Pepsi Ignores Criticism on Use of Aborted Cells in Research

PepsiCo is ignoring criticism from pro-life advocates upset that the company contracts with a research firm that uses fetal cells from babies victimized by abortions to test and produce artificial flavor enhancers.

Last week, dozens of pro-life groups called for a boycott of Pepsi because of information that came to light in March showing biotech company Senomyx was found to be testing their food additives using fetal cells from abortions. Senomyx ignored a letter from the pro-life group Children of God for Life, which complained about its practices.

I often wonder about that when dwelling on the Catholic Communion ceremony. :whistling:

The cells are used to develop taste receptors....they are NOT in the product but are used to test flavors. Still, this is disgusting and I, personally, will not buy Pepsi products again until I read that this practice has been abandoned. It makes me wonder what other companies are doing this.

I appreciate the clarification.

The article has a link to another one about the company Pepsi gets this from, Senomyx, and in there it states:

"They included food giants PepsiCo, Kraft Foods, Campbell Soup, Solae and Nestlé."

At the bottom:

"UPDATE: Within hours of its press statement to LifeNews.com, the pro-life group received notice from Campbell Soup that the company has severed its ties with Senomyx. Juli Mandel Sloves, Senior Manager of Nutrition & Wellness Communications at Campbell Soup Company, told Vinnedge, “We are no longer in partnership with Senomyx. This fact was discussed during the Senomyx conference call with its investors earlier this month.” "
