrepresentation of us. You keep trying paint us as thinking Israel can do no wrong, as a basis for your criticism of us and it simply is a false allegation on your part. You treat us like a bunch of idiots based on a incorrect perception of what and how we think.

It only serves to show why you are not a good person to offer any kind of accurate commentary about us or this issue.

Amen! It was about a bad timed comment, nothing more, nothing less. And where's the debate? The only bone of contention is whether the comment was made at an inapproriate time.

365 days a year this small country has to watch for terrorist murder attempts 24/7 and if they should build homes the outrage is as though they murdered babies and ate them!

And who on earth is outraged? Not me. It was a mistake for which Israel's leaders have apologized for, and given the pressure they are under, was completely understandable. They had the maturity to say it was a mistake, and believe me, have put it behind them. Lets move on, there are far more important problems facing Israel than an ill timed comment.

The incident was a sleeping dog, until some people on this thread started poking it with a stick!

This is the kind of nonsense I am talking about. It is simply a means of demonizing us and offers nothing important or meaningful to the discussion.

They did something wrong...on the world stage...it made the news.
No they didn't. They simply sought to appease world opinion by being bigger person and apologizing for something they do not owe an apology for.

I've heard more about Palestine in this thread than I've heard in a long time...and its all being used as a smokescreen as if Palestine has ANYTHING to do with what Israel did.
The point being made though in reference to the Palestinians is how people like you claim to "support" Israel only find your outrage and only bother to post in this section when it the problem is something you can pin on Israel. You never post over here when it is something the Palestinians do to Israel. So quite frankly, any criticism you offer of Israel is suspect given the one-sided, lopsided appearance of your alleged "support."

Nobody said their mistake was on par with murdering babies. It was an error. It was disrespectful to the protocols of how you treat your friends, your allies, your supporters.
Yeah, we betray Israel all of the time. We sell advanced weapons to Israel's sworn enemies, we force Israel to make military and political concessions that amount to national sucide. We expect Israel to make peace with enemies and terrorists that we would NEVER negotiate with. We expect Israel to meet every demand and ante up everything they agree to in negotiations, but allow the Palestinians to slide on EVERY SINGLE agreement they make. We are silent when Israel is attacked, and then only complain about a breakdown in peace when Israel has the temerity to respond in self-defense.

So frankly, this little incident does not even compare to what Israel's "greatest supporter" and "ally" has done to Israel's detriment time and time again.

And it was explained as to why timing was really a nonissue. The timing was not bad at all since the announcement does not amount to a hindrance to peace talks.

That's how I feel/think, too.

Hmm . . . sounds like the whole trip was a disaster.
