So maybe it's fur somehow offered protection? (Cats playing with each other seem to not be as bothered by claws as much as we do, so that's what I'm basing my guess on.) My brother in law lives in Yuma has hiked almost every square inch of the state now and has a few pics of cats perched in some strange places which as he puts it is the best indicator one needs to start walking the other way! lol Thick hair and skin I bet would protect them but still those needles can hurt something fierce!
