Nearly every sitcom on the air seems to make light of sleeping around, and films like "No Strings Attached" and "Friends with Benefits" lure young eyes to the theater, while a sex-crazed Tucker Max boasts about his conquests and skyrockets to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, becoming a cult hero for young slackers everywhere. Oh Hamburgers! Posted June 13, 2012 Group: Diamond Member Followers: 1 Topic Count: 10 Topics Per Day: 0.00 Content Count: 2,144 Content Per Day: 0.34 Reputation: 163 Days Won: 1 Joined: 02/02/2007 Status: Offline Birthday: 11/05/1985 Share Posted June 13, 2012 I would argue that all the sex in society is the manifestation of our sexual desires. Sex sells as they say, and the fact it is such a huge market is because people are willing to buy and sell sex. If there weren't willing consumers there wouldn't be a market. People like sex so naturally people want to have it. I think it's unfortunate that it is not always viewed with the respect that (I feel) it deserves. I don't think that the "misuse" of sex is anything new though. With a global society that is used to instant access I think it has just become so much more accessible, between advertisements and pornography and what have you. So really I don't think sex (and our obsession with it) hasn't so much changed or increased all that much from the past.. it's just that it has become so much more visible. And we aren't being taught the true value of it, the emotional bonds it creates, the consequences of sex-without-commitment (aside from risk of disease), why it's better to wait, etc.
