That alleged 'American Bacon' looks nothing like what we get here. It looks like a portion of a strip of bacon. Anyway, the fat fries off and the bacon is left quite crisp if it's good bacon. The Australian bacon looks good though. :)

When I look closely there is actually some non fat meat on that bacon!

:P

I still say: NO STATEHOOD FOR CANADA UNTIL THEY ADMIT THAT 'CANADIAN BACON' STUFF, IS JUST HAM!

Call Canadian Bacon what you want, but it taste soooo good in an egg and cheese sandwich topped with fried onions.

Years ago I use to be able to get Brazilian canned bacon and that stuff was mouth watering also.

Sad to deflate all of our bubbles but the hogs now have an added mouse gene to keep the phosphorous levels down in their excrement. I have lost my love of bacon.

Both the Canadian and US governments have permitted this - so Canadian / US does not matter. Maybe the Aussie is better.

We eat good American bacon here for it's taste. Yeah, it's got a lot of fat on it........ that's what makes it better than any other kind.

If you look closely at the right side of the bacon strips in the picture in the OP, you can see that the two strips are nearly identical - probably side-by-side pieces from the same package, and then the left side of the top one was cut away.
